Great unit, easy to install BUT THERE IS A TRICK. Watch video on youtube! Don't waste time reading instructions....
Great garbage disposal. Quieter than my former Badger 1. Hard to imagine that someone would need more power than this one offers. Only thing I didn't like is that the flange that shows in the sink is chromed and stands out against the stainless sink. The EZ install flange is actually EASY BUT ONLY ONCE YOU LEARN THE TRICK. The instructions are reasonable but do not make it clear which groove that you install the rubber part into. Pay VERY close attention to how it is assembled when you receive it. It should be very easy to mount. I had a terrible time trying to get it attached for an hour and even had a floor jack under the sink trying to load the rubber. Thankfully, I didn't break anything. I went and watched a YouTube.com video someone made about installing this until and had it done in 3 minutes. I just had the rubber part in the wrong groove - it is not obvious. Also keep in mind that this has a electrical plug attached and you will need to have an outlet under your sink (unless you want to cutoff the plug). I was planning to unwire the plug, add a strain relief, and hard wire it but that is not possible (without significant mods) as the wire is sealed / potted into the body of the unit. So, it was easier to just mount an outlet under the sink.

The Waste King price was already low
I was already looking at this disposal unit when my Insinkerator unit rusted through, but I hadn't made a decision to go with this Wast King unit or another ISE unit. The Waste King price was already low, but when it went on sale for about 50% off, I decided to give it a shot. Installation was a breeze. Maybe this was because I read through the instructions, maybe it was because I had already been doing research by reading other reviews and watching youtube videos. In any case, I had no problems whatsoever with the installation. After removing my old rusted out unit, the new Waste King went in with about a half-hour's worth of effort, with no leaks afterwards. The E-Z installation is really simple to work with, and it helps that this unit is really light as well. I like that it comes with everything it needs for installation, and that it does not require plumber's putty for a stainless sink. The unit itself is shrouded in plastic rather than metal, which is probably why it's not as heavy as other types. It does seem to operate a lot quieter than my old one, even though it's more powerful. My only gripe at this point is with the chrome sink flange. It looks really nice at installation, but the flange is plastic - it's going to get beaten up and scratched. I lightly dragged a knife across it before installing just to see how durable it was - it's not. The chrome finish scratches very easily. I can't help but feel that a brushed stainless steel finish would have been better.

Great Disposal. Very Quiet. Easy to Install!

Perfect replacement unit without breaking the bank
Bought this to replace a dead disposal that came with my house. I consider myself handy, but me and plumbing tend to not get along. However this disposal was very easy to install, and easy to get up and running. The guide book could have been a bit more detailed in some sections, however it was easy enough to get setup and running in about 45 minutes. Removing the old disposal was harder then installing this one. It is also surprisingly quiet. Now, its far from silent running, but where the old disposal was a loud and angry growl, this is more of a deep hum under the sink. Loud enough to let you and everyone in the kitchen know its running, but not enough to scare the dog anymore. Keep in mind though, its a simple unit. It is not silent. It will not shred apart a whole chicken in one go. However it is a solid, and reliable litter disposal that makes good work of normal sink waste. Pros - - Easy Install - Dishwasher hookup - Quieter than expected - Clear instructions - Came with everything needed except putty Cons - - Instructions not 100% clear for some actions

Easy install, great instructions, no problems (comprehensive review)
Okay, I just got the Waste King L-2600 1/2 HP disposal, which comes with 3-prong plug (as opposed to direct wire) and easy-install sink drain attachment (as opposed to three-screw bracket). I went for this unit after my existing ISE Badger 5 began leaking from the reset button, which is apparently caused by the galvanized steel plate that separates the plumbing and electrical halves of the unit corroding through and letting water seep into the motor housing—and thence onto the bottom of my cabinet, and from there into puddles on my floor. Which, hey, it's a common failure mode, was easy to diagnose, and the Badger 5 is a cheap but reliable unit otherwise. We got way more than the warranty life out of it. Installing the Waste King L-2600 took way less time than removing the Badger and its three-screw bracket did. I like the three-screw bracket design, it's great for sturdy, reliable attachment and is made of stainless just like the sink—and if you want the same exact Waste King unit with a three-screw bracket, you can get the L-9930. (Or apparently you can attach the 2600 to your existing bracket with a separate rubber gasket unit made by Anaheim, but that makes the whole assembly taller.) What the 2600 comes with is a black plastic flanged tube, the user-facing part of which is silvered and has "WASTE KING" and the crown logo imprinted on it (just like the ISE bracket has their branding). The silvering doesn't go very far down the inside of the tube. (Obviously, we'll see what kind of life span the silvering has in use, but I really have nothing against plastic plumbing otherwise.) A very thin black rubber washer seats between the flange and the sink, with a fiber washer to cushion the plastic nut for the other side. The thin rubber washer does a very good job of helping to seat the flange such that it doesn't want to slide around or twist out of place once the nut is anywhere near reasonably snug on the bottom. This made it very easy to get the logos lined up the way my anal-retentive brain wanted them, and have them stay that way once I fully tightened the nut against the bottom of the sink. You will want to tighten the nut so that it is very secure, but I didn't have to resort to anything but hand pressure to do that, and once fully installed I got no leaks from around the flange. The zinc nut that will hold the disposal unit in place seems to be a very solid part, and the rubber seal that snaps in below it really does click in like a tupperware lid, so the nut stays on. The instructions tell you that, and also to put a little dish soap on the locking nubs on the disposal unit itself to help get the nut over them and locked—really, great instructions, and even if I hadn't done the research online they would have told me everything I needed to know. The disposal unit connected up very easily, just as indicated, and held securely once the nubs were all the way over in the locking channels of the zinc nut. Between this and the support of the plumbing drain, I have no worries about the security of the unit's attachment to the sink. The drain tube is almost exactly like the one from the Badger, and once I got it aligned with the P-trap everything went together exactly as it was supposed to. My dishwasher drains into the other, regular sink drain, so that wasn't a thing I had to worry about and I can't give you information about that feature. (Frankly, I prefer it this way; I've definitely had dishwashers hooked up to disposal units and had the whole thing back up and spew water and food waste everywhere when there was a problem with the disposal. For the love of your sanity, run your dishwasher drain into a regular, open pipe if you can!) I'm quite fond of the convoluted splash guard from the ISE units, because it gives good coverage without being restrictive. The Waste King splash guards are flat, with an open center hole and radiating cuts out toward the edge, and this definitely blocks more splash from the unit, but it also splashes more from the faucet hitting it, so there's a tradeoff there. It's not really an obstruction, the flaps all push out of the way easily enough and come back together, but you push food waste through it more than just letting it fall in. On the other hand, maybe it'll help keep utensils out a bit better. With this unit the splash guard is removable, and that's a plus for cleaning. It slides down snug into the bottom of the flanged tube, and seats very nicely there, but isn't at all difficult to remove. And the stopper fits over it, and seals well so far. Obviously that edge seal on the stopper will degrade over time, but that's normal, and replacements are available. However, it is a slightly smaller size than the ISE drain, so the ISE stopper is out with the old unit. When run from the switched outlet, there's a sharp click of disengagement at the start, but after that the motor sound is far quieter than the Badger ever was. Obviously, I'm comparing an end-of-life appliance that has run untold quantities of food waste and the occasional other object for at least 4 years to a brand new motor, and we'll see how the Waste King stands up over its much longer warranty life, but so far I'm very pleased!

