I purchase this jar to use for my bread starter storage; but this jar is way too big to use for a bread starter. In addition that it would not fit on the top shelf of my refrigerator. The jar holds up to 6 pounds. I have purchase 6 / 32oz bags of Gluten Free Flour and can get all bags in with a little extra room to spare. ( In the first photo the pitcher is standing next to a 34oz Liter Anchor jar and in the second picture the 2-1/2 Gallon jar is sitting in my kitchen sink, so that Amazon shoppers can get an inkling on how large the Anchor Hocking Montana 2-1/2 Gallon jar. ( because the picture given, gives the consumers the impression that this jar is not that large).

This product was recommended in a book for brewing Kombucha. It is the best deal for this purpose, don't mess with the spigot ones, they get clogged and you have to purchase the stainless steal spout. Just use a auto siphon with a bottling wand when bottling for ease, you dont need the siphon but will need tubing and preferably bottling wand.Fermtech Regular 5/16" Auto Siphon with 8 feet of Tubing, clear, 1 pieceSpring Loaded Beer Bottle Filler

I carefully purchased this item to give my two fish a new bigger home. Going from 2 smaller 1 gallon bowls to this 2.5 gal beauty. The glass is thick and I don't have to worry about leakage issues as I've had from cheap small fish aquariums. I am customizing with colorful decorations as well as live plants. My fish are happy as can be! 🐟

I use it to keep flour. The most convenient thing about this type of jar is that you don`t need to unscrew lids. And I like how these jars look. I have 2.5 and 1.5 gal. Perfect. It`s probably not airtight, but there are no bugs appear inside (have used them for almost a year)

I bake a lot and needed something that would hold more than 5 ols. of sugar or flour at a time. This is perfect, it holds a 25 lb. bag of sugar and 15 lbs of flour and I could probably fit 25 lbs. flour too, but I haven't tried to do that yet. I love the wide mouth, it makes it easier to get my hand and the scoop in and out of the container without any issues. The jars are a little heavy especially with the sugar and flour in them, but I placed them where I don't have to move them to use them. It keeps my sugar dry, even in the humid south. I will purchase again when needed and I recommend to everyone. This is a good value all around.

I was searching for something that looks nice to keep in my bathroom that I could add a large bag of Epsom salts to. This fits the bill! It holds nearly 20 pounds of Epsom salts and it looks great doing the job! I keep it right next to the tub and I keep a metal scoop in the jar so that it's easy to get the salts out. The lid fits well, but isn't so tight that I struggle to open it. A friend recently stopped by and asked where she could get this jar for HER Epsom salts. I had one sent to her. She loves it as well. I am so happy I found this jar--it was exactly what I was looking for. Thank you, Amazon!

I finally have something for my giant bags of rice! and it will last forever. Sorry, Its products like this that make living on food stamps much easier. I don't want to use all plastic for long term storage, since that can be bad for food, and now I can actually buy an important staple in bulk easily, and not have people "accidentally" spill a whole bag of rice everywhere. I wish it was cheaper, or I would get more to get everything I can in bulk, and have a safe and healthy place to put it. It will take time, but I will have a matching collection for my own kitchen someday.

We bought these a few years back. The rubber seals on the lids are still perfect. The glass is nice and thick. We own 5 of them in various sizes for flour, sugar, beans, and wheat. We've even had brown sugar in one and it didn't get clumpy hard at all. great purchase.

I make tortillas de harina for my family quite often, so I decided to buy this big glass jar to store the flour. I wanted an air-tight glass container to preserve the freshness and keep the bugs out. I was very pleased with this jar, especially with the "swish" sound when one hears closing the air-tight lid...until I washed the lid. I washed it by hand, disassembling the inside parts, and when I put it back together, the air-tightness was gone and I just ended up with a loose lid and a silicon seal that served no purpose. I looked in the Qs&As and researched the Internet for instructions on how to reassemble the lid, but I found nothing. After fidgeting with it for a while, I was ready to toss the whole thing when I noticed the grooves in the inside round "thingy" that holds the knob in place. They're sort of "tracks" that hold top he silicon gasket in place. I carefully placed the gasket inside these tracks, I placed the lid on the jar, and I felt and heard the "swish". Mission accomplished! So be careful when you wash the lid. Note how it's assembled BEFORE taking it apart. I'm attaching a photo in case others have the same predicament. Yes, it's a nice jar. It's worth the investment.

My son had his 4th birthday party at the fire station. I wanted to do something special for the fire fighters. I thought a large snack jar would be perfect. I started searching on Amazon for a jar that was reasonably priced and still large enough to do the job. That is when I came across these! This jar was perfect. I was a lot thicker and heavier than I thought it would be. I used my vinyl cutter to make a large decal for it. Then I stuffed the jar with a ton of snacks! It was able to hold quite a bit of snacks. The fire fighters were thrilled with their gift! Thanks for offering such a large jar and such a good price.
