I bought this to be used for an adult who has many bowel and bladder issues and who has to wear disposable undergarments. This thing is wonderful! It keeps all odors in and I don't worry about my house smelling bad. It is easy to use and there is no waste of bags. I simply empty it on trash pick up days and start a new bag by cutting off and tying where the new bag needs to begin. I highly recommend this product.

Hi, I’m a mom to four boys, 2 of whom are still in diapers. I’ve been looking for an easy pail that kept the smell in but was about as simple to use as an open trash can lol I’ve had the Dekor Plus diaper pail for about a month now and it’s filled all of my requirements. My diapered boys are almost 2 and 4 so we’re dealing with the serious smells here and I’ve had this pail full of dirty diapers and my bathroom door open and I couldn’t tell at all. The smell hits ya a bit when you’re dropping a diaper or changing the bag, but that’s expected. It’s doesn’t linger though! I love the “choose your size” bags, I don’t feel wasteful when I do want to empty the pail early. I also appreciate that I can easily cut the bag off with the blade included in the door. All in all, I wish I would have had this pail four boys ago (although it wasn’t invented then lol) it would have saved me a ton of nasty smells and frustration!

Overall I'm happy with my purchase. My previous Diaper Genie broke and based on reviews this one seems better. I wouldn't say better, I would say the same as the Diaper Genie Completes. The one I replaced was the basic model, so I've upgraded to the foot pedal which is a bonus, but the other two diaper genies I have (the completes) already have that feature and for less money. Functionally, I'd say it's better than the basic Diaper Genie and comparable to the Complete model. The main issue I have (and I use the term issue lightly, as it's not that big of one) is the smell. It's no better at containing the stink than the Diaper Genies. For the most part, the smell is only noticeable when you're tossing a new diaper in, but it still stinks. (maybe my boys just smell worse than others...) Pros: Aesthetically, it looks nicer, like a trashcan and not a diaper disposer. Bigger pail, which holds more diapers, so less changing out bags. No plastic refill container, less mess for the environment When done with diapers, it can easily be used as a trashcan, nice bonus. Cons: A bit more in price Smell containment isn't "better", just the same. Bigger pail also equals more smell.

Purchased this for adult depends and poise pads. This works great! The mouth was large enough for adult products, and the bags are easy to change (I change them myself, the elderly do not), and the scent keeping is as well as can be expected. There aren't many "full" diapers that enter the pail, however a halfway filled bag can leave an odor in a medium sized bathroom pretty quickly. If you need a pail the 2pk refills are economical and a fabreze plugins will benefit your piece of mind. Owned for over three months of continued use with no issues.

Two babies and four pails later, this is the hands-down winner. In my opinion, the holy grail of the not-offesively-stinky diaper pail is the Dekor liners. I've seen comments on using trash bags with it. I'm telling you, the liners are the way to go. I understand the instinct to avoid liners. When I had the munchkin pail, I could have wiped out baby's college fund on the refills. About 20 liners for 15-20 bucks. And that was the grossest, stinkiest pail I ever owned. The thing about the liners is this: if you want to empty a diaper pail once a week or less, and have an odor free house... you're going to have to get rid of the baby. Try not flushing your toilet for a week or two. Know what I mean? But with this pail, and the pleasantly-scented liners, you can empty at any time, removing only the portion of the liner you've used. Sometimes I empty once a day, sometimes I go a few days. Super easy to empty, and the new liner is already there. One refill lasts me about 6 weeks. So a two pack of refills for 10-12 dollars gets me about 3 months of use, emptying the pail as much as I please. I'd probably spend more on trash bags. As for odor control, this pail is as good as the Ubbi I owned before. And much easier to drop the diapers into than the Ubbi. You do not have to shove them in like other pails, just foot pedal and drop. I also keep reusable charcoal pouches in the bottom compartment with the bag for a little extra odor control. To me, this does everything a good diaper pail should, and it's easy to use. As long as you have realistic expectations and empty it regularly, you will be happy with this pail.

