I still haven't figured out why this works as well as it does, but it makes cutting chicken not only easy, but fun. With a little practice, you just need to just cut out the cartilage around the wings and thighs, and then just pull them out of the joints. Then, the backbone is practically separated and not much more is necessary. About the only cutting you need to do is for the breast bone, but that is the easiest part. The straight shears that I have used are nowhere nearly as easy. And it easily comes apart for cleaning too. They have thought this one out. You should buy it just for the pleasure of using it.

I usually don't go out of my way to write reviews so that alone should tell you that these are 100% worth the buy. They are a little pricier but for good reason. Nothing on these shears feel cheap or flimsy. There was good thought put behind the design of these. I use these primarily to spatchcock chicken and trim other chicken meat. The shears cut like butter through meat and bone. I was really surprised how well they operate. They have a safety lock feature that keeps them closed while you're not using them which is nice. They also come apart easily in 2 pieces for quick and effective cleaning which is key. They have a nice weight and feel to them which to me means quality. I recommend this product for anyone that wants to trim meat and cut through soft bones with no problems. Look no further, It is completely worth the buy.

These are absolutely the best, reasonably-priced poultry shears I've ever owned. I am a big Oxo fan, and after about 8 years needed to replace my initial pair of Good Grips kitchen shears and poultry scissors. They changed the style on the kitchen shears; those no longer have the spring load. These poultry shears still have the spring-load/lock design. These cut through chicken bone with little or no effort. I bought them only because my first pair are about 8 years old, so I'll put those in the garage for cutting twigs, maybe some pruning, etc. I sharpened them, but after 8 years a brand new pair work a bit better. At this price I am more than happy to trade them in for a new pair every 7 or 8 years!

Really works as represented. The device will easily cut through chicken bones, pork ribs, etc. Seems that the device's ability to cut through bones is only limited by the strength of your hands and the width of the blade opening. Comes apart so is easy to clean. The only shortcoming i can see is that the handles in the closed position are held together by a little plastic thing that looks as if it will break eventually.

Love these shears! They are super sharp, cut through chicken bone really easily. We feed our dogs raw food, so separating chicken quarters, cutting up turkey necks, chicken backs, and whole chickens and turkeys is something we do cnstantly. Comfort grip, easy on the hands when cutting. These shears easily cut though most poultry bones, tendons and skin. They come apart very easily for cleaning, and the little clip keeps them closed for easy, safe storage. Super good buy for the money!

I bought these so that I could spatchcock our Thanksgiving turkey this year. They made short work of cutting through the ribs. The collar bones (do turkeys have collar bones?) and pelvis were a bit harder but the large handles and the fact they're spring-loaded made it pretty easy. I like that the two halves separate with no tools so you can get them completely clean. Would definitely recommend them.

EVEN WITH ARTHRITIC HANDS I AM ABLE TO CUT A CHICKEN OR TURKEY INTO PIECES. NO TROUBLE GETTING THROUGH JOINTS OR RIBS. I HAVEN'T HAD THESE FOR LONG, SO CAN'T SPEAK TO DURABILITY. WONDERFULLY EASY TO CLEAN AND QUITE SHARP. I WOULD RECOMMEND FOR STANDARD FAMILY KITCHEN WORK. AND THEY ARE VERY REASONABLY PRICED. A GOOD DEAL ALL AROUND.

I love my two-piece Cutco scissors (used/abused for over 20 years now), but they're straight bladed, not good for cutting the backbone out of whole chickens. These were recommended by a couple of chefs I know, and I couldn't be happier. Well, maybe a redesign on the spring return is in order; this feels a bit lightweight, but overall I can't ding the product too much for something which hasn't broken yet. Using these, you feel in complete control cracking through bones, and that means they're WAY safer to use than general-purpose heavy scissors.

I bought these as a gift for my BIL. He used them to spatchcock the Thanksgiving turkey and he was very happy with them. He said they worked great They were very comfortable and easy to use. Since you guys don't know my brother in law I can only say him liking something is better than the good housekeeping seal of approval. He is the pickiest human being I know and only accepts the best of everything. These things are awesome and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

I’ve used this twice to spatchcock chickens for bbq’ing and smoking and it worked exactly how I wanted it to. It cut through the chicken like it was nothing. Waiting to do a turkey, but I don’t think it will be anymore difficult.
