Ever since I bought my motorhome, the screen door has never had a convenient handle to grab. I bought this bar in February 2013, during the winter cold, but never got around to installing it until we had nice weekend weather in June. It took me about an hour to make the measurements, drill the holes and mount the bar. Following the recommendations of other reviewers, I leveled the bar by measuring from a horizontal portion of the screen door rather than by using a level. As you can see from the photos that I uploaded, the screen door on my motorhome did not have a convenient handle to grab. This bar not only provides a place to grab, it also stabilizes the screen door and gives it a more solid feel. To do a proper installation, you'll need an accurate tape measure, a pencil, a drill and a Phillips-head screwdriver. As some others have suggested, measuring your door's width to make sure that the bar is long enough would be prudent before ordering.

I should have purchased this when we moved into the Discovery. Or, I should say that Fleetwood should have installed this bar on their screen door as original equipment. It's rigid, secure, and looks great. Most importantly, this bar makes it easy and efficient to close the screen door when entering the coach. A common design problem with RV's is the position of the door in relation to the steps as it’s necessary to walk down a few steps when trying to operate the door latch. Having this bar on the door provides a target for your grip. This bar doesn't have any moving parts, but it provides a great and secure grip for one hand as the other hits the latch, when closing, the bar is even better. The latches typically are paddles that have to be either pulled or pushed to activate. With the handle mounted on the door, it's easy to close the door when entering the rig. The handle is a must. Wish I saw it earlier. Here's a mounting tip which makes the bar even more secure than simply fastening it with its included 4 sheet metal screws. The included mounting instructions are easy to follow but here's a tip on making the bar a part of the door. Before mounting, clean each of the flat surfaces of both black mounting arms with 70% ethanol and install 3M Automotive-grade double-stick tape (it's black) on each of the black ends. Poke a hole for each of the screws, and then mount the bar. The flexible tape has a strong adhesive and will prevent the bar from working its way loose in-use. I use this mounting procedure for everything I mount in the RV and it hasn't failed yet. My bar is still strong, rigid, and secure. The product is well made and fit and finish is top-shelf.

I know mfg of campers need to keep costs in check but this cross bar should be a standard item on ALL screen doors. Not only does it assist in closing screen and outside door but adds a level of rigidity to screen door itself. It is not however to be used to pull on when stepping into trailer. Install is easy but using the template provided is a freaking joke and made no sense. If you have any mechanical apptitude at all toss the directions get a level a screw driver a cordless drill and small bits and figure it out. It took me maybe 10-15 min to install

This is our third purchase of the screen door crossbar. We had installed this item on our last two motorhomes and when we bought our new one, I immediately purchased this item. With this bar, it is very easy to close the door without accidentally pulling on the plastic door slide. It fits solid with the screws provided and I did drill small starter holes. The handle is very thick plastic and we never had an issue with it chipping, breaking, or any discoloration. Once you install this, you will wonder how you lived with out it. This is especially great with kids since it's easier to hold the door open and close it. If you have a RV, this is one item you should have.

Great door bar. Solid, we'll built plastic ends and attractive aluminum bar. Easy to install, fits with the overall look and feel of my camper screen soor. Makes opening and closing the door much easier and with less concern for breaking the factory plastic parts which are expensive to replace. Good product. Screws that came with it are just ok, snapped off 1 head while installing it luckily I had spares lying around. Update: After a bit of use it's holding up well. Love the function it adds. Will be sure to put one of these on every camper I have in the future. Added photos to show the install.

Took about five minutes to install. Be sure that you have a good sharp 1/8" drill bit to drill a clean hole. As others suggested, I bout new stainless steel screws. I messed up and ordered the black version of the handle and was then reminded by my wife, that the rest of the door is white. Thinking quickly, I said "yes dear, but you know how dirty my hands get when we are camping. If we had purchased the white handle, then we would have to clean it often." Yes! A save! It does seem to stiffen the door, and makes it much easier to pull the screen door closed from inside. We will see how well it holds up to frequent use.

This bar is not only useful for closing an RV screen door but increases its overall rigidity by a TON! As a mechanical engineer, I didn't think the single bar would do much for increased rigidity but figured a pull handle might be nice so people aren't destroying the screen door pulling on it... it's also convenient as there's not much to grab onto to close the door. After my purchase, I'm 100% pleased with not only it's usefulness as a handle, but more so with how strong and sturdy the cheap ass RV screen door now feels. I don't think there is a need for the dual bar version, unless your putting it down low for kids or dogs to keep them off the screen. Buy this now, for something you use nearly every time you enter or exit your RV... it's a worthwhile investment.

When traveling with young grandkids (age 3 and 4) you might get tired of telling them to "quit pushing on the screen door!". I know I did. So I purchased and installed this metal and plastic cross bar for our RV screen door before this year's trip. In the trip we just finished, June 2017, I am so glad I'd gotten this! Now, instead of often pushing on the screen, they now push and hang on to the handle. It is strong enough to contain them and the screen material is now protected from being damaged by "little hands". I found to that with hands full it is easier to push against the bar than the screen for grandma and grandpa too! It was pretty easy to install and comes with the screws and installation instructions.

Installed this afternoon - 15 minutes - battery drill w/ 1/8" bit, pencil, and Phillips screwdriver. We needed this! It works! This crossbar gives you a handle for the RV screen door, and you can actually use this handle to control the door. The screen door without this crossbar is hard to grasp, somewhat frail, subject to screen fabric damage, and generally a pain to open and close. This crossbar provides easy control of the door while you are entering or leaving, and even if you are just reaching around from inside to close the door. It is sturdy, and I expect it to last the duration. This said: it is NOT a grab handle or a handicapped assist handle to pull yourself up in to the trailer. It IS a great aid in opening and closing the screen door, and I agree with several other reviewers that one might expect the manufacturers to add this at assembly.

Great product allows you to put a push bar on the door were it's the most natural. Most bus type coaches have a rather elevated floor in relation to the door opening mechanism which is not a problem, just an awkward feel to it without stepping into the well before opening the door. I'm tall my wife is short and we both like this bar above the original push point a more natural ergonomic feel. This is well made and attractive enough to not distract from an expensive coaches look and lines. Simple to install, the directions were detailed enough to get it installed properly. It's a good value for the price. I'm not a big five star fan but this really has no disappointment. Shipped on time and arrived in excellent condition, very satisfied with the product, shipping, price, value, and installation.