So here's my consensus on this diaper pail business we're new to the scene on at 20 months. I was OK with a small trash can, still would be. It holds the same amount and this is the plus size 😬. This is 2 days worth of wet diapers - about 10-14. All containers will emit smell once you add another diaper from what I've heard of if a dirty is in there regardless of the material the pail was built with. Thus the smaller pail sticks around for the dirty business that's only a couple times nowadays (👏🏼) which goes straight out the door. If we lived in a 2-story I might view this differently. The pail does a great job though and LO already tried to stick his finger into the baby-proof bag cutter. Frightening but it did its job.

Love this diaper pail so much that I bought two- one for disposables and wipes, another for cloth diapers. We are 7 weeks in and both are holding up beautifully. I love that there is no smell from either pail, and we let ours go a lot longer than we should between changes (literally diapers piling up so the lid won't close properly). Baby is on exclusively breast milk, so we will see how these do once we move to solids. The pails looks great in the nursery, and I love that there are multiple colors to choose from. Highly recommend these for both cloth and disposable diapers!

I can’t believe my life has come to this, but I am writing a review abut diaper pails. But, I feel that my gained knowledge about #2s is worthy of being passed on, and although it might sound a little silly, I have become strangely enamored with my diaper pail, the Dekor. We have 5 kids, and over the years, I’ve changed a lot of diapers. The first diaper pail we got years ago was a diaper genie, and I was never a fan. My biggest complaint was that after you had changed the diaper, you had to push said stinky, gross, and sometimes - otherworldly large diaper thru a small hole on the genie… squishing it to fit into a small hole would often cause, let’s call it “spillage”, that would get poop on your hand, on the pail, and generally places where you don’t want poop. Remember, you are doing this while holding your bundle of everlasting joy in one arm while reaching down to stuff the otherworldly large diaper into an unfathomably small hole. Not an easy task. And then, we discovered the Dekor. It rocks. Why? It’s HANDS FREE. Game changer. It has a foot pedal that opens the pail, then you simply drop the diaper thru the trap door. That’s it! Let me tell you, when it’s 3 a.m., and you are a zombie from lack of sleep, you need this process to be as simple as possible. I shudder to think the number of diapers that I have changed over the years, but this diaper pail makes it a lot easier than it was with the Genie. There is another pail that we looked at, the Ubbi, that cost quite a bit more and is made of metal. I looked at in in the store, and it also requires bending over, and sliding a door open, inserting a diaper, and then sliding it closed when finished. Kind of a pain to do every time you change a diaper. It is made of metal, so it shouldn’t absorb odors like the diaper genie did, but the Dekor is made of ABS that doesn’t absorb odors either, so I don’t see the big deal. Another think about the metal pails. In my research (isn’t it a bit sad that I’ve done research? – We really need to get out more), the manufacturer says to clean with a dry cloth. No cleaning products or even water. Ok, that is just gross. With Dekor, clean with whatever household cleaner you want, let’s kill any germs that are hanging around. Bags. Different pails have different systems. Some use household kitchen bags, some use cartridges of bags. Dekor comes with a loaded refill, and in my opinion, that is the way to go. You use what you need, and then switch out the bag. We tried using a kitchen bag instead of the refill in the Dekor, and it was ok, but honestly, we preferred the refill. It’s always there and ready to go, you only use what you need, and in the long run I bet it costs about the same. Stink. Stank. Stunk. – (Prepare for more wisdom). Poop stinks. Shocking isn’t it? There's a reason every diaper pail that's been around more than a couple months has a bunch of 1 star reviews. Go look at all the other product. Notice they're all about 3.5 or 4 stars. Then click on the 1 star link for each of them and you'll see what I mean. You'll see dozens of people talk about how each product is terrible and every pail sticks to high heaven. Mostly that's because people have unrealistic expectations that buying a diaper pail means you never have to smell poopy diapers. This is compounded by the fact that the poop only starts to smell once your bundle of everlasting joy begins eating solids. So when you first bring the baby home you think everything is great and the pail is working perfectly and then all of the sudden the pail is terrible and horrible and is broken... Well it's not broken, your baby's poop just didn't used to stink and now it does. Here's the truth, no matter which on you buy, you're gonna smell poop. whether it's when you open the lid or remove the bag, they all allow a little stank to escape. Dekor is no different, it just allows less than the others. Sometimes we go a few days between changing the bag, sometimes we switch it out quicker due to one of those otherworldly poops. The box for the Dekor says it can hold 60 diapers. We might have gone close to that with some newborn diapers, but once the poop got serious, we never waited that long. Reading back over this, I can’t believe I just wrote a manifesto on diaper pails. But, I thought I would share some of the knowledge I have gained over thousands of diapers. I just think the Dekor works. It’s the easiest to use of all the diaper pails by far, and handles the smell. I highly recommend it.

