It goes with the car seat, which is a great car seat; easy to install, easy to use. We bought an extra base so it would be easy to put the car seat in either my or my husband's car, and it's been super handy. We even had to switch it over to my mother-in-law's car when my husband's got a flat tire and we had to borrow hers, and that took less than five minutes.

This is a great item when you have 2 different cars that you take the baby in because it lets you just transfer the actual seat without having to take the base, belted-in part out of the car. It's great for my husband and I for our grandbaby since sometimes he'll pick her up and sometimes I will. Wish I would have gotten additional bases for my son and daughter-in-law too cause then we would have all had the same base and could have shared one (or maybe two) car seats instead of multiple car seats.

Works as designed, easy to use, easy to install, and narrow (3across in honda civic)

Works as designed, we have one installed in a 2002 Ford Explorer, and one installed in a 2012 Honda civic. This with a booster seat and a convertible seat, fit 3 across in my Honda Civic. Given this is narrow, it works great for my purposes.

Do I really need an extra base?

YES! If you have one baby, one base should be enough... unless you have two or more cars! The ease and convenience of being able to pick up and go without having to switch the base between cars is wonderful. For my husband and I it was worth the price to pay for that convenience. Highly recommended, and with no issues to speak of. Love this product for what it is. NOTE: The car seat itself is great, but I would recommend going to a baby store like Babies R Us first and holding the car seats like the Chicco KeyFit30 in your hand first. And not just empty - put your purse or something at least 10 pounds in it too. Get a feel for how the weight is distributed. The handle on this one doesn't help distribute the weight all that well and I often think I could have done better for my back with a different car seat. Obviously car safety is first, and that's why we picked this one, but there are other things to consider after you find the top rated items.

All your base are belong to us.

I've used worse car seat bases, but I haven't found a better one. Chicco has got it in the bag, baby. The levels are great for putting it in different cars. The quick-latch things work fine, as do the seat belt attachment points. Used it both ways. The orange helps you see the buttons and things that you need to press in dim lighting. Handy.

Easy to Install

Bought this car seat and an extra base for the travel system we purchased. Chicco makes a great product and the install of their seats are easier than other other I have installed. The cinch feature they have in great at really getting the base snug into the vehicle. Have always been impressed with their products and customer service.

Chicco KeyFit System Base

This carseat base is the easiest I've encountered in a long time. It made having it in the car a no brainer. If it was clicked in but the carseat not in the car, you could keep it there and not worry about having to take the whole thing out when not in use. If you want to use the seat you could easily remove it and store it somewhere else in the car because of how slim it is. I suggest the Chicco KeyFit system to all new parents that don't want to castle with two carseats or a system that straps in independently.

Must Have Seat Base

I purchased two of these bases for our little ones Chicco Key Fit system. When we received the Stroller and car seat as a baby gift, we only received one car seat base. Thank goodness they sell additional ones! We purchased two: one for my husbands vehicle, and one for the grandparents. The system is easy to install. In fact, if you have a reclining seat you are placing it in, recline the seat as far back as possible to allow the child safety locks to easily click! No more fighting with where the safety bars in the seats are located! The balance portion is also very helpful. After being locked and tightened, always check this easy to see balance portion to make sure your seat base is installed correctly. If you ever worry that your seat may not be installed correctly, you can always stop by a local fire department. They are always happy to help and teach you the correct and safest way.
