I got this to replace the tube-style wheel on my wheelbarrow. I was surprised by all of the choices and sizes. My old tire had "4.00/4.80" on it and an 8" diameter hub so I thought this would fit. I did not want to mess around with another tube-style tire and worry about inflation, cracking, or maintenance and or only about $8 more I got this flat-free wheel. Installation for me was super straightforward, the old wheel came off with 4 bolts and the axle fit right into this wheel, the hole for the axle was exactly the same size. This wheel comes with a few different bushings intended for different hubs. This wheel has the same sized hub but the tire itself is a slightly lower diameter, about 1", but this doesn't cause any problem in the operation of the wheelbarrow. Overall a great buy, probably the last wheelbarrow wheel I'll ever buy.

As you can see, I had a "helper" to bring me tools and test the durability of this new tire. :D The 5/8" bearings fit, so I didn't even need to swap them out. Removing the rusted old brackets was the hardest part of this job (with a 1/2" ratchet it took under a minute). This tire feels really solid and I love that I'll never have to deal with airing it up before getting to work. I re-tightened the brackets and used this immediately to haul some cleared brush and huge bags of leaves. It rolls smoothly over all terrain, from my cracked driveway to the low, muddy part of the yard we're filling in. No squeaking, no bogging down, no drama. I will be storing the wheel barrow upright with pressure off the tire just to prevent "flat spot", but honestly I don't think that's necessary to keep the tire holding its shape. Bottom line: buy with confidence and chunk that pneumatic hunk of junk!

Perfect fit for my wheelbarrow. Used it to replace a tire that was constantly flat every time I needed the wheelbarrow. Now I no longer have to worry about it or waste my time airing up a tire when I need my wheelbarrow. Easy to install. If you are looking to upgrade to a simpler, low maintenance tire then look no further.

Our wheelbarrow was about 25 years old, and the front tire had to be aired up every time I used it. I had put new handles on it a few years back. I ordered this flat free wheel and tire, it took less than 5 minutes to install, only one side of the axle carrier has to be unbolted, slipped in a spacer on each side, and it was good to go. It makes some scrunchy noises with a heavy load, but works fine. Rolls pretty easy, even with a full load of landscaping rock. And no more flat tires!

I like the feel of a inflatable tire on a wheelbarrow, but I hate it when it goes flat. The wheel comes close to the feel, and I don't have to worry about it going flat. The shims were good enough to center the wheel with about a 1/2" total play on the axil - That is OK. The grease fitting had to oriented to use the grease gun on it, but it all worked out OK. I gave it grease till some stated coming out of the near bearing. I figure there must be enough in the center of the hub to work its way over to the far bearing. So far so good. There were 3/4" bearing with it, in case I had a 3/4" shaft.

I was a little confused by some of the other reviews. They seem to be for other types like 3/4" bearings and solid tires. This review marathon universal fit and is for pneumatic tire with 5/8 " bearing 3" hub and 8" wheel. Total diameter 14.5 ". My garden cart was a perfect fit. I did not need the many adapters supplied although they were included to extend to 6" axel and 3/4" or 1/2" bearing. If you have a 3/4" bearing warning - the adapters are just plastic shims so you would have to drive out the nice greased 5/8" ball bearing to use cheap plastic sleeves. For my purposes the tire and rim and 5/8" bearing are perfect. It went on in 30 seconds. Easy peasy and great quality. Rating?--A++. Just make sure that you have the right size.

These wheels salvaged an old 2 wheel barrow I had ignored for years.. The Stanley plastic tub and the oak handles needed a little cleaning..but, I had let the original tires with tubes basically rot. These wheels and solid tires are just right. The bearing that came installed in the new wheels fit my 3/4" axle. There are several others included with the package. I did use the spacers furnished to center the wheels. For $52.00 I have a new wheelbarrow.

Found that these were terribly easy to put on my wheelbarrow , which was the only reason I didn't want to buy them, but it took about 10 minutes to pull off the old full of air tires, that were no longer full of air, and put these that do NOT depend on having air in the tires. They work great, and now I can get back to my work with my wheelbarrow. I really do believe they will be the last wheelbarrow tires I will need to buy for the rest of my life.

Excellent retrofit for my wheelbarrow. It's a bit narrower than the tubeless tire it replaced, but for my application, that's not a problem. It comes with enough different spacers (and two sizes of bearings) that it probably will fit virtually any wheelbarrow. I wondered whether the lesser "spring" in a flat-free wheel (vs. a tubed or tubeless pneumatic) would be a negative. Actually, in my opinion, it's not. Much of my use is for hauling bark mulch. With the more springy pneumatic wheel I once used, going over bumps tended to toss mulch out of the wheelbarrow (sort of like over-active shock absorbers). This doesn't happen with the more rigid, flat-free tire -- yet it's not too rigid. Highly recommended.

This is a HUGE improvement over fighting flat tires on my wheel barrows. Invariably, when I want to use my wheelbarrow, the tire was flat...even after buying an expensive new inner tube for one of my wheels. Total disaster. This flat-free wheel works like a champ and rolls pretty much like the original air tire (when it was properly inflated). I've now replaced this wheel on both of my wheelbarrows. Also, although slightly larger diameter than my original wheels, it works fine. No noticeable difference. Bottom Line: Slightly expensive, but well worth it...Highly recommended!