Comparison: Genie, Plus, Classic *I hope this review and photos are helpful! This is the review I wanted when trying to decide which Dekor to buy. Updated Note 5/2018: We have used this for close to six months now. While I do still love it, it has started to stink. My husband comments on it. He didn't share that complaint very often with the Genie. The entire unit stinks, not just when I am opening the trap down to drop a diaper. When I open the main door to remove the diapers, a big waft hits me before I have even disturbed the diaper bag. I do believe the smell seeps through the bags (I started with their own and have just recently tried Babyfeel just to see if that brand might be better - seems to be the same). Once the smell seeps through the bag, I'm pretty sure it is being absorbed by the plastic. To combat this issue, I am going to bag the stinky diapers and either dispose of them right away or have them double bagged with a grocery sack. Also, I did dump some baking soda into the bag once and that helped absorb the odor. I still am not ready to go back to a Genie, but I did want to add a word of caution if you are switching for scent control. Original review, unchanged: We used the Genie for 21 months now and I'm glad to move on. The sleeves were annoying and so frequently had to shake/rock the unit around to get the diapers to drop. Occasionally, with a large, full diaper, I had to push it in. Yuck. This won't happen with a NB size, but a size 4, yes. Also, the Genie sleeves are a bit more costly. Plus: love it! The trap door is spring loaded for the right weight of a diaper and it closes very quickly. I thought the lower height might become a complaint of mine, but since I don't have to push the diaper in, it isn't an issue. My one and only complaint is that the bags are a noisy plastic when removing the bag (think grocery sack). Not really an issue, but I did frequently gather them after the toddler was sleeping. Easy to change my ways for the benefit of loving the pail! Other reasons to love: +price! ($32 Warehouse open box!) +replacement bag price +shape of canister +contains smell very well +sleek appearance +easy to remove bag +foot pedal +large trap door compared to Classic +lid can disassemble to become a garbage with a lid (I didn't verify this, but it was a bonus feature in my selection of Dekor) Classic: Same benefits as the Plus, except that the trap door is smaller. See pictures if this is important to you. It don't make a difference for a newborn, but I like the size for our size 5 toddler diapers! Also, the classic holds quite a few less diapers. It doesn't feel too much smaller than the Plus. I think you would be happy with either if you don't mind changing the bag a bit more often, and if the trapdoor size isn't an issue. I did not physically use this one since I plan to return it. I'm sure the door is large enough, but since there was a big difference between the two trapdoors, I wanted the larger. Refills cost the same per diaper capacity when I did the math. Overall, the Plus seems comparable to the Genie in capacity, is more user-friendly, contains the smell better since the trap door shuts so quickly with each use, and is more cost effective. And, it can be used as a garbage in the future. I'm a Dekor convert for sure! *I think you would be happy with the Classic as well, but no one wants to change them out anymore than you have to. See the pictures for size difference; the trapdoor size was the factor that swayed me to keep the Plus and return the Classic. I hoped the Classic would fit beside our toilet in the bathroom, but it is too large for the space. I may try the mini, though I would imagine the trapdoor will be somewhat small for pull-ups and toddler diapers. (Not a verified observation, just a guess) The last photo is the Genie compared to the Plus.

For pet owners living in apartments, not near the dumpster, a diaper trash can is gonna be your BFF to dispose of poo bags/litter until trash day. This thing traps the odor and ensures my apartment doesn't smell like an unkempt animal shelter. I have 2 cats and a dog so pet waste is probably more than half of my own trash and yet it persists and keeps those odors locked in. Pet approved, owner recommended.
