When it is not in use, you can lock the handel down for extra space ( it is not as tall) the metal removable piece measures where you would like your papers to be punched and papers can be punched in the same spot every time to allow papers to line up with a clean tidy edge.
Perfect for what I want it for. Punches through medium weight chipboard perfectly and the holes are exactly the right distance apart for the desk calendars I am makes. I am so very happy with this product!!!!!!!!

As an attorney, I am constantly having to punch 2 hole documents and just plain notepaper (unless I love white). Please do not ask me why more paper doesn't come with two holes punched already...I mean there are a lot of attorneys out there who would buy paper like that...but I digress. This punch can and does punch about 40 pages at a time. If you put that much in there, you need to push a little harder, but it works great. This is a great device, at a very low price point. It is a no brainer.
I am using this to make sketchbooks for my elementary age students. This thing is great! It punches through multiple layers and didn't fatigue my hand. Great bang for the buck!!
I use this item for school work. It works so well, I generally punch about 15 papers or more at a time and this has not failed me, like that you can adjust. It may look old school but I would rather have something heavy and strong than something that is plastic and cute. I would recommend this highly.
i like everything about this hole punch. it is very strong. made entirely out of metal. like something you would see from the 1930s. not sure it punches through 50 sheets but i have done 35 to 40. 30 it normal for it. love it. work in litigation and it helps so much putting together the motions.
