We like it. Here are some install tips
Nice looking gate. Feels sturdy. Perfect for keeping our four legged children up on the deck. Works well they are Beagles who love to go out and follow thier nose so security is a must. TIP 1 When you first sit the gate in the opening you will think hey something is wrong with this thing. The gate’s latch is a couple inches from the frame it is to connect. Slowly tighten all four adjustment pieces and miraculously the gap will close. Stop tightening when you have the perfect fit. Reminder wood can expand and contract from season to season so you may have to twink the tension occasionally. TIP 2 Install the 4 C shape wall mounts no matter what the wall or door jam is made of. I got the impression they were included for installing up against drywall or sheetrock. BUT Without these in place no material the material and no matter how tight the fit the whole gate could possibly be pushed or pull out of place. We have broken many a wooden scissors type gate having to put an extreme amount of tension on them to make the fit secure. TIP 3 Have handy a high quality Phillips head screw driver for mounting these 4 C shape mounts. Possibly a drill and small bit for making pilot holes. In our case the deck wood is older and seasoned and I was able to screw in the wood screws without a pilot hole by hand. I’d use a hand screw driver or variable speed drill driver. Careful not to crack those C shape mounts. TIP 4 Might want to have a level handy to make sure the gate is being installed level and square. TIP 5 It’s a good product but to be safe I would not leave a child or pet around it unattended. Wow didn’t mean to get so long winded. A few folks mentioned price. On 6-1-18 we paid $54. And free two day shipping.

Just what I needed
First, read the notes and instructions fully then set it up. It's actually pretty simple but, you need to do things in order. As you tighten the mounting brackets they tend to "walk" on the door frame and so you need to stay focused on holding them ( the gate ) in position as you tighten them up. If the at is not square in the door frame you will have issues with it not closing properly. Do not expect that once is up it will not shift if significant force is applied to the top or face by an over anxious dog or child. If that is a concern you need to use supplied mounting cups and screw them to the frame. I did not need them for my application so it only took me about 10 minutes to set it up and it works very well. The gate opening is only 16 inches and can not be changed. It does lock at the top and bottom and if set up properly the self closing spring is sufficient to fully engage the locks even when it gate has only been opened half way.

Perfect for puppies and babies!!
This great works great. I bought this gate knowing that soon I will be having a child but it works great as a dog gate as well. It is fairly easy to set up with the different extensions that are included. The best way to install is to find the extensions that work best then put in the fasteners. The metal is very strong and sturdy. I definitely recommend this product if you have baby or a puppy. I will probably purchase another one when we have a child to prevent them from entering certain spaces. Great product!

Glad I splurged.
I was scared to invest in this because of the low reviews. I'm glad I bought it, so far. I was also worried that it wouldn't work well because it has a 48in max and my doorway is 48in but it fit fine. It wasn't even extended as far as it could go, so it would probably even fit well with 49 or even 50 inches. The included wrench wasn't much help. Channel locks would be better. Opening the gate takes two steps, slide and lift. My 2 year old son figured out how to open our Expansion Swing Wide Gate, which is press and lift, but I think it will be a while before he masters this one. The color is nice. It looks more expensive than it is. The arched gate adds a nice look, even if it isn't centered when using all of the expander panels. The instructions stipulate it sits to one side. It says "auto-lock" but it's doesn't for me. I probably just don't have it perfectly lined up. If I push it hard, it will lock on the bottom, but I have to press the top button to shut it. No biggie. UPDATE: I guess it "settled" because it auto-closes, now. I didn't want to install it above my baseboard because I didn't want to trip on the threshold. Time will tell if the pressure will hold or if I will have to invest in a drill to install the included hardware. The bar spacing is very narrow. It's 2" BUT the corners on the expanders are nearly 4"x4", so I could see small cats or small puppies fitting. I was tempted to get a fabric gate and step over it. I'm glad I didn't. It would have been an accident waiting to happen, even if it was half the price. One of the reviewers called the gate narrow, but I'm not a small person (5'8", size 14-16) and I don't have to turn sideways at all. Mine separates my living/beds/baths from my dining/kitchen/garage, so we use it a LOT. Old style pressure gates with the arm would have been too cumbersome to take down and put up several times a day. For kids who can open other latch gates, for mediaum to large pets, for high traffic areas, and for families on a budget - this is the best bet. I read reviews for hours, settled on this one, and I'm happy with it. I will update the day that changes, if it ever does.

Perfect "baby" gate even if you don't have a baby!
We needed a gate for many reasons! We have a cat who refuses to use a litter box with a cover/lid and a dog who likes to dig for treasure in the litter box. We also recently acquired a new dog last minute so we really needed a gate asap to control where he roams. Plus, it is nice to have when the pizza man arrives as one of our dogs hates the pizza man.. He is clearly adopted.. We've been looking for a gate on and off for a bit, but I just didn't want to settle and spend a lot of money on a "baby" looking gate since we have no little infants running around. The height of the gate is much taller then most "baby" gates which is perfect as one of our dogs is tall and still growing. We have it set up in the front hallway by the door entrance which is about 47" in width. We are using all 3 extensions that came with the gate and it fits perfectly and is still very much sturdy. Do be mindful of the knobs as you are adjusting them to fit, if it's not tight enough or too tight then the door won't properly open or shut. However adjusting the knobs are an easy task; the gate even comes with a handy little tool to help you tighten or loosen the knobs if set up in an odd space where your hands cannot fit. Even though we do not have any little babies, I love that this gate requires a 2 step process to open and swings shut and locks back into place. So you can rest assured knowing that your little ones cannot open the gate. To open the gate, you have to push back on a little knob button and then lift the gate door in order to push it open, however it is not difficult as you can open it using only one hand. We will be ordering a second one for our other hallway.

