The BEST camping purchase ever!
The BEST camping purchase ever! Finally! Off the ground on air mattress and graduated to a 'real' camp bed! I'm 5'-7", 135lbs. My friend got one too, he's 6'-1" and 220lbs - broad shoulders. We had NO complaints. The bed folded in case is fairly large - but so worth it. I covered it with the TETON sports comfortlite XXL sleep pad, AND a 2" memory foam topper! Was more comfortable then my bed at home! for the first time ever, I looked forward to camp sleeping. 20" off ground is great to be able to sit on the edge (can't do that easily on air mattress). I was able to store 4 good sized duffle bags underneath - so provided great storage. The photo is set-up in my house prior to the trip - no foam topper shown. Can this be used with two people? It is the size of a twin bed. Yes possible if you are very close - but better to get your own cot! Two people my size or smaller could make this work - definitely work if you slept head to toe. Two children, no issues. My boyfriend an I were able to 'cuddle' very nicely. The cot took a little bit of a beating, but held together just fine. Very easy to assemble, quality materials.

but I absolutely love it! I move around a lot at night
I have only used my cot once, but I absolutely love it! I move around a lot at night; the larger size of this cot provides me with the space I need to feel comfortable throughout the night. In addition, the design of the posts make assembly much easier than other, cheaper cots of similar design. When I purchased this cot, I purchased two less expensive cots as well. The end poles on the less expensive cots simple have a hole on either side that have to be pulled over plastic knobs at each end of the side rail and I exert have to put a lot of effort to do so and am concerned about the integrity of the knobs over time. In contrast, the frame of the Teton Sports Outfitter XXL is made out of durable aluminum (including the knobs at the end). AND, instead of holes in the end poles that would require you to pull very hard to get the pole over the knobs, the end poles are notched in a way that allows both ends to more easily slide into place. I would DEFINITELY recommend this product to anyone that hates sleeping on the ground and doesn't want to deal with air mattresses that tend to deflate during the night!!!

Improved Design - now easy to put together. Don't use with tent unless...
This Cot + xxl quick tent + elite rainfly (purchased separately from the tent) + Thermarest luxury map mattress (size XL) = best sleep a person can have while (car) camping. Some past negative reviews complained about difficulty snapping the last corner in place. I had no trouble with this thanks to what seems to be a new feature. There is a small red lever which is permanently attached to one of the aluminum sides that if used as intended allows the last corner to easily snap into place. When you receive your xxl cot, read the instructions and they will explain how to easily set the cot up. If you plan to use this cot in conjunction with the teton sports xxl quick tent make sure you go to teton sports website and purchase the elite rain fly (which is larger than the one that comes with the tent). The rain fly that comes with the tent works well when the tent is used on the ground. However, as some of the negative reviews for the tent state, the rainfly that comes with the tent does not overlap the cot on all sides. Rain rolls down the fly, onto the cot, and pools under you. The elite rain fly (sold separately) covers both the tent and the cot and will keep you dry. The elite rainfly can be viewed on teton sports website. The picture of the elite rainfly on tetons website is inacurate. The fly is larger than the one pictured. [...] Lastly, I purchased an extra large thermarest luxury map mattress for use with this cot (instead of the teton sports xxl camp pad). The thermarest I purchased is 30 inches wide (XL version). If can be used with the cot, or if you wish, it fits perfectly into the xxl quick tent so that all three can be used together. This particular thermarest has very good reviews on amazon. There is an older version which costs more. It has many reviews. I purchased the newer version which is less expensive, and it seems to be the same as the older one. It costs approx $160. I am very happy with it so far. Other info: -The carry bag that comes with this cot is just a little bit too small. You can fit the cot into it, but it takes some time and effort. I can never understand why companies that sell camping equipment don't just make their carry bags 1 or 2 inches larger than the product itself. -The teton sports xxl camp pad may also be a very good choice for use with the cot and the tent, but I have not personally seen or used it. Amazon reviews teton sports xxl camp pad as 4.6 (209 reviews in total) Older thermarest luxury map mattress as 4.8 (143 reviews in total) Newer thermarest luxury map mattress as 5.0 (4 reviews in total)

