DVD provided helps little ones learn the tricks!
My son (age 7) is way into magic right now and this kit has brought him endless hours of fun. The DVD provided made it easy for him to learn the tricks and he loves to show everyone what he has learned.

Such a fun purchase
This was a huge hit at our home. The box is big and no, it's not stuffed full but I wasn't expecting that. Many reviewers referred to the items inside as Dollar Store quality but personally I think they are a little better than that. Not a lot but they certainly weren't as cheap looking as I expected based on those comments. We haven't really dived into the tricks yet but we've done a few and they were fun and my daughter seemed very pleased. We've only watched a few minutes of the DVD and while it seems useful, I did find I needed to pause and review the steps so keep the remote handy. I debated for a long time about the right magic set to get my daughter and I think this was a good choice. She turned 6 five days after Christmas and even though she can read I am sure I'll still help her with the book and understanding the tricks. An older child would be able to handle most if not all of this on his or her own.

Terrific Gift for A Child
I wasn't sure about buying this for my nephew, but I'm glad I did. I was worried about the quality of the materials inside the box, but I didn't need to worry. They're well made and durable. There is also quite a bit there. My nephew absolutely loved it and, a year later, continues to put on magic shows. The tricks were simple enough for him to master, but legitimate enough for him to amaze more than a couple adults. Really a homerun for a youngster.

Amazed with the quality of this kit!
We were totally surprised how large and sturdy the box is and with the quality of the magic trick items. The box can definitely be used as the magicians table. We anticipate that the trick materials will last for many magic shows. And the degree of difficulty of the tricks will allow him to develop improved skills as he ages. I purchased it as a gift for 9 year old grandson. Unknowingly, my daughter and a friend also purchased the exact same product for him. That is how great this magic kit is. Loved by us all.

My 8-year-old son loved this gift, he even put on his own show.
I got this for my 8-year-old son for Christmas. I didn't think he liked it at first because he opened it and just took it into his room. Then about a week after Christmas, he opened it up and began to play with it. He played with it for days and keep getting me to watch him do tricks. He even put on a show for his brothers. He loved it and I loved seeing him off his iPad for a change without me having to make him. The other kids also told me they wished I would have got them one.

Great for Kids Who Know Too Little about Magic Today
Gave this Magic Kit to my 9-year-old grandson for Christmas and he--who had never even heard of Houdini or seen a magic show--was blown away. It was WADS of fun. He quickly thrilled to the sleight of hand tricks, and ecstatically performed some of them for a family audience soon afterward. Fooling adults is a natural seductive draw for boys this age. So is secrecy and intrigue. We quickly saw how performing magic is also great for the social development of an otherwise perhaps reticent, even shy, youngster who has to be outgoing and confident in order to succeed. Of the equipment, he particularly enjoyed the collapsible top hat which he supplemented with a black Dracula Halloween cape for a formidable presence. He liked he young winning magician demonstrating tricks on the CD, finding him charismatic and inspiring as he first showed the deceptions and then demonstrating the secrets of how they are done. Some supervision is helpful when things are confusing. But I applaud this kit for not dumbing down the material and encouraging kids to reach to understand more and more difficult new tricks. The big handled black cardboard box everything came in is great for holding all the pieces. My only caveat is that not all of the videos agreed with the equipment in the kit. The Cups and Balls Trick, for example, specified using red balls, of which there were only 3, not the 4 green fuzzy balls that were needed. When the trick kept failing, we finally googled it and discovered the mistake after seeing it performed by a different magician.

but this kit has enough "gimmick" tricks to put on a fun magic show
This has a bit of everything. My son wasn't willing to put in the time investment for the serious slight-of-hand tricks, but this kit has enough "gimmick" tricks to put on a fun magic show, and some of the tricks weren't even obvious to me how he did them. The winner here is the DVD - it made the difference for my attention-deficit 10 year old, as I doubt he would have been able to read through an instruction book to learn all the tricks. Just know that some of the tricks are a bit obvious, so be ready to fake amazement for them. But my son had a blast putting on the show, and he does it for any visitors who stop by.

Most played with toy at Christmas!
Of all the Christmas presents my 7 1/2 year old daughter received (Xbox one games, Super Nintendo, LOL Balls, Fingerling, Magic Fairy Wand, Bike etc) she is the most excited about this set. It is a big box with a good quality magician's magic hat and wand with a bunch of different items to do tricks inside. Well worth the $26 bucks I paid. I would've gladly spent full price.

Highly recommend for the complete beginner (like our family) and very young
The overall quality of materials isn't great, however it certainly isn't junk. I think for all you get to learn 100 tricks it's actually a pretty good deal. And the real value is in the hours of entertainment for the young magician and his audience. The book is a little weak but the instructional DVD is fantastic. All in all I'm very satisfied with the purchase, and should we decide on something better quality/more advanced in the future it will have almost certainly have been money well spent as a beginner's set. I would also hesitate to recommend anything smaller, the size and number of tricks seemed perfect for a starter kit.

A real hit at Christmastime!
My 9 year old son received this as a Christmas present. I was thrilled when he opted to play with this gift over any other that day. He intently watched the video to learn how to do a handful of tricks and then proceeded to put on a "Magic Show" for his grandparents later that day. A few months later, he just did another "Magic Show" in his school's talent show program. The reaction from the crowd of kids was priceless. The kit includes a box with a handle that keeps everything together and stores away nicely. Overall, the kit I believe will grow with him as well. As I mentioned, he learned a handful of tricks right away (the easier ones), but as he gets older, I believe the other ones will be good as well.
