A little goes a long way
I'm terrified to work with this stuff. But a little goes a long way and I can use it, scoop it up, and put it back in the bottle to reuse. Love using this and my cricut to personalize gifts.

Love it!
This stuff is amazing!! I am now an etching fool! I use oracle 651 as my stencil material and etch on glasses and other glass table wear. I apply it with a small paint brush or popscicle stick and try to avoid "brush lines" as these will show up on the final product. I usually let it set for 15 minutes before scraping the excess and rinsing. I always wear gloves and eye protection, as this IS corrosive and can harm you. Don't mess around with your eyes! It does not do well on large surfaces- don't expect to get good results if you are trying to cover large areas (like make a window frosted, for example).

Quick, easy and good
I cut a fairly detailed stencil with my Silhouette Portrait and used the etching cream to personalize a glass kitchen storage jar. Applied stencil to glass, applied etching cream, wandered around the house for maybe half an hour, removed etching cream, and voila--beautiful personalized gift. I am a disaster with crafts so I could not believe how easy this was. The 22 oz. jar is a lot--I would recommend buying a smaller quantity until you know how often you will be using it. Some people suggest reusing the cream but I didn't. Be very careful applying the cream--it etches immediately and you can't really fix errors. I used a bit of clear nail polish to touch up some messy parts and that was good enough, but I will be much more precise next time and cut the stencil with plenty of room around the edges.

Turn simple glass into gorgeous gifts!
I have a vinyl cutter and decided I wanted to try glass etching. This stuff works fabulously! My process was to cut my design in adhesive backed vinyl, weed out the parts of the design I wanted to etch, apply clear transfer tape to the front of the design, peel off the backing paper on the vinyl, apply it to the glass I wanted to etch, carefully peel off the transfer tape, apply a thick coat of the Armour Etch Cream using a foam pouncer, wait at least 5 minutes, wash the cream off with running water and then remove the vinyl. Here are some tips to get the best results: 1. Make sure the glass is very clean. I wipe it well with rubbing alcohol to ensure there are no oils that would prevent the etching cream from etching evenly. 2. Rub the vinyl hard to make sure every edge is completely adhered to the glass. If it isn't, the cream can bleed under the edges. 3. Apply the cream thickly and as evenly as possible. I pounce it on rather than brush it to avoid brush marks in the etch. Make sure it's so thick that you cannot see through it at all. 4. The directions say to leave it on for 5 minutes but longer is fine and makes a deeper, more frosted etch. 5. Work on a covered surface and wear gloves. If this cream gets on anything else, it will etch it, too. Remember, this is an acid that is strong enough to etch glass! Also, I suggest working in a well ventilated area. I do it on my front porch. You can etch all sorts of things. Some I have etched are glass tumblers, mugs and steins, glass dinner plates and platters, glass bakeware, mirrors, canisters, jars, bottles and window glass. Etching your name onto platters and bakeware ensures it gets returned to you. Etching names and monograms onto simple glass mugs or plates turns them into fabulous gifts. This is a fairly big bottle of etching cream and even applied thickly, it will etch a lot of glass.

Great product creates beautiful etched products
I bought this large size armour etch cream bottle, without really reading the reviews. My product arrived without instructions, and at first, I was kindve freaked out about the warning printed on the front of the bottle/label. It says: WARNING can cause blindness or death. So i tried to return it, but it said "sorry. not able to return based on the handling instructions." So, since i figured I was stuck with the product that I would figure out how to safely use it. I first emailed amazon and they told me to go to the product and there would be down loadable pdf instructions on the item ordering page- there was not. So i did a you tube search and lo and behold- how to use the armour etch product tutorial! Since it is such a dangerous and strong chemical, although the guy on the youtube tutorial didnt seem to use any protective equipment, I purchased some goggles (which fogged up while I was using the product) and used gloves, just to be on the safe side. I used the recommended time as directed on the tutorial. I bought some cheap colored glass from the dollar tree to practice on, first. It actually took me a few tries. I also bought some vinyl adhesive craft sheets to create my own stencils to place on the glass. When completed my glass items came out beautifully.

Armour Etch is great for so many of my craft projects
Armour Etch is great for so many of my craft projects. Be careful it works instantly on contact. Wear rubber gloves and don't get on your clothing. Also, some say use a spoon to put on. I have found that using a sponge brush does the same job as putting it on thick. Very little goes a long way. Also, wash off prior to removing any tape, vinyl, or stencil. Running under water it looks like nothing happened, once your glass object dries, your masterpiece is visible.

Works great
The etching cream works great. I find that with a little extra time on the glass it gets the best outcome. I used this product to make gifts for family at Christmas that were personalized. Not only did they love there gifts I had fun making them. The cream is thick enough that it is easily applied with a brush without dripping. So I simply put down a piece of paper towel on my work area, it all cleans up well. Make sure if you do get it on the table you use a damp cloth to wipe it off right away, if it can etch glass it can eat finish. Like I saidabove it's thick enough that this should not be a big issue. Love this stuff.

Great for a DIY wine bottle project
This did exactly what it said it would but I should warn everyone out there that etching cream doesn't work equally well on all bottles. I frosted wine bottles to use for serving iced water and they look great - but they're not perfectly etched as the glass was resistant to etching - if you like things perfect this is not the product. Sand blasting, while riskier and more expensive, might be a better choice. For anyone who'd like to do the same, I used blue painter's tape to create bands of varying height for the etching on the bottles, starting about 3 inches from the base and going to just below the neck. They look fab. Ooops! I forgot to mention: I've done 24 bottles so far with this bottle and probably have enough to do at least another 1-2 dozen. Creating the bands makes it go much farther.

Powerful stuff!
I could not get it to etch my suit of armour regardless of how much I used! Seriously though, this stuff works great for etching glass, some metals and removing certain coatings from some plastics. Please though, if you buy this stuff, I cannot stress enough that you need to be super careful with this. Make sure you wear protective gloves and eyewear! If you are using anything but the smallest amounts, it is best to use it outdoors or at the very least wear a respirator that is rated for use with Hydroflouric Acid (it has different requirements for respirators than other strong acids.) It is made from some VERY VERY nasty acids. All of which convert to Hydroflouric Acid via differing routes and that is some potentially very seriously disastrous stuff to work with! If you get this stuff on you, make sure you grab a phone to call your local poison control office to see if they recommend going to the emergency room! I am not kidding! Hydroflouric Acid can KILL you in not so large amounts via skin absorption alone. If you get some into your eyes, just call 911 immediately and then the poison control for further direction if not provided by 911.