Fantastic cot. Sleep better then at home! Highest quality!
Cannot say enough about the comfort of these cots. Especially for a person my husbands size. 400+. The setup is a snap once you learn to use the little red pin attached to the cot. Optional pad is a must! I also got the organizer as well. Judge is still out of that... The downside is the cot is very large but hey that's why your buying the xxl model right? I just upgraded my tent to fit the extra width. If you want a cot that will have you sleeping like you are at home, or better, pick yourself up one of these cots. Trust me!

Incredible cot. Well worth the price.
These cots are incredible! Seriously. I have never, ever slept so good camping before in my life and I've done lots of camping! The morning after our first night sleeping on this cot camping, I couldn't believe we slept until 8:30am! I don't even sleep in that late at home in my own bed. The cot is very well made. We had no trouble putting them together. They fold up easily and slide into a carrier similar to a camping chair. You do have to use some force to get the end rail in but it's not a problem. Be prepared for the very large size. The actual "fabric" part that you actually lay on is 40 inches wide but the total width with the rails is 43". My husband and I are of average height and weight and had more than plenty of room. We both laid on one together and it held us easy but we wouldn't want to sleep that way. However, two children could sleep on it together easy! I am a stomach sleeper and extend my arms out over my head when I sleep. I laid that way in this cot and still had plenty of room at my head and feet. I could move around on the cot and it stayed in place rock solid. They sit 19 inches off the ground so you don't have to crawl down into it. They are larger than a twin size bed. The two cots would not fit in our 6 man tent. We had to go up to a 15 x 9 tent for them to fit and still allow room to walk into the tent. We put a sleeping bag on it and a fitted sheet on top of that (to hold the sleeping bag in place) and it was incredibly comfortable. I am attaching picture of the two cots inside our 15 x 9 tent (not a good pic, sorry) to show how they filled the large tent with their grand size and one of my husband sitting on the cot. He is 5'9" and 190lbs. I am so glad we chose these cots. They are well worth the price, as they are a quality product that will likely be the last cot we ever have to buy. I will definitely use this cot also for an extra bed in my house for overnight guests.

An Exceptional Product from an Exceptional Company
I purchased this cot after seeing numerous others with the same cot. I previously used what I considered a large cot, a Texsport KING KOT with the dimensions of 83 x 35 x 20. While this one is not much larger, the construction is much better. The Texsport cot was plagued by creaking whenever I turned over, moved, or shifted a little. This isn't a major issue except it tends to bother others in the area that are trying to get some sleep while camping. The Teton Sports Outfitter XXL Camping Cot, on the other hand, is rock solid. I used it recently and slept out under the stars surrounded by a large group of younger Boy Scouts. While I still turned over frequently, the only sound you could hear was the rustle of the bedding and the sound of the wind through the tress. Not a single creak or noise from the cot. The extra space didn't seem like a lot in comparison, but in practice it made a notable difference in maneuverability while sleeping. I never once bumped into the rails. The surface was exceedingly comfortable and allowed for a night's sleep equitable to my bed at my house. I recently had surgery which made sleeping difficult, in general, and almost impossible while camping. However, the space afforded by the cot allowed me to position myself in ways that maximized comfort and significantly decreased any pain or soreness. The cot is exceedingly easy to set up. Anyone with prior experience with a cot should be able to set it up in less than a minute. The inclusion of a red pivot arm allows for that always difficult last connection of the end rail to be as easy as the very first connection. The bag that came with mine opened along the long edge and allows for easy removal and replacement for storage. The unit is heavy, but it is expected with the construction and sturdiness that you receive. If there is any negative that can be found with the cot is that it would be nice if the cot came with a couple straps to wrap around the collapsed unit when putting it away. As it currently stands, you have to ensure you have a good grip around the entire unit when putting it away. With a couple straps that wrap around the folded up cot, it would be a simple proposition to pick up and place in the bag. The legs could easily accommodate the addition of a Velcro strap (or preferably 2) riveted to them or they could include two straps with the product. I will likely purchase some cheap lashing straps with adjustable clips to secure the cot when taking it down. It is a small issue and not worthy of reducing the rating. But, it is a suggestion for improvement for an exceptional product that would require minimal cost to the manufacturer and would enhance the experience for the end consumer. It is a very good product and I highly recommend it for those interested in having a premier sleeping experience when camping in close proximity to parking. It is unlikely useful for locations requiring hiking for more than 1/2 mile as the weight would be problematic for some. I also highly recommend the addition of the TETON Sports Outfitter XXL Camping Pad and Quick Tent for use with this product. They combine to make a very pleasant camping experience with fast and easy set-up and tear down allowing you to enjoy the outdoors without spending a large amount of time getting things set up or putting everything away.

