I bought this because it went on sale and I needed a level. I didn't know I was getting features! This thing is great! It has this cool feature on the back with two little feet. One of them is slippery and one is rubber. The slippery feet are like buttons and after you know where you want your level aligned, you press down on the slippery feet and the rubber feet "grab" the wall so your level doesn't move! You don't press down hard, just a bit of pressure and the level won't slip around while you use your pencil. The second feature are those little round sliding buttons. My level is a little different from the picture. On my level, the bubbles are in the middle of the level like the fourth view of this level under the product. There are two sliding buttons on either side with a little x in them. Go to your painting, turn it over and if you have two hanging hooks on the paintings, line up both slides over either hook. Now you don't have to use a tape measure to find out how far apart those hooks are and then try to balance the level and the tape measure and pencil while you are up on the ladder. Without a doubt, you will drop the pencil and have to climb down the ladder and start all over. After you have climbed back up, you swear you won't drop the pencil this time but instead you drop the tape measure leaving a little gauge that will one day have to get fixed. You climb down the ladder again hoping no one is around to hear your comments. You climb back up wondering if you can balance a tape measure on your head. Finally, you have marked the spots, but they aren't level, so you have to move the level again and now you have obscured your marks and you aren't sure if the first mark was right or the second mark, so you take the tape measure off your head and oh no! You just dropped the pencil again. This level avoids all that heartache! You adjust the sliding buttons where you need your marks, press down on the level so it won't move and because of the little x in the sliding buttons, you use the pencil to mark the spot without moving the level. I read a review that someone got two of these that weren't level. Perhaps that is the reason for the design change? I tried the test that reviewer mentioned (put the level on a nearly level surface, then flip it around 180 degrees like a turntable rotation and if the bubble is in the same spot the level is level). Good news, mine is perfectly level. Thanks to that reviewer for teaching me how to check. Even though I got mine on sale, I am thinking I will buy another as a gift. Hard to get excited about a level...but this thing is cool!

Hung my first picture with this and it worked flawlessly! This is for LARGER Pictures and frames, if they make it in a smaller 1 to 2 foot version I'd get that in a heartbeat for 8x10's and smaller frames. The pads are awesome and allow me to feel confident that I won't scratch the wall when measuring or checking level. The measuring from the center is a feature I use a bit. At the very middle of the level is a notch marking the center line which both sides of the level start their measurements from. Kind of like this the || is the center: 12 - 10 - 8 - 5 || 5 - 8 - 10 - 12 Pair this with a magnetic Stud Finder and your walls will be covered with decorations, shelves, and so on....

The sliding Accumark targets make hanging anything on the wall super simple. Solidly built.

I purchased this for my husband last Christmas as he had hinted that he was in need of a new level as his was "beginning to show grey". LOL! I took the hint and bought this one after reading the reviews and also due to the trusted Black & Decker name. Hubby LOVES it!! He doesn't complain anymore when I ask him to hang a picture or shelf. He has commented on how well it is calibrated. He loves the Accu-Mark feature. Makes hanging things a breeze with the easy sliding targets and marking the wall guides are wonderful too. His favorite feature is the Gecko Grips on each end. I usually help and offer another set of hands during house projects, but with this level and its grips, he can be a one man show - easily marking and hanging with needing to apply only the slightest amount of pressure to engage the grips. Best of all, the grips help the level to not mark up my paint! I love this level as well because I can use it too. I have had surgery on both shoulders and am limited on how much I can lift and at what distance away from my body. This level is so light weight (in comparison to others on the market) that I have used it by myself.

I love this level!!! It's super convenient to be able to put the level up and mark two different spots to hand photos at the same time, guaranteeing that they're level with each other. I only wish that the markers could pop out or there was less space between the two sections so that you could also mark things less than ~9" apart. That sounds like a pretty big gap but I've already found multiple instances of where I wanted a smaller spread. I have gotten around this by creating a third mark further out and then being able to use that as a reference for both actual holes.

I used to hate hanging pictures. No, actually hate isn't the right word. I don't think there is a word in the English language that properly describes my loathing for that job. I used to have closets and attics full of pictures and posters simply because I didn't want to spend my day trying to get them hung properly. No matter how many times I would measure and re-measure, level and re-level, they were just never straight! This black and decker level has completely changed that. The sliding attachments are just so easy to use, and take all the inaccuracy out of the process. No only that, but this level is super-easy to use with 1 hand despite how long it is. It grips the wall and doesn't slip, letting me make my drill marks and be sure they're right the first time. I'm not going to pretend that I now LIKE hanging things up, but at least now that job is like any other, a chore but not a dreaded one. All you need is the right tool for the job. I highly recommend this level.

This is a great level! It works wonderfully for single handed use due to the textured metal upper/lower area and the rubber pads on the back, which help to secure it to the wall while marking measurements with your other hand. It is constructed very nicely and is extremely durable, while remaining lightweight :) I don't see that it will need replacing anytime soon, even after a ton of use! It is a very large level, so make sure this is the size you will be needing...otherwise you probably won't find it to be very useful. The only downside to the level is that the sliding pieces along the middle have a fairly large gap between them when pushed all the way to the center, making it unable to measure anything that needs small spacing between it. Other than that, I absolutely love it and have used it for everything from hanging picture frames along the wall to mounting my TV. I would definitely recommend this product.

Been hanging pictures for years without a good deal to help with calculations and lining things up. This solves so many of those issues. If you are willing to have a little patience to calculate where you want things, this will help you ensure the execution is done correctly. It'll save some holes in the wall, or the cost of paying someone to do it. Great product.

I have this level and think it is a great tool. I have textured walls in my home. My wife is constantly moving around pictures as she adds more and more from our kids. I have always found it very difficult to use laser levels as they don't tell me where to put the hole only if the picture is level. There are 2 features that make this level unique: 1. The gecko grips, while holding the level with my left hand I am able to drill the hole exactly where it needs to be for the picture hook because of the grips. The grips also do not leave marks on my wall like other levels. 2. The adjustable holes for picture hanging. Trying to figure out where the holes go has always been a problem. I used to use a piece of paper but that didn't help me with how level the holes were. The adjustable holes allow me to lay the level on the back of the picture and adjust the holes on the level to the exact place on the wall I need to drill. I than transfer that right up to the wall and make sure they are level and away I go. I am so happy with the product I have purchased more from Amazon and shipped to my parents and sister. A great little innovative tool and perfect for hanging pictures.

My wife and I initially saw this on a TV commercial. Both of our jaws dropped. Hers because she had just spent a few weeks painting and now has to hang a few dozen pictures and shelves back up; mine because now I would not have to go back after her and fill in "mistakes" with spackle. At 3 feet, it can tackle most sized pictures and floating shelves. The beauty of this level are the sliding cross-hairs to either side of the middle. You hold the level over the item to be hung on the wall and slide the cross-hairs over the spaces where you would need nails/screws in the wall. The cross-hairs stay in place so that you can place the level on the wall and mark exactly where you need to drill/nail. The Gecko Grips are little spring-loaded, non-slip pads that help hold the level to the wall while you mark the wall through the picture guides. This was a great gift for her since he hated make me do extra work. I even like it more than getting out a tape measure, making distance marks on the wall and then leveling those marks. THIS made the process easier than easy. If you plan on doing some redecorating, add this to the list. The payoff in time alone will make up for it.
