I purchased the Munchkin Squirtin Bath Toy Barn Buddies for my 18 month old when I decided it was time to replace all of his bath toys. Despite my best efforts, these bath squirt toys eventually get mold inside them so just keep that in mind. The first time around I purchased him all bath squirt toys and now looking back that was a terrible idea, this time I'm only getting him this set of 4 along with other different types of bath toys that are much easier to keep clean. These are adorable and arrived exactly as pictured in the Amazon listing. I chose farm animals since my son knows the sound each one makes, so we can play and learn a bit. I would recommend these. I previously also had purchased the Munchkin Ocean Squirts Bath Toy 8 pack and aside from eventually growing mold inside them, they did otherwise hold up. I'm giving 5 stars because the items arrived and performed as I would expect from the Amazon listing, I've chosen not to deduct points for the mold issue because that is a well know issue for all bath squirt toys and is not in any way unique to this product or brand.

Seeing so many negative comments around these toys and mold, I feel that I should share my thoughts on mold and squirt toys. The only way to not have mold is to get bath toys with no holes at all so basically you end up with a simple bobbing toy. All squirt toys need holes to well, squirt. Even with the best imtention to remove as much water as possible, there will be mold and the only difference in each of our experiences with these toys are how fast or how long it takes for mold to stake its claim. Remember, mold spores are everywhere and pervasive and moisture and even soap can provide good for them to grow. The only factors affecting how fast you get mold is the size of the squirt holes, drying environment/ ventilation ( bathrooms tend to have higher humidity on a day's average) and how the toy is used ( squirting vs simply wetting and standing in shower, constant chewing, etc) and how much you can actually squeeze out. My daughter now takes these toys in the shower simply to have them "talk" to one another. A yr ago, she would dunk them in the tub and actually squirt them. This is my 3rd set since she could Sit up in the tub and I saw varying life on each set. Each set I had came from different brands and had varying hole sizes. What I like about this set is one, it is cute. Two, the holes are all located in their beaks/mouths unlike some rubber duckies which have holes on the bottoms which are in contact with water at all times (ducks tend to be bottom heavy). These barnyard animals do not all float on their faces and avoid the constant submersion. The holes are really small and works to my benefit as my daughter doesn't actually use them to squirt. For the price, I would change them out every 6 months Or longer depending on the 1st signs of mold. You can actually see the mold as "shadows" around the crevices inside, e.g. Darkened ear, etc. And let's be fair here, even the pricey teething toy, Sophie the giraffe, gets mold! If your child doesn't put these in her mouth or squirt them and you are buying them simply because they are cute, try glueing the holes and this way, you get a cute bobbing toy and avoid the mold issues.

I gave my 1 year old grandson a set of these. He loves the crab the most. He was 12 months during the summer and each of these fit into his tiny hands. We have a Zero Depth Spash Park nearby and that was his first intro to water parks. It's not a huge place as it is made for the little ones. I grab a beach pail, threw these guys in and a few other beach type toys, and we were off to the Splash Park. SInce my grandson is 12 months, the children were asking if they could play with him (to get to the toys, lol) and my grandson isn't lingual yet and his response was he just looked at them. LOL. It was kinda funny. Just as I was about to explain how to share the toys, one boy asked him, can we ask your Mommy if we can play with your toys. LOL. I said yes and a safe, free-for-all took place. I told everyone who took a toy to keep playing near us and when they have to leave to please return them to us. My grandson kept the crap. He loves that thing and how it's eyes pop out (can't be chewed). After the little toys were passed out, there was an instant increase in the noise levels of giggles and laughing. All the children had so much fun. They also returned the toys when they were leaving (some parents returned the toys instead, lol). My grandson needs that kind of interaction with children and we can tell he was having a blast, too. by the end of the summer, He didn't know the word sharing but he had no trouble with kids running over and grabbing the toys before I told them the rules. All toys made it home by the end of the summer, too. The secret to the black mold: Take apple cider vinegar and test one of the squirts that the paint (looks like paint, but my grandson doesn't put these in his mouth) and fill it with some apple cider vinegar and shake it around. Repeat, but don't squirt it all out. If you already have mold, the children's health is more important. Through them out and for a few dollars, buy knew ones and keep on top of the cleaning. You can keep the cider vinegar in the garage if that's where all you swim gear gets dumped out when you come home and just take care of it right away. I hope this helps! If that apple cider vinegar affects the paint, cut it in half with water (1 cup water + 1 cup apple cider vinegar). That should give you enough to clean the inside.

We bought these tub toys to make bathtime a little bit more fun for my almost one-year-old, and are very pleased with the purchase! The rubber is the right kind of rubber for chewing, and we really like the variety of creature that come in this set. They are not just nameless animals either -- it's a catfish, a mallard, an otter, and other unique animals that we can use in play to go more descriptive than just "duck" or "fish." The colors are bright, and my baby loves her "tub friends", making bathtime more fun and less of a chore than it used to be! There are two downsides to note -- first, our swan came defective and won't squirt water. We tried to puncture the hole so it would work, and it didn't -- so it's essentially just a floaty toy now. Secondly, you have to make sure to fully empty the toys for storing, or they can start to grow mold or mildew. I have no problem taking care of them as part of tub time clean up (although my husband tends to forget.) Overall, we're really happy with this product. I'd definitely purchase again!

Super cute and exactly as pictured. I purchased the Barnyatd Friends & the Ocean ones for my 15 month old grandson who LOVES these little bath toys. These were bought as replacements for the ones he already had due to Mold. With these sets I did some research on what others do to try to prevent the mold and we now rinse them out with 1 part bleach mixed with 1 part water allowing the bleach mixture to soak inside for a few hours then rinsing thoroughly at least once a week and we will see how this goes as far as controlling the mold but I would still recommend replacing them every 4 to 6 months to be on the safe side anyways. Other than the mold in all these types toys we are very satisfied with these; as mentioned they are super cute and also at a good price

Son loves them. Wish they stayed upright in the tub, but they are cute. Fun in the tub. I clean mine with vinegar water every other week and make sure they dry out before the next use, so I alternate which ones get used. Has worked out for us so far.

This is a cute little set of animal toys, my daughter loves them. But would I use them as bath toys, no, I would not. Because the opening is so small, you cannot completely dry them and when it doesn't get dried, there will be mold. Many reviewers have this mold problem and their babies get sick from it so I would not recommend using these or any other like-kind as bath toys. My daughter has lots of fun playing with them, she's 1 year old LOVES and learning names of these barnyard animals. They are just the right size for her little hands to grab onto and they are soft rubber so there's no sharp edges.

Loved this set of squirt animals. My son has fun singing Old MacDonald during bath time, and there are plenty of animals to run through. Good for little hands to grip, but probably harder to squirt until they have good hand strength. The sheep is probably the softest one, which my son loved most... to chew on its face. They can collect mold inside and out, that’s to be expected with anything subject to a damp environment. I occasionally soak the toys in a mild bleach solution overnight, making sure to suck up the bleach water in each toy, and then thoroughly rinse the next day.

I actually use them with my puppies when I give them a bath 😂 it makes it easier for me to bathe them. They don’t get as anxious to jump back out. The colors are nice and vibrant. My puppies are 7 lbs (WERE I should say. They grew rather quickly. They are at 25 lbs now) They don’t chew on them anymore. Which is perfect because they would tear them apart rather quickly. They were not made for dogs to chew on clearly. Luckily my puppies just like to push it around and play keep away with each other.

My one year old got these for his birthday and loved them. Like all squirties they will have to be thrown out in a few months due to mold, but they are fun while they last and are inexpensive so you can buy more. As pictured.
