Amazing for the price as a mic setup for a Raspberry Pi with the bonus of a camera, there are better dedicated webcams though.
I bought this camera for the fantastic omni-directional four microphone linear array which works well for voice-activation on my Raspberry Pi. It works from anywhere in my room and provides quality audio. The camera is also decent and passable, but in 2018 if you're shopping for a webcam, the 480p resolution probably won't cut it.

As a web cam there are better units available
As a web cam there are better units available. I am using this for computer vision research. I bought four or five of them. Their advantage is they have a high frame rate and i actually wanted the lower "standard" resolution. The microphones are actually pretty good. The prices right. These are dirt cheap. One problems the cord into stiff, Ive had to replace them with cords salvaged from dead mice The work well with openCV and Ubuntu Linux.

PlayStation Eye - Surpassed Expectations
This camera has surpassed my expectations in terms of quality and setup difficulty. Though the shipping was slightly delayed, the camera surprised me by coming in a day early and really making my night. After about 10 minutes of downloading firmware for the small sum of $2.99, it put this camera in the $12-13 range, much cheaper than any competing web-cam could offer. I was able to get this set-up with OBS (streaming software) in another 5 minutes and can really only say the one thing I am missing now is a good lighting setup. I dn't plan to use the built-in Mic, but the fact that it offers this is beyond what you would expect, you can essentially setup a video VOIP for $12 in 10 minutes. I plan to use this for Youtube and Streaming on Twitch and the quality is definitely up to par. Very pleased with this purchase.

Excellent PC webcam on the cheap
Excellent PC webcam on the cheap. Had to get the driver from some shady paypal thing but it turned out to be completely legit. codelaboratories (DOT) com/products/eye/driver/ You don't need anything but the driver from that site. There is another file on there that makes you believe you will need it if you have more than one camera but that's not the case. All you need is the windows driver.

PlayStation 3 Eye
There were three reasons for purchasing the PlayStation 3 Eye: Reason 1: for everyone in the room to communicate while playing online games with my daughter and grandson in another city. It's fun being able to talk with them or make comments during the game play. The sound can be muted through the PS3. Reason 2: When they come to visit all they have to bring is the games and motion sticks and not have to disconnect and transport their PS3 Eye. Reason 3: It is fun to use with Skype! The product is small and easy to mount to the top of the TV using a small Velcro strip (not included). It has wide angle or regular view. The cost was reasonable for what you get. Picture quality not great, but acceptable.

Beautiful product, in even better shape than my first ...
I received my Eye in a box that has a wraparound image of a man with laptop sitting at a small desk in the middle of a hay field. The title at top in bold reads: "WCX550WEBCAM for Windows." Confused me looked for the UPC sticker which on back said: "PlayStation Eye," so I opened it... Upon closer inspection, I received a beautiful product that is in even better shape now than my first Eye was when I purchased it new. The USB dongle even had a plastic protector sleeve over it, a rare detail in packaging. Just today, I tested to see if it works, YES: Good picture from a super clean, brand new camera. Highly recommended.

PlayStation Eye
I bought this camera for use not with the PlayStation, but rather a PC. This camera works perfect on the PC when combined with the CLeye drivers that are available for free. The reason I purchased this was to use it for IR point tracking purposes. This unit, with a little resourcefulness rivals that of mainstream commercial units for $150+. Be sure to buy the mount for this, as it weighs next to nothing and moves easily. If you're trying to decide on if this is the right model for IR tracking, I did not remove my IR filter and it worked well right out of the box unmodified. All you need to do is find the proper exposure and gain. If you are on the same mission I was feel free to reply to this and I'll provide you links.

Framerates make it a solid buy! Head tracking Magic!!!
I bought this specifically for use on my pc with FaceTrackNoIR. At under $5 plus shipping, this works great once I installed the free driver. Rather than upgrade my 6yr old $30 Logitech Webcam to a pricier model, I tripled my framerates for pocket change with the PS Eye. Head tracking works solidly now with noticeable reduction of hangups/freezing of in-game tracking.

PS3 Eye is perfect for a $10 PC WebCam
I got this PS3 Eye specifically to take it apart and modify it to become an IR only camera to use it with FreeTrack & FaceTrackNoIR (free software that helps you emulate TrackIR). For this purpose, once the camera is modified, it works ...flawlessly. You will NOT regret the purchase, 5 stars just for that. However, what I was shocked to find, though was how well this also worked as a normal PC Webcam. Pros: 1. Picture was smooth, probably because the framerate can go up to 120 FPS. 2. Software drivers for various verisons of Windows, including Windows 7. 3. The camera can lower resolution and do a wider angle, which is very nice. 4. Microphone was very nice. 5. Once set up, worked with Skype, OSB for Twitch streaming, about everything I tried. Cons: 1. Camera only supports up to 640x480 (however, not much of one as that's a sensible resolution that won't eat your bandwith) 2. PC Drivers are not by Sony, or officially supported, you have to find them. There was an annoying bug that evverytime I reboot my pc, I have to unplug and replug the camera to get the microphone to work in Windows 7. 3. PC Drivers are 32-bit only, and that meant, for example, I coudl only run the 32 bit version of OSB to stream for Twitch. The Camera isn't an amazing piece of hardware, it's just a decent piece of hardware at an amazing price, that can work for a PS3, a PC, be reasonably modified into an IR camera, etc. For that, it really deserves 5 stars.

Excellent addition to the Raspberry Pi
I just set this up on a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B, running the latest Raspian release ("Stretch"). Using the ALSA sound drivers, the microphone array is recognized immediately, and works very well. The Camera too, is correctly identified and works well enough, given the throughput limitations of USB 2.0, and the general performance limitations of the Pi. Running "motion", the camera grabs reasonable still frames, and though video streams are a little choppy (again, due more to the Pi, than the camera), for less than 10 bucks, there are no complaints. A very nice little unit, and perfect for my Pi.
