RAM products are as magic as duct-tape or Velcro, you can do so much with them. The product is as discussed on all the websites that illustrate it; however, what the picture does not show is another piece that is essential to the mounting of the bracket to the handlebar of a motorcycle. In order to prevent the attachment from slipping on the handlebar from the position it is mounted in, there must be a non-slip material placed between the horseshoe metal bracket and the handlebar. What is not pictured is the piece that "is" provided with this unit that slips between the metal bracket and handlebar on the underside of the handlebar. Without it you would need at least a piece of sheet rubber.

I bought this to attach my droid dna to the handlebars on my motorcycle. I needed 3 parts to make the mount work: u-bolt, double socket arm and x-grip. First, the u-bolt mounting base clamps to the handlebars. I put some electrical tape over the bars to keep them from getting scratched up and also create a higher friction surface to keep the clamp from spinning on the bars. It came with a nice adapter to fit either 1" or 7/8" bars. Next you need a double socket arm which has a socket joint on each end to grab onto the ball on the u-bolt and the ball on the phone grip. Then you attach the x-grip to the other end of the double socket arm and you are good to go. The 2 ball and socket joints give it really good articulation so it can be adjusted in any direction and the knob allows you to easily tighten it down snugly without tools. I was a little worried about my phone flying off the mount at high speeds but it proved to be very stable. However, for a little piece of mind, I created a small tether out of some string to attach the phone to the mount in the event that it came loose while under way. Fortunately, this was just me being overly cautious because I never saw it move at all during any of my rides.

I've mounted this to my motorcycle handlebar, and along with the short double socket arm and X-grip pieces, it securely holds my phone while I ride. I've tried it on bumpy roads, fast roads, and fast, bumpy roads, and it's always stayed put. (I did loop a tether around it and onto my phone case juuuuust in case, but it has never even wiggled.) I superglued the rubber tips onto the X-grip as recommended in the instructions if going to use on rough terrain. When mounting, I put a strip of non-slip tool chest drawer liner underneath the U-bolt, so it wouldn't scratch my handlebar finish. Solid mount. Have a couple of these so I can just swap my phone/go-pro mounts from bike to bike. I prefer this style since they’re bolted on, so they don’t come loose, and they aren’t easily stolen if left unattended. Cheap enough you can have multiple for all your applications.

This is a sturdy and secure product. I’ve had it mounted on my motorcycle at over 90 miles an hour with no problems. There’s all kinds of accessories to attach it anywhere on your bike. There’s only one downfall and that is the rubber knuckles that hold the phone secure tend To crack in the weather. It’s a wearable items. I expected that. That’s no reason to take a star away. This is a fantastic product and I would highly recommend it to anybody. As of right now it’s attached to my beach cruiser.

I used this to attach my Ram Mount X-Grip phone holder to my rear view mirror in my truck. I've had this in my last truck but forgot to remove it when I lost the truck. My old truck (2008 F-350) gave me zero issues, ever. My new truck (2015 F-250) now has a dancing mirror. Is what it is, really. I hardly use the rear view mirror as I am mostly towing, and rely on my phone for directions at every turn. It will work for me. If you are going to use it for your rear view mirror, and would like to utilize the function of your rear view mirror, do understand that it MAY or MAY NOT cause your mirror to bounce and shake continuously. Could have a little to do with my phone as well, iPhone XS Max... Overall, great products from a great company!

So this is like the 4th or 5th RAM product that I have purchased and they have all worked perfectly. This particular base mounted to the 1" handlebars on my Harley-Davidson for use with a phone. I don't know what kind of rubber/plastic compound RAM uses to make this base, but it's practically indestructible. I'm pretty sure that if I was traveling down the highway at 70mph and went head on into the grill of an on-coming 18-wheeler...this mount would be the only thing that survived.

I bought the following combination of RAM products to mount my Nuvi 2455LMT on my 2000 VSTAR 650 motorcycle: + RAM Zinc Coated U-Bolt Base w/1" Ball (RAM-B-231ZU) Sold by: GPSCheap + RAM Composite Short Double Socket Arm for 1in. Ball Bases (RAP-B-201U-A) Sold by: GPSCheap + RAM 2.43" x 1.31" Diamond Base with 1" Ball (RAM-B-238) Sold by: GPS City + RAM Plastic Cradle (RAM-HOL-GA25U) Sold by: Amazon.com LLC The combination of the 4 pieces gives me a rock solid GPS mount that was easy to install and very flexible as far as positioning. Obviously you can swap the cradle for whatever product you need to mount. I chose the 1” balls and short double socket arm because I didn’t want the GPS sticking out from the handle bars too much. If you mount the U-bolt base with the ball down and then have the socket arm coming back up, then the GPS/Phone/Whatever will be tucked in nice and close to the handlebar.

I bought this along with the RAM Mount X-Grip IV large phone cradle. Installation on my motorcycle (Honda CB500X) was super easy. Used it on an off-road trip through Black Mountain Wilderness north of Barstow and it worked beautifully. It was my first time going off-road with my motorcycle, so of course I fell A LOT! But this mount held up nicely. Never once shifted in place and even riding over rough terrain it doesnt vibrate. Not that these items are very heavy, but it held the weight of a my LG G3, Nexus 7 tablet, and TomTom GPS without issue. Definitely recommend this to others wanting a solid mount for their motorcycle.

I've used RAM Mounts for several years on my motorcycles and vehicles and have yet to be disappointed. I was initially disappointed when I thought I couldn't mount a RAM ball to my new K1600GT...the only options seemed to be a $150 machined aluminum ball that would then accept RAM accessories. Then someone on an Iron Butt Association forum stated that this little guy would work in between the two aluminum spars connecting the handlebar clips. Sure enough! The rubber on the bottom as well as the rubberized top section help protect the aluminum and keep it in place. Have over 3,000 miles in a short bit of time with all kids of roads and it's still solid as it should be! Great product!
