  • Ratcheting gear pulley system allows for one handed effort to pull heavy loads
  • Hardened all-steel construction with corrosion-resistant galvanized finish
  • Laminated steel gear and locking pawl
  • 3/16 in. aircraft-grade braided steel cable
  • Self-closing safety latch hooks stay connected
  • 17 in. high-leverage steel ratchet handle with cushioned nonslip grip

Works easily and correctly. While it is clearly marked not to be used to lift things, I was able to use it to carefully lift a large A/C outside unit, brace it in place then replace its rotting platform and lower the unit back into position. The latches worked easily. The only minor problem was the spring to shift from lift to release was a little tight for the first few activations. Otherwise it just worked. I would purchase it again if I need such a device.

So, I bought this as a part for a... let's call it a circus bicycle. It's never going to be placed under the full 2 tons it's spec'd for, and that's on purpose, this was the lightest and cheapest puller I could find, since it is a part of the bike and has to be carried along with it. The bolts that hold the hooks on are removable, though some are C-clips while others are actual hex bolts, though the best metalworker I know assures me that they're (at least marked as) high quality bolts. The thing I didn't expect about it is that the notch-at-a-time let down system the page advertises is operated by the same lever as the regular pulling mode. You flip a spring in the handle (the bright yellow tube in the picture) from one position to another, then you move the lever all the way over to the non-moving hook, then back and forth at that point, each cycle triggering one notch to let down. While this works, and lets you gradually take the strain of whatever you're lowering, it means the handle has to be able to reach the very end of it's swing in that direction to work. Depending on how you're using this thing, there may or may not be enough room to do that. In my case, I had to do a small redesign of the bike to accommodate for it.

We purchased this while building fence with high tensile barbed wire. It is a beast! Don't know how we would have gotten the job done without it. Even my father - who has been farming for nearly 50 years - was impressed with the performance of this puller. To make things even better, the Amazon price beat other sources by a country mile. Highly recommended!

This is a bit of over kill for pullers but when you need some serious force to move something this is the one. I use it to pull trees over. This leaves a hole in the ground which is better than a stump. Works well with 3/8 inch grade 70 log chain.

For the price point, it cannot be beat. I had a medium size tree that leaned heavily onto my neighbor's property after a heavy winter storm. I purchased this and used it to pull it back upright and stake it in the proper position. It was easy to use and functioned perfectly. I can not comment on heavy use but for a medium-size job, I am completely happy with this product. I will use it to straighten fence posts that have moved and leaned over time.

Had a metal carport crush from snow load and was essentially resting on my boat. I staked the base down and used this puller attached to a tree and the side of the carport to pull it sideways enough to clear and remove the undamaged boat. Was surprised how strong and easy this was and the length (7') of the cable pull. Now that I have one I realize how many other jobs it will be great for. Would buy again.

For an inexpensive tool it works quite well and is good quality. A bit cumbersome to release the tension but I’d have to say it ensures the safe release of the tension. I completed the job and it did well

Bought this to wench a 92 5.0 Mustang (4200 pounds) onto a trailer. The mustang had a flat tire that I could not air up as well. This come a long pulled it no problem. I did end up using 2 of them in tandem so I could detach one while the other held the car in place, and back and forth. Etc etc. Worked like a charm.

I use this puller where the winch on my tractor causes the tractor to slide. It works better than I expected for the price. I would modify the pawls on the ratchet to make them easier to release. A more expensive come-a-long would work more smoothly. If you only use a come-a-long on rare occasions, this one is fine.

Double hooked come-alongs don't have much working distance but they definitely do the job. I prefer working with block and tackle and heavy line but I had to resort to this with a chain set-up made for heavy steel pipe. That widow maker is fire wood now thanks to this handy do-hicky. It helps if you already have straps, shackles, chains and a tree or stump [not cut short] strategically placed.
