The cruise control and steering wheel mounted radio controls on my Chevy Silverado stopped working as well as warning light that came on when I got to speed. So I took the vehicle to a local mechanic who hooked it up to his fancy computer and proceeded to tell me that my ABS system needed to be rebuilt at the cost of several thousand dollars. However, he said as long as the brakes still worked it should be fine. Then I immediately took the truck to the dealer who told me much the same thing. So luckily I also purchased a BlueDriver vehicle monitor from Amazon and it told me this part was probably the problem. I ordered it and watched a YouTube video on the removal and installation which was a little tricky due to the location, but I managed it. So for the cost of the monitor ($100) and the cost of the part ($25) both with free shipping I repaired my truck. I cleared out the codes and took it back to the dealer to have them check it out again and they could find nothing wrong. It has been three months since the repair and no issues. I told them what I had done and the dealer said that would be their second fix after the several thousands on the ABS system overhaul. I will never buy for that dealer again, but if you are somewhat handing with a few tools it is an easy fix.

I know there are plenty of five star reviews, but I also come to reviews for information about what worked for other people. For that reason, I'm adding to the pile with my experience in case others need the info. 2009 Silverado, >100k miles, cruise control started working intermittently. I could quickly tap the brake pedal or pull up on it with my toe and it might work for the rest of the drive. Eventually it stopped working completely. It should be noted that the brake lights were functioning correctly this whole time. I read that this was likely the fix, quick and easy to do, and pretty cheap. It took 15 minutes and fixed the problem. Hopefully I can get 100k miles out of this one. There are some good YouTube videos on how to do it. It's pretty straightforward, but watching a video beforehand proved for no guessing or figuring when I went to do it.

I was extremely pleased with the brake switch and worked just as it should have in the first place. I own a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT and noticed when i tried turning the cruise control on it would not work. My brake lights worked but the cruise control did not work. I learned this by pushing the cruise control button on the left hand side of the steering wheel and then hitting the set button which is underneath the cruise control button. There should be a light on the gauge cluster when you hit "set" that looks like this: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/1/15/Cruise_Control.svg/2000px-Cruise_Control.svg.png . If that light comes up on the gauge cluster then your cruise control works if this light does not come on after hitting set then your cruise control is not working properly and it is likely that you have a faulty brake switch. For my application, when I hit set nothing would happen. I did some research and figured out this was likely the issue. For 13 dollars I realized it's worth a shot. Today I got the part which was in a small plastic ACDelco bag in a medium sized packaging envelope. Things you need are a ratcheting 10 mm wrench, a flash light, and a flathead screw driver. I followed this video and was able to get the job done https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pHwWV98wBZU&list=FLlh_SarivhBqFnENckkrktA&index=3. The hardest part about this entire install was the retaining clip. As long as you stick with it you can get that clip off. After about 20 minutes of work I was able to complete the job and take the truck for a test drive. Beware: You do have to go over 25mph to use the cruise control. The cruise control finally worked and I had a huge grin on my face the whole way home! I highly recommend trying this if your cruise control does not work.

I was getting a "Service Trailer Brake System" error. The first thing to troubleshoot is electrical connections, but that was not the issue. The next step is to replace the Trailer Brake Relay in the Truck (AC Delco 20904439). That did not fix the issue. It became obvious that 90% of the time that this alert triggered was when the brake pedal was being pressed either while at a stoplight or while in motion. This was the next step and it solved my issues. It is somewhat difficult to install mainly because it was very cramped and awkward to get to. Once you get to it, it is fairly easy to replace. All you need is a socket wrench and some needle nose pliers to remove the pin and replace the device. Take a picture before you start to take it apart but if you run into trouble, there are plenty of youtube videos out there that can help you out.

The message light on my 2009 Silverado kept coming on the past several weeks more and more frequently stating that my ABS brake system was not working properly and the Stabletrak system needed to be serviced. It seemed to be getting harder and harder to shift out of Park. I took the truck to a dealer and the light of course didn't come on so they said there was nothing they could do. Another local mechanic shop was stumped. After searching YouTube on the internet, a couple of the videos suggested this brake switch may be faulty. Only took two days to get the part from Amazon Prime. Our teenage grandson and his friend found where the part went right away and after about an hour (mostly removing and reattaching the retaining clip and getting hints off internet videos) got it plugged in and reattached. It has only been about 24 hours and about 10 miles of short trip driving BUT the message has stopped coming on so far!!!!! So far, a giant stress and frustration reliever.

