The product I received looks just like the picture. I just received it yesterday and it has works great so far. I have not attached it to a post/wall yet and have used it on top of a counter with a rag underneath it. It feels very sturdy and has crushed about 20 cans so far.

I've only had the THE CRUSHER installed for a few days, but I'm really happy with it so far. In that time, I went through a several hundred can backlog with absolutely no problems or complaints. Although far from a skilled and experienced do-it-yourselfer, I incorporated a few suggestions from other reviewers into my installation. I attached a 2 foot section of a 1X4 I had on hand to a wall stud and secured THE CRUSHER to it, aligning the device close to flush with the top edge of the board, to prevent wall damage, while allowing complete device range of motion for taller cans. I also lubed the device, and put skateboard grip tape at the bottom of the THE CRUSHER to help prevent cans from flying/falling out. Based on my experience, the grip tape might need to be replaced after several hundred cans are crushed, but it is a quick and easy thing to do, and seems to be a very effective mod. I placed a recycling can below the THE CRUSHER and went at it. It was surprisingly quick and easy to make my way through the hundreds of cans. I really kinda enjoyed it, and was disappointed when, at the end of the process, the final bin I thought contained cans was found to be empty and the chore was completed (surprisingly= true!). A vast improvement over my previous method of can crushing, the "fill the garage floor with cans and stomp, while often resetting up cans upright when they are knocked down by flying cans" method (less effective, more time consuming, and often frustrating = the mentioned hundreds of cans backlog).

Have tried various can crushers in the past, all have failed to go past a few months if you are going to use them for any length of time, this can crusher is very durable for the long hall. I made some modification's to hopefully extend the life of this product, I've found that you need to secure any can crusher to a backing and secure this backing to the wall studs of the wall. I used 2x4's and cut them to the desired length and bolted them, then I used some hex nets to reinforce the handles for a stronger pull and last some of the reviews complained about the cans following out and said to bend the bottom lip, this may work well, however I chose to drill holes at the bottom and secure it with some galvanized pipe straps, nothing flies out now. Note, if you chose to do this, do this before you attach to the backing also drill below the end pull of the handle. This is a well made product and if the manufacturer would just add these modifications it would beat anything out there for the price.

Aw man this crusher right here is the business...The old one I had could only smash 12 oz. cans, this puppy can smash 16 oz. cans with a little pinch of your fingers into the can and it smashes it with ease. You do have to pinch the can some to have a better smashing experience and to prevent it from popping out. Don't smash it so fast either, that's the problem, don't take your anger out on the can, it just a can...lol, I got 3 big black trash bags full of smashed can in about a month and 1/2. The last time I recycled, I had about 5 bags and got $112. It's a $1.00 per lb. here. If I were in Calif. I'd get more $$. But, I've had no problems yet out of the Crusher. I'm hopefully looking to keep this Crusher for years to come. I installed it in drywall with drywall anchors and it holds quite well.

Awesome product! Especially for the reasonable price. It works well and crushes cans easily. I love that it’s all metal and crushes our 12 oz and 16 oz cans. We haven’t tried any bigger than 16 oz yet. We have crushed several trash cans worth of aluminum cans thus far and the handle is still holding up. I’ve seen the review that the handle might easily come apart, but I’m not too worried. If/when it does come apart I can take out the pieces and put a nut and bolt in that spot(I might even go crazy and put something like duct tape or a rubber material around that nut and bolt). Usually I don’t buy things that I know will require additional work but the price was right and it’s an easy fix for an overall good product. My feedback on the can crusher is that the bottom where you place the cans could use some work. The cans tend to fly out when you try to crush them. If the bottom had a lip like the sides or some sort of rough finish it would solve the problem. We cut a piece of sandpaper and taped it in the bottom which seemed to solve the problem. Overall I love this can crusher and I would definitely buy more if I had a use for them.

Great can crusher. I used a vise grip to bend up and create a lip on the base where the can rest to keep the can from slipping out when I applied downward pressure to crush the can. (Adding a photo of the bend in the base. Excuse the dirt but I use this crusher a lot.) Apply some WD 40 or Garage Door lubricant to all moving hinge and pinion points before using. This will ensure ease of operation and extend the life of the crusher.I hope this helps.

Installation: The can crusher comes with a paper template that was spot-on, as well as three REALLY meaty screws. All I had to do is punch each mark on the template and then pre-drill the location where I wanted it, right on a stud. As you can see in the last picture, there's a hole without a screw on the top left. I'm really not sure why they only supplied three screws, but the packaging literally said that it came with three, so it wasn't missing something. Anyway, I assumed that the top middle and bottom middle (the only one on the bottom) were to attached to a stud, and either the top left or right was used to stabilize it a bit. This is what actually happened. With just the top and bottom center screws fully tightened, it did wiggle just a little bit left and right. I'm talking minuscule here; it probably would have been find with just the top and bottom center screws. I add the top right one, however, and it did stabilize it better. Operation: As-is, the crusher works perfectly with out any issue. I crushed around 40 cans for recycling in no time at all. One thing to note: It does operate a little rough, so I sprayed white lithium grease on all of the pivot points, as well as the contact surface where the crush plate slides and it now operates WAY more smoothly. Just a tiny little spritz is all it took on each spot. Overall, I'm very happy I have this and kick myself for not getting it sooner! If you have questions or want more pictures, let me know and I'll post them up (if that's allowed)

very strong product and very sturdy.. I just wish I had looked at how many ounces were on my ice tea cans before I bought it .. this will take up to 16oz. cans and mine are 22oz. ..to solve this issue I take a mallet to it and crush it down a little then crush it... works pretty good this way... only two issues with product.. they should have put a small brace or cross bar at the bottom so the cans don't slide out when crushing them.. this would take care of them sliding out I might just weld it on myself ...or you can put your hand at the bottom to hold it.. about half way let it go and it will stay from there til you've crushed it all the way... second is that you cant open the handle all the way up if you screw it down flat..so I cut a piece of wood that fits on the back between the screws then screwed it down on a second piece of wood..i did this so i can move it anywhere i want to... this gives it enough space for the handle to open all the way back..I would recommend this can crusher to any one...

I read the reviews and decided to make several of the suggested mods and used an alternate mounting method. We are very happy with the unit and it has paid for itself several times in a very short period of time. First, I reinforced the two pivot/hinges with washers, nuts and bolts. One reviewer had a pivot pop apart, that will never happen to mine. The rest of it would fall apart first. Second, I used a Knipex Pliers Wrench to make a slight upward bend or "lip" to the front edge of the platform the cans are crushed on. The slight bend keeps the cans from popping out of the crusher. I can always bend it a bit more but so far this slight bend has solved the problem. Someone suggested mounting the crusher to a board so it can be slid under a couch out of the way. I mounted mine to a board but decided to do this instead of mounting it to a table leg. I cut the screws used to mount the crusher to the board so they don't extend out the back side. They won't scratch the table leg or the floor if we use it horizontally. I used three "zip-tie straps" to hold the board to the table leg. The board is long enough it rests on the floor, bracing the rig. The straps only hold the board flat against the table leg and don't need to counter the crushing force. I can easily snip the zip ties and stow the setup anywhere. It would probably be easy to clamp the board to a table, door, cabinet, whatever. Works great. EDIT: I used a Qtip to spread a little Slideez Lubricant where the metal crusher slides inside the device. The crushers is so much smoother now. Where you see wear marks, just apply a little Slideez. This is great stuff. You also want this for your plastic refrigerator / freezer drawers and any other drawers that drag.