Good cot -- field tested
I read through several of the reviews before I order this cot. There were several legitimate complaints by prior reviewer's. I will say that I experienced none of the major problems that they documented. The cot arrived just fine, and has performed admirably for several days, now. It has exceeded my expectations. One of the complaints was that the cot had a strong chemical odor. Mine did, as well. What they failed to tell you was that that odor comes from rubber pads that are on each of the six legs. Those rubber pads serve as shock absorbency and springs to help equalize the cot and provide some form of suspension for the canvas. I simply aired my cot outside for two or three days and the odor completely dissipated. Then later, while on a weeklong camp out, the whole time this cot was in my tent, I experienced no chemical orders. The canvas is extremely comfortable to lay on by itself. No additional padding is necessary, and I weigh almost 300 pounds. However, I did purchase three movers blankets that were 80 inches long and 72 inches wide. I folded them in half lengthwise and used them as additional padding on the cot. I slept extremely comfortably. The cot is very easy to set up and take down. Yes, getting that last corner end support in place does take some muscle. However, if you follow the instructions that come with it, it can be accomplished quite easily. Basically, you just install opposite corners first. This equalizes the canvas. When you get to the fourth corner, you place one hand on the leg and push while pulling on the end support with the other hand and it pops right in place. All of my rivets seem to be solid. However, you can go to a hardware store and get a small replacement bolt to have on hand just in case. The canvas will stretch a bit over time, but mine has not stretched to any excessive level. And that was after bouncing on it quite a bit for a week. I experienced no sagging of consequence. The only thing I would say that I dislike about the design is the fact that the end support does stick out quite a bit. However, a person can take a hacksaw and cut about 2 inches off one end of each support. The plastic end cap on the end of it can be reinstalled on the shortened stick without any problem. That's all I can think of at the moment. If I think of anything further, I will be sure to add it to this review. Let me end this by saying that I highly recommend this cot and I think you'll be happy that you got it.

Perfect for me.
At 6'7" I needed something that would fit and was comfortable. This fit the bill perfectly. Very comfortable. Very sturdy. And the tent that's available to purchase and add to it makes for a comfortable roomy sleeping place.

IT REALLY CAN HOLD MY WEIGHT!
I'm a big guy (300 lbs), so it's hard to find a camping cot that doesn't sag or rip under my weight. Many claim they don't, but I've broken many a cot because of my weight. I decided to try this one out, and I was surprised. Not only did it support my weight, but it's so comfortable to sleep on! I've been using it for camping several times and it's easy to set up and fold back up and put away. I'm so glad I purchased this. If this cot holds my weight, it will definitely hold yours!

Comfy for a big guy
I set it up the day it arrived and slept on it in my livingroom that night. I am packing some weight and that xxl cot held me just fine. I learned real fast that there is a certain way to set the cot up. There is a small metal guide on the left top corner that is used to guide the crossbar into place locking the cot into place. The canvas is extremely taught once setup. I fought and fought with clearance issues until I found that little metal bar guide. This bed has become a permenant part of my camping gear. Im too old and broken to try sleeping on the ground anymore.
