Works great. The rubber gasket seems too big, but it works. Hook it up to your air compressor, and you're in business. Some say 15-20 psi; I found that was a bit low. I used 30psi. I have no idea what the brake system is able to handle. It rubs me the wrong way to pay $25 for a plastic cap, a gasket, a brass barb fitting, and two clamps. But the effort in recreating this from a spare master cylinder cap - nah. It might be nice to put a check valve in the line between the air fitting and the cap. Releasing the pressure suddenly makes the brake fluid splash and do other funny stuff. I would turn the compressor pressure down, but that's kind of a pain to do after each wheel.
I modified a small garden sprayer to pressure bleed my brakes. I tried several different methods to cap the reservoir on my BMW and then apply pressure but since it is a metric thread I could get a proper seal thus causing leaks and brake fluid everywhere. I then decided to break down and order this adapter. I now wish I had not wasted my time trying to rig something on the cheap. This adapter was a perfect fit for the BMW brake reservoir, there were absolutely no leaks, no mess and the brake bleeding job too mere minutes to accomplish, so quickly I as first though I had done something incorrect because it was so easy. Pressure bleeding your brakes is the only way to go!
I bought this for the motive power break bleeder that I already had from working on old Volkswagens, and it worked perfectly to help flush the brake fluid in our 2010 Volvo XC 90. With this attachment enabling the use of the power bleeder, I was able to fully flush the brake fluid in our Volvo in under 20 minutes .
This product worked great to bleed the clutch on my 1994 F-250 with a ZF5. No where on their website did Motive say that this would work for my application, but after measuring the cap on my clutch master cylinder I derived that this adapter would be what I needed. It work great and made bleeding my clutch much easier.
Fits 2013 A4 just right. I used this to bleed my brakes on a B8.5 A4 and it held pressure very well. Be aware though, that on the B8.5 A4 the factory service manual says you need to use 30 PSI of pressure to properly bleed the brakes. Motive recommends 15 psi. It takes a while to pump up with the hand pump but without 30 psi you will not bleed the fluid in the ABS module, which is important!
Just be careful not to tighten too much, otherwise it'll be a pain to unscrew, and you might risk damaging the master cylinder reservoir. Just snug it up and do a 15psi pressure test to make sure there are no leaks. Great addition to my Motive collection!
Fit BMW e46 brake reservoir, placed system under 5psi of pressure and bled brakes. If you have an air compressor this is far better money than the $$$ brake bleeding pumps. Just don’t let the reservoir go dry and add fluid after bleeding each caliper.
Best bleeder i ever bought was the motive pressue bleeder. Tried vacuum but it just sucks air passed bleed screw thread. I just buy the relevent cap for each vehicle i buy.
Probably not quite as nice as the aluminum version, but works great to power bleed your clutch. It's especially useful to get fluid moving after a master/slave/clutch line replacement when the line is completely dry.
Other than having to remove the huge cover on top of the engine, this job went almost as quickly as when I bled my truck. Easy to use and most importantly, you can bleed brakes by yourself.
