Great first jigsaw puzzle for my soon to be 3 year old. The puzzles come in a wooden box with four compartments and a lid that slides on easily. I will definitely be repurposing this box after my son outgrows these puzzles. The pieces easily fit in the box after opening. One thing I like, a very clever feature, is that even if all 4 puzzles are opened at the same time, it is easy to sort them out simply by turning them over, as each puzzle has its own marking (diamond, square, circle, triangle). Great opportunity to sort by shapes! Most of the puzzle pieces are pretty specific to its corresponding puzzle, so my son was able to put the puzzles together (for the most part) one by one even when he mixed up all the pieces. These are 12 piece puzzles, so your little dissectologist may outgrow them fairly soon. I think the only complaint would be the pictures of the puzzles (as seen on the box) are a bit small, but my son does not use the pictures as a guideline anyways.

My toddler is crazily fascinated about school bus, fire truck and train! He is now 22-month-old and this is his favorite toy! He is still so excited to play with it EVERY SINGLE DAY. And he can play with it over and over again throughout the day. He got really frustrated when I first got him tho. So be prepared to deal with his/her frustration if you get it too early when their motor skills are not that advanced. But it's totally worth it when you see how fast your baby can put them together now and they will show you their proud face when they know they get the right piece ;)

I did find the best price on Amazon. This box of puzzles was great for my 3 year old who's interested in jigsaw puzzles but gets frustrated by the cardboard pieces that don't lie flat/are difficult to keep together. These pieces are wood-type material and fit together nicely, and flat! There are four puzzles that have different colored shapes on the back of each puzzle pieces so that you can easily sort them.... yes, your toddler will inevitably mix all the pieces together at some point. Each puzzle has a nice "border" on the picture to help toddlers figure out where the pieces go. A few other nice features--a cute wooden box to store them in (isn't that why we all love Melissa and Doug?). And for the cherry on top? You can use the top of the box as a good spot to build the puzzles if you don't have a good flat spot (in the car? on a thick rug?) with some nice boundaries to them to keep the puzzle in place. You can then slide the top off the box to transport and slide the completed puzzle elsewhere and then start over with a new puzzle.

I purchased this for my two and a half year old daughter after reading a blogger who started her kid on jigsaw puzzles around 2 by modifying and helping him a bit. The first few times we played I helped her a lot, and then after that moved to helping her find corner pieces and edges, and then within a few weeks she was doing them completely independently! In the past month since we've had them they have provided endless hours of individual, quiet playtime. I love the way they do 4 puzzles, and mark the back with different shapes, so should they be mixed up they can easily sort the shapes. It's easy enough to take one set out at a time, slide the lid on and get going!

I love Melissa and Doug Puzzles. The wooded construction and toddler orientated pictures makes these great items for all kids. The ease of taking the puzzles out and having them go right back into its only box makes clean up very easy for parents. The way the puzzles are separated in the box helps toddlers learn how to organize and put toys away neatly.

My 2.5 year old son loves these puzzles!! He likes to make each one. Then he'll lay them all out next to each other to show me. This is a great quiet time activity for any toddler. And it's the perfect size and number of pieces to where he can do them on his own, so mommy can get some things done. Score! It also comes with a cute little box to store all the pieces when they're not being played with. The only slightly annoying part is that since there are 4 different puzzles, you have to match up all the pieces to each puzzle. But there are handy little shapes on the back of each piece, so it makes it easy to find all the pieces to each puzzle.

Solid, well-made M&D product that is loved by my 2 year old. The pieces are sturdy (compared to thin cardboard puzzle pieces elsewhere), relatively easy (depending on individual fine motor skill development) for a toddler to piece together, and the graphics well done. Some adult help is usually needed (had advanced beyond the peg puzzles) but these will keep my toddler entertained until we complete all 4 puzzles. I will also note that the puzzle is especially well designed for this age group. We have worked on other puzzles where the background is so similar it even takes the adult an extra minute to find the correct piece - not so with these puzzles. The box keeps each puzzle organized separately for easy storage/use (we haven't lost a piece yet, knock on wood) and the pieces also have a unique shape on the back to further identify each puzzle. Overall, a great next puzzle for those moving beyond the earlier wooden/peg puzzles.

Love it. It's a decent toy without the flashing lights and noise most toys in the store come with. As a parent you probably know how annoying noisy toys are. This toy allows for critical thinking I in a child. For a younger kid, you may want to try what another reviewer suggested, trace out the pieces on the wooden cover to help out the child figure it out initially. The 4 puzzles have exactly the same pieces . Buying the dinosaur puzzle by Melissa and Doug right now

Our grandson is 3; I wasn't positive he was old enough for puzzles yet, but he enjoys seek-and-find games, so I thought what the heck. If nothing else, I'd store them until he was ready. Well, no storeage needed. These puzzles are great! And solid enough to withstand the force a toddler boy puts on pieces he feels should go together, even though they obviously don't. :) Despite the hours of abuse, the puzzle pieces are all intact (they're wood), and the picture is still clear / not scratched at all. I saw a few reviews where people complained that the puzzles were so small. They are small. Each puzzle piece is about 2"x2", and if memory serves there are 12 pieces per puzzle. Perfect puzzles for young kiddos just getting started. Very durable, good sized pieces for them to handle, and a simple design on each puzzle for them to learn to look for visual cues on what piece they need (i.e. I'll ask him "where's the rest of the tree?" and he can easily spot the piece he needs.) For parents who hate sorting stuff, you're safe. On the back of each puzzle piece is a symbol. There are four symbols, one symbol on each piece of the puzzle that goes together. So you can toss everything in the box without keeping the puzzles sorted, then just flip the pieces upside down and easily sort out the four different puzzle's pieces. Whew. So impressed, I ordered him another set to take home. Dinosaurs!
