Excellent knife, excellent value

I love this knife. For years, my most unfavorite part of making a sandwich or burger was slicing the tomatoes. I tended to cut the tomato unevenly, to make the slices way thicker than I wanted them, etc. This knife has completely changed the way I make a sandwich. It's so painless. Even the most unbelievable klutz (me) can slice a tomato well with this thing. As a bonus, it's made in the good ole' USA and it's amazingly cheap. At this price, even if the knife dulled out in a year or two, I would simply buy another one--it's a great bargain. The last knife I tried to slice a tomato with was a much pricier one from Chicago Cutlery, and it didn't do half as good a job as this thing. Updated 1/16/2012: It's been two years since I purchased this knife, and it's still the only way I can slice a tomato without frustration. Surprisingly enough for a knife at this price point, it has maintained its sharp edge.

Great re-buy!

Over the years my Rada tomato knives have gradually walked home with other people. The three that I had are long gone and the local store that sold them closed. What to do, what to do....finally it dawned on me to try Amazon, and there they were. Like other people have warned, don't leave these in the water, the handle will change color. That means wash them by hand as well. Aside from that these are a plus plus in my book, and the whole Rada line is worth checking out.

I love this knife.

While this knife is advertised as a tomato knife, I use it for all sorts of things. It is my husband's favorite knife for the dinner table. I use it to slice open buns, muffins, English muffins, anything that benefits from the sharp point and the serrated edge. I have purchased several as gifts.

Use Them Everyday and No Regret - Great Bargain!

I have both the metal handled tomato knife and this plastic handled knife. The metal one, once you put it accidentally in the dishwasher suffers real material dysfunction. The handle becomes gritty, dull and not pleasant to touch or use. I still do, as they are really, really, really great for slicing a tomato. When I saw the plastic handled versions, I ordered 2 right away. They are equally awesome for slicing a tomato as the metal handled ones. Super happy with the blade on both knives, but the plastic handled knives come out of the dishwasher just as they went in, except clean. The price on these is a bargain, but the usefulness and cutabilty is top notch. I have loved the performance of all the Rada knives I own except for the dishwasher issue.

Mother-in-law knows best

I bought this because my mother-in-law gave one as a gift at a party and told everyone they "need to buy a Rada Tomato Knife because it slices through tomatoes like butter." She was right. This knife does a great job. I also like the dishwasher safe resin handle, which feels much higher quality than regular plastic. The only thing that would have made the knife better is if it came with a permanent blade cover rather than a paper one. Still, no complaints!

A great knife, especially for the price. . .

First of all, I have used Rada knives for several years. I bought my first ones at a craft fair booth, and didn't know where to go to replace them. So pleased to find them on Amazon. Since then, I have purchased several for myself and as gifts for others. The tomato slicing knife is one of the best. It slices tomatoes perfectly, and is useful for other tasks as well. Just be careful the first time you use it not to slice your finger as well as the tomato-- it is very sharp.

SHARP AND LOVE THE LOOK!!!

It does what it is designed to do really well. Someone complained about not holding up to the dishwasher but I would not put a knife in the dishwasher so that is not a problem. I will look into their other knives because I am really impressed with the sharpness and the cool look of the knife. I have no idea about durability except that other customers rave about it, I have only had it for a couple of weeks. Unbelievably cheap for an excellent well made knife. Love it!

Sharpen your Love Life

I was at a town fair, I suppose 15 years ago. One of the vendors was selling these knives and I bought this one. My wife gave me the look. The look. Like, really, it was 5 bucks. 5 dollars. Got it home and it sat. She wasn't gonna use that stupid knife. I like tomatoes, she hates them. I used it on my tomatoes, it worked super fantastic, I was ecstatic, but mum... Then one day it was time to prepare some jalapenos for Taco Tuesday, and this knife found my wife's hand. She's used it almost everyday since then, seriously, 15 years of use. It has never been sharpened, and it still works fantastisecstaticly on tomatoes, jalapenos, fresh baked buns, brick cheese, midnight pickles. Made in the USA, made to last, and your spouse might love you more. Update - so I noticed this has a verified purchase on it. Yes, I did buy one recently from Amazon. Last year we bought a second home, and, seriously, one of the first things we purchased for the new home was one of these knives from Amazon. They are that good.

A surprisingly wonderful knife!

I love this knife! I stumbled upon a description when I was shopping for a sushi knife. It was so cheap, I decided to take a chance. Wow. It is such a great little knife. Yes, it works perfectly on soft tomatoes. But, to be honest, I use it for many other fruits and vegetables. It is amazingly sharp, the serrated edge is very effective, and it has a great feel in my hand.

Super great knife

I have never had a tomato slicer before, but have always heard good things about this knife and after purchasing it, I don't know how I ever got along without one in the kitchen. It is super sharp and will slice through the most over ripe tomato. I have also used it on cucumbers, celery and radishes and it cut perfectly. When you purchase this knife, you will not be disappointed; everyone should have one of these great knives.
