Nice maneuverable size when the carry on doesnt hold enough
Every once in awhile I need to carry on much more than my Pelican 1500 series can hold. This is a nice maneuverable checked luggage size, that doesnt give away too much weight towards the typical 50 lb limit. I have used these on the back of expedition motorcycles, filled them up with hundreds of spare lbs of military truck parts, in wet marine environments and never had any failure whatsoever. And yes, you can through it in the water and use it as an uncomfortable life preserver...Ive tried it. It is designed to protect the contents, without much concern given about the exterior surface. So it will show scratches when dragged across sharp objects. But there is a reason the military uses these.

This is a tank of a suitcase.
I bought this case to use as a checked bag for a recent family trip to Hawaii. I am a frequent flyer and have mostly Tumi luggage but am reluctant to trust an airline with a $700 suitcase. I have read many reviews on this case and thought I would give it a try as it seemed like a steal at $175. I especially liked the fact that it is waterproof as I have had my luggage and contents returned to me soaking wet by an airline. We traveled out in the rain from Atlanta and it was raining in Maui when we landed. My new Pelican case came off of the luggage carousel wet on the outside but inside my clothing was nice and dry. As we were departing to return home and were watching the baggage handlers load bags on our plane, I watched a bag fly off the cart as the driver whipped around a corner. The inexpensive hard sided roll-away bag flipped and bounced several times and came out much worse for wear. As I watched this I was thankful that my family's belongings were safely tucked inside this tank of a suitcase. The case has a few scratches and some scuffs but after 5 flights and 5,000 miles it is still in perfect working condition. It also weighs right at the 50 lb limit for many airlines when it is stuffed with clothing. My wife and I love this case and the only complaint I have is that I should have bought two.

Great protection for our telescope.
Perfect fit for our Celstron Nextar 6se. We're able to add in our Star Sense auto align camera, and a few other small parts. A little heavier than what we'd like, but we have no doubt it will protect our investment. Pick and Pull foam was easier to fit than we thought it would be.

The Only Way To Haul Expensive Gear!
I'm fairly new to Pelican cases, having seen them being used in film school, protecting some pretty high-end equipment. I figured if they can take the kind of beating they receive from students, they can handle just about anything. I needed a particularly deep case for my video equipment, so the 1600 would not work. I was a little skeptical about the wheels, but they have proven to be very valuable in gettting my stuff from place to place, and very rugged. The pinchy foam stuff is brilliant: It's easy to design an effective layout for all your gear, the foam keeps everything in place, and it's even fun to work with! This is a case for people who need to haul around expensive and delicate gear.

A case for the Photographer.
My wife and I love this case. We got the lid insert for it also. Want to leave a review for sometime because when we were looking for a hard case we looked everywhere to try and find exactly how much gear would fit in this case since no place within 100 miles carried this size. When we got it, realized was smaller then what we thought it would have been. So pictured is all the gear that we were able to get in it, and i will say it was a tight fit. But able to squeeze in: 4 DSLR bodies: 2-6Ds 1-5D3 1-7D 7 lens: Sigma 50 1.4, Canon 50 1.8, Canon 85 1.8, Sigma 105, Canon 24-70, Canon 24-105, Canon 70-200 Lid insert hand full of pc sync cords, Extra batteries Lens cleaning kit, walkie talkie ear pieces gels and camp lights.

Perfect fit Sony NEX FS700R w/accessories.
Purchased for a Sony NEX FS700R. I fit all my camera gear in here perfectly complete with lenses and extras. I didn't want a carry-on but instead wanted a case large enough for my gear (and weapons) to lock up and travel with. This case is about the perfect size. I looked at alternatives but decided the savings on a cheaper case were not worth the possible compromise on quality. Afterall, I didn't skimp on my gear, why would I put it in something less? This is the case if you don't want to worry about what you can fit in a carry-on.

Excellent product
Great size. It's a pelican, they're always great quality. Make sure to measure depth for your items. Often times the dimensions listed are for the size of the entire pelican and they don't provide you with the interior dimensions which are equally important for this kind of product. I use mine to store 6 prime photography lenses and could probably fit about 9 or ten total. That includes a long lens I have.

No doubt this will be super tough and durable
I have been eyeing on this case for a while and finally got it when it's on sale during Thanksgiving. It's a Pelican case! No doubt this will be super tough and durable. It has enough room to hold my Phantom 4 (include controller and 2 batteries) + Canon 80D + Gopro 5 (with a selfie stick). Love it so far. The only drawback of the case is its weight. It's quite heavy, the weight of empty box with foam is ~22 pound (10kg). If weight will be an issue. You should be consider the Pelican Air line. However, there is not yet a similar size to 1610 yet as of Dec 2016

Supurb case
I have been using 1610 cases for decades. Small enough (relatively) and light enough (relatively) to handle without too much hassle, but the wheels and extensible handle come in very handy when I have to move the case and contents very far. I needed a case with dividers because I had outgrown my 1500 case--too many cables inside. The dividers will help me better organize my cables. I also have others with foam for carrying numerous high-end digital cameras, lenses, and related accessories. Excellent protection.

Great suitcasee.
The best suitcase I have ever bought. Airline baggage handling does their best to damage it, but it takes the worst abuse they can give. If you use it for this, buy locks for it as I have had it rummaged through more frequently as I think folks think expensive electronics may be in it instead of underwear. TSA leaves a note usually, and I notices and increase of stuff moved around when I started traveling with this versus a normal suitcase.