Best solution for banister-to-banister (with a little adaptation)
I absolutely love this gate! I ordered 4 other gates and returned them all before finally finding the perfect solution for our stairs. I wanted gates for the top and bottom of our stairs that could be attached banister-to-banister without having to drill holes into the woodwork. I purchased banister adapters from dream baby (available on Amazon) so we could use these gates. They stay put beautifully, match our decor, work well, and are very safe and secure. I am so happy with this purchase! Pros: they are pretty easy to assemble and install (it took me about 15 minutes to understand how to assemble it and 30 minutes to install 2 gates) they come with enough parts to use right out of the box the auto-close feature is awesome the gate is in multiple pieces, so it can be configured various ways they can be reversed, so you can open the door in either direction the gate is beautiful sturdy and well made Cons: none (so far)!

Go slow, understand the installation and operation, and you'll get the strong gate you want.
There are a lot of mixed reviews about this gate on Amazon. "Latch doesn't work" "gate is wobbly" "poor workmanship" I thought I might be rolling the dice. Here's the facts. This is a strong, sturdy gate and does exactly what it's intended to do. You can't just twist some knobs and use it. I think that's what many people don't understand. Take the time for a test fit. Set it up a couple times, adjusting and squaring all parts. Understand the operation. There's not a traditional latch on top, just a tab to keep the gate from being lifted. The gate opens by lifting and pushing, although I have to lift it at a slight angle. Lifting disengages the two spring buttons and allows the gate to open in one direction. Once I got the fit just right,I marked the location of the pads and took it down yet again. Screwing the pad bases to the door frame, and really extending the bolts to the previous fit, I ended up with a very solid gate that would be impossible for a small child or animal to open. My advice, go slow, understand the operation, and take the time to really fit it to the doorway. You'll be happy with the end product. Also, the bow in the bottom bar is intentional. It allows the gate to be installed with tension. The bow will flatten out when the proper tension is achieved. Again, examine and understand, and you'll love it.

Beautiful Gate
Love this gate! We purchased this gate to keep our cats for going downstairs and into the basement so it's at the top of our basement stairs and we obviously turned it so the gate opens while you're on the landing and not while you're on the top step! A little thing about that, that bugged me a little is there's white imprinted text on the very bottom bar with warning info on it. It doesn't come off so when you place the gate with the door swinging out, the text is visible. Not a huge deal but just thought I would mention it. The first gate we tried had large spaces in between each rod and all 4 of our cats slipped right through. This gate has smaller spaces in between the rods and only our smallest cat, which is basically a kitten (1 year old) slips through but only in between the 2 immediate spaces on either side of the door. The rest of the spaces are too small for even her to get through. Our other 3 cats are adults and they cannot slip through any of the spaces. The door on this gate opens beautifully and unless you push it all the way back when it's open, it will close behind you automatically. The bronze color is very classy and has made our basement staircase look 1,000x better! The only issue we had when installing this gate was the oak trim that we have which goes up and down the sides of the staircase, around the entryway and along the floor. A piece of that trim comes up on the right side of the staircase and onto the wall right where the gate needed to be attached. The trim is different on the left side because we have a large oak ledge on that side. So we had trim on the right and plain wall on the left which caused a bit of frustration when adjusting the tension cups. If things aren't perfect and gate is even slightly askew, the door won''t open or close correctly. It took both of us to get it just right...one person on each side of the gate. If you have flat wall all around this gate will be a cinch to install but if you have trim similar to ours it will take a bit of maneuvering but once you get it right you're good to go. We've used the gate 100x since installing it and it hasn't budged. I have posted photos of the gate and the trim situation. Hope it helps anyone who might have the same situation. So if you have cats that are adult size and can't find a gate they can't slip through, give this one a try! It's perfect!

A life saver for a multi-dog household
Our household consists of two adults and five rescue dogs. Unfortunately, two of the dogs dislike each other intensely. It all came to a head with the result being that one ended up with a nasty laceration. We are having a behaviorist come in and advise us on that problem, but, in the meantime we need to keep the two dogs apart at all times. This is perfect for that use. It is sturdy enough that even our largest dog (not the aggressor) can not push it open or knock it over. We don't have the ideal location for it, as the blank walls in our hallway faced doors on the opposite side. The only alternative would be to move a large bookcase, which we have no other space for. So, it is at an angle. (see photos for views of both sides). It is a well-made, product and is much heavier and better looking than expected. I have arthritis in my hands and the only part where I had a bit of trouble was getting the tension disks tight enough against the wall. I did end up getting help with that part. I plan to buy another one to separate the living room/kitchen area. Please note that there is a gap and the gate will not latch until there is enough tension on either side. It does have a notice on the gate advising of that, but I was skeptical and worried that I received a defective product. Thankfully, that was not the case, and all was well when the tension was properly adjusted. I would give even more stars if I could. This is an outstanding product!
