I bought this one after returning two of a different metal bench due to defects and shipping damage. This is just a great bench, and here is what you should know. 1. If you want it to last a long time, buy a quart of exterior polyurethane or your favorite sealer. And plan on sealing everything BEFORE you put it together. that way all the cracks and joints are sealed as well. A quart will give you three decent coats. 2. Putting it together was much easier than I thought. If you have a power screwdriver, it can go together by one person in 20-30 minutes. Besides a screwdriver, a square to set the legs at 90 degrees when crossbracing came in handy. I did not see why a folding potting bench was needed, but even before I used it I started to understand. This will go onto my lanai for parties as a serving or buffet table, and it will also be nice to be able to move it around the yard to take the bench to the project rather than vice-versa. It is lightweight and easily carried, and a couple of heavy pots or bags of stuff on the bottom shelf should stablize it in the heaviest winds. And I can fold it up and lay it down for hurricanes. :-)

I am a container gardener. This year I decided to treat myself to/invest in a potting bench. Because of the limited space that I had available, I had very specific criteria that my potting bench would have to meet. I needed a potting bench that would meet all of the following criteria: 1.) Go with the over-all design of my container garden including form, function and color. 2.) Fit onto my apartment patio w/o intruding on the limited space that I had for my vegetable pots. 3.) A bench that consistently had an average of 4 1/2-5 star reviews from various independent reviewers over several different/reliable websites. 4.) Verticle storage that was also attractive. 5.) Priced under $200.00 6.) Durability 7.) Portability (easily moveable for storage in my garage over winter) I took my time and researched several websites and eventually narrowed down my options to two different potting benches. When it came down to it, this one was the one. I have owned it since May 2010. Many reviewers recommended that the bench be varnished to extend its life. I used a clear satin finish varnish to seal the bench. A clear satin varnish enhances the wood without adding an artificial shine while preserving the wood's integrity for years to come. While this particular bench is available to buy on a number of other websites, I chose to purchase this from amazon.com based on the fact that amazon offers the lowest price including shipping and the seller's reviews were favorable. ***UPDATE 10/03/2017*** It has now been 7 years since I bought this potting bench. I have left it out on my porch for 7 winters and it has help up very well! I stii highly recommend this potting bench.***

Love it! It was easy set up, spacious, beautiful & did not have to pay $300.

The bench parts arrived well packed with all parts listed in the directions. I was particularly impressed with the construction of the prefabricated shelves. They were put together with screws and not staples. The instructions were easy to follow, all bolt holes and screw holes were predrilled. I assembled the bench by myself using only a small power driver. After completion, I placed the bench in my backyard, gave it a coat of spar varnish and it looks like a nice piece of furniture. It will make potting my plants easier.

I am an avid outdoors woman. I spend several hours each morning outside, from spring to fall. This bench is just what I was looking for to organize my materials. It is very lightweight (my husband used the word cheap) but I prefer lightweight because I can move it around myself. Nice color and I like that I can collapse it for winter storage (although that requires somewhat taking it apart). It won't hold a lot of heavy stuff for long periods without bending but it is a great WORK bench that looks really nice and complements my backyard. My toddler helped me put it together and it only took "us" about an hour (because the power screwdriver was dead) LOVE IT!

This potting bench greatly exceeded my expectations. It took a little over an hour to assemble but would have taken less time if I had paid more attention to the locations of the pre-drilled holes. It is sitting on concrete and is very sturdy with no bending or swaying. It includes 4 "S" hooks for hanging light things on the lattice back. The only thing I would recommend is giving it a coat of exterior spar urethane, especially if it will be out in the weather. I have not tried to fold up the bench and probably will not.

This potting bench is a gem. I researched carefully before ordering and I certainly found this the best value online. This is well constructed with lots of nice details: the screws, nuts and bolts are brass; screws are countersunk. The makers have given thought to making this a really nice piece of furniture. The assembly instructions were not as clear as I might have wished but I managed to get it up and ready in an hour's work using only an electric drill for driving screws and bolts. If you are used to assembling furniture from Ikea or Danish manufacturers you will find this no problem. It is a great looking potting bench. If you would wish to use it in the elements you would want to put a coat of protective sealant, but it is made out of real wood and is nicely stained. This is a really fine value. Well designed, good price. Check around online: you can spend a lot more money and get some clunky looking furniture.

This bench is lightweight, and very big. It came pre-stained a little, though you'd want to stain it or paint before use. The comments about the directions being unclear were helpful to me--the diagrams I had were correct, though the pictures were small. If you don't want to squint, consider scanning them and enlarging the picture. There were pre-drilled pilot holes for the screws, which was a clue as to what should go where. (I've seen worse directions, and the small parts were clearly labeled.) When we got it assembled, it folded up nicely, and had several warnings about not putting too much weight on it. It's made out of a lightweight, soft, wood, so you're trading portability for durability. It's an extremely good value, and works as advertised nicely.

i love this potting bench. i was searching and debating whether to build my own or purchase one. My main criteria was i wasnt going to spend 200 dollars on a potting bench that was gonna dry rot in the arizona sun. This bench comes pre stained so 10 bucks for 2 cans of thompson water sealer spray cans and i was up and potting winter annuals. My buddy had a lot of agave transplanting to do, so folded up bench, threw in back of truck and off i went. folding makes for quick work of cleaning whole patio off. I like the combo of nice n sturdy with a little nice detail of lattice back and hanging rod. If i had to build my own that detail would have been time prohibitive, but strengthwise i,ve had 2x2 ceramic pots w/rocks in bottom and the bench handled it just fine. Great balance of looks, strength, versitility, and PRICE!

This was quick and easy to assemble, and looks good. We did add a coat of urethane for extra water seal, but it's been in the rain and looks great! Don't know about the person who said it was so lightweight, it blew over - must have been one HECK of a wind gust! This is relatively lightweight, but it doesn't even shake in a 25-30 mph wind in our yard. It is simply the greatest Mother's Day gift ever! (well, okay, one of the greatest :D)
