3.8L: Tensioner Pulley - ok; Idler Pulley needs existing bolt plus 1-1/4" washer.
Vehicle is a Gen III Chrysler Town & Country w/3.8L engine. For whatever reason Amazon says this part doesn't fit my vehicle but that is incorrect. It fits the tensioner pulley perfectly. It also fits the idler pulley with the exception that you have to use the existing bolt (which is longer) and should use a 1-1/4" washer to properly support the shield. The shield fits good on the tensioner pulley but it stands off slightly on the idler pulley because there is a bearing support bushing/washer that must be retained on the outside of the idler pulley and underneath the shield. To make things easier I went and clamped the belt to the crank pulley right where it goes up to the water pump pulley. This really helped keep the belt on while working with the pulleys. The serpentine system on these engines have 3 smooth pulleys: the tensioner pulley, the idler pulley and the much larger water pump pulley. Once you have the shields on the tensioner and idler pulleys then you want to put your slack at the water pump pulley by sliding it off. Now you can get the belt over the two shielded tensioner and idler pulleys and you can then pull the tensioner down removing the belt tension and the belt will slide right on the water pump pulley no problem. When I finished I dowsed the running belt with water and the belt stayed on. That looks like success. I'll update this review if anything should change.

Works, with caveats.
Performs as advertised. Prevents the serpentine belt from slipping off whichever smooth pulley it is installed on. One thing to note is that it does NOT rotate with the pulley, but is fixed in place. Also, when installed on a 1996-2000 Caravan / Voyager minivan, the head of the included bolt is too high to allow the removal of the GearWrench serpentine belt installation tool that I used if you install this on the tensioner pulley. However, you can get the tool off of the bolt head by loosening the two 15 mm passenger side engine mount bolts and prying the powertrain assembly towards the drivers side with a crowbar to gain enough clearance to remove the tool from the bolt head. For those of you with belt throwing issues, one thing that you should do before you purchase this is remove and inspect your tensioner pulley assembly. Look for steel corrosion on the back side that may have rust jacked it out of alignment with the engine mounting boss. The rust may even be stuck to the aluminum face of the mounting boss on the engine. If so, it will need to be removed before replacing or re-installing the old tensioner assembly. Even a small amount of rust can tilt the tensioner assembly, causing it to be out of alignment with the rest of the engine accessory and idler pulleys. This was the case on my 1996 Voyager. I had to use a pneumatic needle scaler to clean the rust from the mounting boss on the engine before installing a new tensioner assembly. A hammer and a flat screwdriver would also work, but be a lot slower. The new Goodyear Gatorback belt I installed tracks much better than any previous belts ever did, without moving back and forth on the pulley's. Installed this anyway for extra insurance on the tensioner smooth pulley.

Great product as mod for slipping belt on Ford Taurus
I decided to buy this product due to the constant slipping of the serpentine belt on my 2002 Fors Taurus. It is known for this problem and after replacing many parts. Nothing fixed the slipping when hitting puddles when it rains. This is a great way to resolve that issue once and for all. This product doesn't show it to work for Dodge vehicles and I wanted to acknowledge that it in fact worked on my 02 Ford Taurus.

Fixed it!
I was continually having my belt slip off every time I would hit a small water puddle or driving in the rain. I came across this on amazon and for as cheap as it was, why not try it. This fixed the problem. I've read past reviews and some of them were putting this item on the wrong pulley. It should always go onto the tensioner.(first choice). Having two of these would even increase the odds of the belt coming off even more and I plan on buying one more for the idler pulley. Putting it on was a breeze. Once you have it on, route the belt through and always put the serpentine belt on the alternator last while pushing down on the tensioner. (on a 97 plymouth voyager 3.0 engine). I hope this helps for all who are looking for this instead of buying the more expensive kit.

Droman Pulley Shield
I installed the Dorman tensioner pulley shield on my 2000 Chrysler T&C. I was intrigued by the negative review, so I decided to try the water test myself. I poured a two-cup measure of water in the drive pulley/idler pulley area and nothing happened. So I poured another two cups directly on the tensioner pulley and the belt still didn't jump off. Got lots of squeaks and weird noises though. Previously, the belt had jumped off two times from road surface water splashes. After I re-secured the plastic splash guard under the belt side of the engine. I hadn't had a problem. This was just a trial to compare the Dorman shield with the Gates grooved pulley/double sided belt system that I also bought. I recently drove through some heavy rain with water collecting on the road. I was careful to avoid the deepest water. No problem with the belt. I already have a second pulley shield for my second mini-van, and I'll put the Gates system on my third T&C. Yes, I have three Gen III Town and Country mini-vans!

It works well!
I own a 99 Chrysler T&C 3.3 engine, when I install two shields on tensioner and idler pulleys replace the serpentine belt back on, I drive it when it raining hard and ran into puddles of water and it didn't slip off and the belt holds in place while it raining and it works well. And it pass the test. Good shields.

Try this before spending hundreds...
The serpentine belt in my Caravan kept slipping off in wet weather. Had to be towed to the shop twice, but the shop manager was not able to fix the problem. After spending hundreds on unsuccessful "fixes", I went online and learned about this pulley shield. It was easy to install and my serpentine belt has not slipped since.

Works like a charm!!!!
At first, I thought the problem was the belt and/or Tensioner Pulley so I replaced them both without avail. And so, I bought two of these shields, one for the tensioner pulley and another one for the idler, OH MY GOD! these things work like you wouldn't believe it! On August 13, '13 I drove from Chicago to Mackinaw Island, and half way there, this huge thunderstorm hit us hard for about an hour, and the belt NEVER came off again. Love it, and recommend it!! you won't be disappointed..

Make the pulley will work with the shield
this item is very good quality, no issues with it, works super just make sure the pulley wheel you put it will fit
