We’ve given Blue Buffalo to our 5 year old yellow lab since we got him at 8 weeks old. He rarely has diarrhea, people always comment on how soft his fur is and he thankfully hasn’t had any medical issues. I was laid off last year and decided to save money by buying Purina- he ate way more (less nutrients??) and his stool wasn’t quite normal, that lasted two bags and we went immediately back to Blue- we’ll pay the extra $$ from now on.

The BEST FOOD FOR LARGE BREEDS!!!

I have two English mastiffs and this is the only food we will ever use. They have only eaten blue buffalo fish and oatmeal since they first came home as puppies. They have the softest coats and they are growing nice and strong but not growing too fast (the vet said their growth and weights are perfect) . Nice muscle definition, and no issues with digestion. I would rather spend my money on a good food than spend it on health problems in their senior years. I strongly believe this is one of the best foods for large breed dogs.

Great quality solid ingredients we love it!

We have a 100 lbs 1 and a half year old European doberman called Oso. Had to go through 3-4 different foods (most give him skin allergies or he wouldn’t not enjoy it) once we tried Blue Buffalo he just loves it with no adverse effects. We like to rotate with the protein while remaining Blue Buffalo, his favorite is the Lamb and chicken. I recommend supplementing with additional protein or fat (some pure chicken pieces, meat, a sprinkle of Parmesan (we shouldn’t but he loves it so much) and sometimes I’ll cook and egg and through it in their as well. We used to give Origen food (very expensive) but with Blue Buffalo with the occasional supplement of protein or fat we found the perfect diet for a very active dog. Always fresh in the bag and the bag is quite durable! Highly recommended

Love our shelter dog & she deserves the BEST!

We love our shelter dog! From life as an abandoned stray with bad teeth to a full member of a large family (parents & 4 kids under 8 years old), our pup has needed to stay fit and strong to keep up with our active lifestyle. We tried a few different brands for our sweet Boxer/Rottweiler mix and we noticed a few things. As soon as we tried the Blue Buffalo brand - her dandruff and her coarse thick fur changed. No more dandruff and her fur became softer and brilliantly SHINY! I didn't like paying the price so we switched to a Costco brand.... BAD mistake. Within a week her fur had gone back to a dull color and wasn't as soft. I apologized to her and to our family and my husband quickly signed up for the monthly shipment of Blue Buffalo Brown Rice & Lamb. Since our dog has joined our family (over 2 years now), we have discovered that she has terrible reactions to certain food. She cannot have just any dog treat. She will experience vomiting, diarrhea, and occasionally, face/neck tremors (scary!). She needs pure food with high quality ingredients without random fillers. She has never been sick when on a diet of pure Blue Buffalo. And that alone makes us huge fans and loyal customers of Blue Buffalo. And even though she had to have her bad teeth removed (all 12 of her front incisors, top and bottom), she is able to enjoy this dry food when mixed with warm water and given time to soften. We love our puppy! And we love Blue Buffalo!

Tried many foods before settling on this one

In a household with two dogs, we have several requirements for our dog food. We have a Great Dane and a Samoyed. The protein levels and calcium levels are both important with a giant breed and this food falls into the right range. With the glucosamine and Omega 3 in the food this one fit all of the nutrient requirements. There are a few foods out there that hit all of those points. Our Samoyed has a sensitive stomach as well - so something he both likes to eat and doesn't upset his stomach is important also. As a side benefit - talking to other great dane owners, they are feeding much larger quantities of food than we are. Less food to maintain an optimal weight provides two benefits - a lower food cost and they digest it well - which means less comes out the other end.

Well worth the price

The price is high but it is worth it to me. I have a 95 LB 2 year old White German Shepard who I got as a rescue almost a year ago. When I got him he was undernourished and in terrible condition. I started feeding him Blue Buffalo he got very sick at first because his system was not used to such high quality nutricious food. He had been fed very little and very cheep food. After just 30 days he started gaining weight and his skin and eyes started getting clearer and his fur got thicker. He has gained 35 pounds and is at his perfect weight for his size. He is BIG and beautiful and he loves his food.

Dogs love it...

Well I've tried so many dog foods my German shepherd is such a royal pain in the butt when it comes to eating but I find if I wet this food she devours it. Ive tried just about every dog food on the market at least 12 diff brands so far. She likes this food and I'm a happy camper now. She was 65 lb but now after 3 months she's 79 pounds at 15 months old.

and thankfully have yet to have a bad bag like some of the other reviewers

I have a small full grown 34 lb. English Bulldog. She hasn't complained about this food once. The price for the 30 lb. bag of large breed chicken and rice is substantially cheaper on amazon than in a pet store. It takes my dog about 2 months to finish this bag. I've ordered it many times over amazon, and thankfully have yet to have a bad bag like some of the other reviewers. I have purchased this bag at pet stores when I needed to, and could find no side by side differences in terms of quality.

Blue Buffalo Lamb

Been using BB for almost a year now. Very happy with the results. I have a couple of very picky eaters. They both like the lamb and the life source bits are a big plus. Keeps me from having to purchase Cosequin while they are still young .

Great purchase for our underweight active dog

Bought this for our very active young large mix breed dog. She has always been underweight, but is extremely active. I heard about this food from someone else with a dog that had high metabolism so I decided to try it. 3months in and this definitely seems like this food is working well for her! Her weight has improved and even her coat seems healthier. It is true that you get what you pay for.