Easy to install 1 bolt, 1 clip, 1 plug. Had an issue in my 2011 GMC Sierra where the Traction Control and ABS warning lights would sporadically turn on. Various forums said it was a fuse, or a speed sensors, or water in connection. Turns out the stock brake light switch was going bad. In short, the ABS and TC systems couldn't determine when I was applying my brakes on or not because of the switch. Changed it out with this one and solved the problem.

This was a direct replacement part that resolved my intermittent cruise control problem on a 2008 Sierra. It was pretty easy to get the part number and cross reference it from numerous GM dealers who discount parts online. Usually the dealers selling parts online have a deep discount for the factory part (or its replacement), but they can't beat that free Amazon Prime shipping! The price of this part was all over the board on Amazon. I found one vendor asking full retail of around $100, all the way down to around $10 for the same part, with 2 day Prime shipping. The $10 part was exactly the same as the $100 one-same part number, same applications, just $90 less. Know your part numbers and what actually fits your car and you can save a lot. It took about 30 mins to replace the defective switch, most of that was spent carefully removing the safety clip that prevents the mounting screw from backing out. Be sure to use a thread locker compound on the mounting bolt like they do at the factory when reassembling the switch mount. It is ABSOLUTELY something you do not want backing out down the road. YouTube has several videos showing how to replace the switch, but beware. Most of those guys are DANGEROUSLY amateurish and just hack away at it until it comes apart. Watch as many as you can to learn what not to do and don't forget the thread locker.

The cruise control stopped working on my 2008 GMC Sierra 3500 HD 4x4 diesel truck for no apparent reason. I searched the internet for possible causes after finding the cruise control fuse intact. I quickly found the possibility of a failed Brake Light Switch. Youtube has numerous videos of replacing units so I looked and found this product on Amazon for a DIY project. This Brake Light Switch came in a genuine ACDelco package (a sealed plastic bag with the following info printed on it: ACD#D1586H, GM#15861245). The removal of the old switch (located under the dash and up high on the brake pedal "stem") is simple in concept but pretty irksome in practice...my 10 mm bolt had been thread locked at the factory and the spring clip was tough to remove since there is very little room for sufficient leverage to easily pry it off with a screwdriver or grab with needle nose pliers. Once the bolt and clip are removed just undo the electrical connector and pull the switch off the assembly. Installation of the new switch is pretty much just reverse of removal of the failed unit. Of course you need good work area lighting and you need to contort yourself on the driver's side floor to get the right access under the dash and unimpeded view of the brake light switch assembly. It was all worth it once my cruise control came back on during the test drive.

Really cool product! After having another TomTom bite the dust I swore off getting another GPS and bought this to replace it!! My olnly complaint is the stupid way they designed the so-called "mount", which is a floppy rubber pad with a floppy piece of plastic that has a thin adhesive film on it!! So I removed the 2 Phillips screws and bought some really cool PLASTIC 'velcro'-like things at our hardware store and used them to put it on thd dash of my 2011 Chevy truck. These things are made by 3-M and are the same piecds as our tollway gives you to put an I-Pass thing on your windshield, and they stick 10x better than anything else! So, I Iove the phone holder, but the mount SUCKS!!!

My 2008 GMC Sierra 1500 2wd started having the traction control and stabilitrack warning come on. Also the abs would come on at the same time. After watching several You Tube videos on all the possible fixes, I found one that said his brake lights would flicker while he was pushing his brakes. At the time I had a trashed clothes dryer in the back of the truck. One night I was driving and noticed in the rear view mirror, that I could see when I pushed the brake pedal the 3rd brake light would shine on the dryer. As I pushed the pedal, the red light would flicker on the dryer. So I ordered this switch and had it installed in 5 minutes. Tested and it fixed all the warning lights. No more problems. Hope this helps someone else.
