I ordered this stamp set for my (almost) 3 year-old ...

I ordered this stamp set for my (almost) 3 year-old son. My thought was that it would be a helpful tool for him as he begins to learn different letters, and could continue to be used as he learns to spell. He was very excited about his new stamps, and has used them multiple times since he received them. These are wooden stamps, with a rubber face for the letters. They are well-made (as most Melissa & Doug items are), and I can see a long future of use for them in our household.

Great concept, but poor quality product.

I bought this for my about to be 3 & 6 yo daughters, so they can play with the letters and practice writing with them while being creative and having fun. I wish however that it was easier to take the letters/stamps out of the box. It’s even hard for me! They are so tight together and kind of hard to pick them up and put back in. Also why on earth lots M&D’s products don’t have a lid on lots of their boxed toys?? It would be so much easier and better to store them anywhere with it.

These stamps are perfect for my 5 year old

These stamps are perfect for my 5 year old. We are using them for letter recognition and to stamp out sight words. The only two things I would change are adding a lid to the box and making it a bit easier to get the stamps out; though neither are a huge issue for us. Great fun for my daughter, and a great learning tool! Thanks Melissa and Doug, we love your products!

Great for little hands

Purchased this for my preschool class. The tops of the stamps are easy to hold and stamp without getting your fingers messy. Although 3 year olds will still find a way. I especially like how the letters are all written as a preschooler/pre-k would learn to write them. No curly g's/ t's/ a's. I don't use the punctuations much but my children will probably like them as they get older.

Very nice

I'm not an avid Melissa & Doug fan as some are. I know some of their stuff is made overseas and some (wooden blocks) have been labeled as having formaldehyde in them. I didn't see any kind of label about formaldehyde on these. I also think they're usually overpriced. I do like their stamp sets though, and these were on a Black Friday sale. One thing I've noticed about their stamps is that they're nice enough for adults to use. We have some of their animal stamps that are detailed and sharp in their printing. The wood handles are much nicer than what you see usually. And the rubber gives a much nicer image than foam, which is what some kids' stamps have. These are a little bigger than what I was expecting, and come in a nice wooden box as all their sets do. I can see a lot of use for the kids and even myself with these. I'm sure it will be a huge help in learning to read and letter identification for my younger one when she's ready.

Great for our 4yr old and 2 yr old

So much fun for little kids. Although they like to mix the colors on the stamp pad (ages 4 and 2) they have really enjoyed these stamps. WE LOVE Melissa and Doug products as they are always high quality and great products for kids. As a pediatrician I am grateful for companies that produce products that are educational for kids but at the same time fun for the kids. These letters help them spell their name or simply letter recognition while still letting them be creative and have fun making designs. We got this product on sale around Christmas time and have loved it so much we would have easily paid full price to get it again. Would definitely recommend this product to others.

Great Quality Stampers

I use these stamps in my classroom. They have held up well with the little hands. My only issue with this is the product doesn't have a good cover, just covered in plastic. This is a pain because I have spilled the stamps many times after storing them or letting students put them away. Obviously having no cover doesn't affect the use of the product which is why I still gave 4 stars. I just wanted others to know so they weren't surprised like I was. Melissa & Doug never disappoint!

Melissa & Doug Deluxe Alphabet Stamp Set

Got this for my 4 year old and he really likes them! The stamps are nice and they come on it's own wooden box wich is great and to top it of they have their own stamp pad. I love the fact that all Melissa and Doug stamp sets come with their own stamp pad while other brands make you fell like you have to go fishing for a stamp pad somewhere. If you have a nice stamp set plus kid/s, you can NEVER have too many stamp pads. If my son wants to take the set somewhere we dont have to "remember" to pack the stamp pad, you just grab the set you like and there you have all you need(except paper of course). The only negative thing I have to say about this product is that I dont get how/why they sell it without a lid or something, there's too many pieces plus if your kid is the one doing the stamp cleaning chances are there might be ink residue, it could be something simple like the slide in plastic lid that comes with their magnetic numbers/letters set, or maybe a magnetic wooden lid..Also I wish there was a way to better guess if your letters will align as you stamp them! And I think the hourglass shape they have would work better with little hands if it was rotated so your fingers can grasp better. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT!!

Must have for learning!

These are so great for teaching young kids the alphabet, uppercase and lower case, spelling, etc! We’re working on her name with upper and lower case and then we will use them for sight words. It seems to really help when they get to learn through an activity like stamping! I’m so glad I purchased these! I know we will get a lot of use out of them! They’d be a great gift, too!

Helped my daughter with letter recognition

I purchased this item after a recommendation from my daughter's kindergarten teacher. We used the stamps for letter recognition; I would ask her to stamp a letter and she would have to find it... much more exciting than flash cards! We also used the set to stamp out letters to Santa! My daughter really loves this set and still uses it often. The only downside is that it doesn't have a cover, so the letters fall out of the box. I eventually ended up putting all of the pieces in a gallon Ziploc; works perfect!