A better alternative to the ISE Badger 5
I have installed dozens of Insinkerator Badger 5 garbage disposals (1/2 HP), and my customers were happy with the price and performance. However, within the past year, several of the disposals have developed leaks in the grinding chamber causing water to enter the electrical compartment. I switched to Waste King based on Consumer Reports ratings, and now recommend them exclusively to my customers. The L-2600 is a perfect choice if price is an issue. If not, I recommend the L-8000 (1 HP) model that has a lifetime, in-home warranty. Both disposals have removable splashguards and come with a lifetime corrosion warranty. Waste King disposals are actually easier to install than Insinkerator if you read the instructions carefully. They do make a different sound when running. Some customers find them louder while others find them quieter. Amazon has the best prices for Waste King disposals. Update: I installed an L2600 disposal yesterday, 3/6/19, and noticed the EZ Mount flange was plain stainless steel without the Waste King etched logo on it. I called Waste King, and they said a design change had been made to their flanges that are now brushed stainless. The in-home warranty is still 5 years, and Amazon’s current price of $67.19 is very cheap for this fine product.

Better than Badger at Half the Price!
I purchased this to replace a 1/3 horsepower badger that started leaking very badly. It was more of a pain to take off the badger disposal then to put on the waste King with the easy mount system for sure. This is a 1/2 horsepower unit and is much quieter then the 1/3 horsepower badger that failed. I have no idea why this isn't sold in Home Depot or other hardware stores as it blows away the competition at a fraction of the cost. A 1/3 horsepower badger at Home Depot is $90 bucks, that's crazy! The easy mount system is absolutely fantastic! If you follow the directions, take your time, you can install this and approximately 15 to 20 minutes. This does not include the amount of time to remove your old unit. Lastly, the aesthetics of this particular unit is far superior to that of badgers. And they provide a 5 YEAR service or replacement warranty. Thank you Waste King for giving me a better, more powerful, and better looking alternative at a lower price point!

AMAZINGLY EASY INSTALLATION for a GARBAGE DISPOSALsays MY 15 YEAR OLD GRANDSON!!!!
THE BEST AND EASIEST INSTALLATION EVER!!! My 15 year old grandson helped me install this disposal. He can get under the sink where I cannot. He has never uninstalled or installed a disposal before so it was all new to us. The worst part ever was getting the old disposal out!! It was obviously gerry-rigged and a total nightmare. Hammer, screwdriver, lots of cussing - reminds me of A Christmas Story type uninstall. That took well over an hour. It was ridiculous. I was cussing my ex-spouse the whole time. Watching the video that shows step by step the installation was a VERY great help. However, there is one error on the video where the instructor says 'turn the disposal to the right' when he turns the disposal 'to the left' and it's obvious it had to be turned to the left. Locking it in place was a turn to the right. Step by step took approximately 20 minutes and part of that was replacing some old piping that attached to the new disposal. This was a breeze!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS DISPOSAL FOR IT'S QUICK AND EASY INSTALLATION. It's also VERY quiet. Thanks for such a terrific product. In the future, I will buy this again and have recommended it to my adult kids for their own homes. I'm sorry I didn't take pictures. It would have been worthwhile.

No need for extra parts
My house came with the cheap disposer under 2 sinks. Surprisingly they lasted about 15 years before rusting through and leaking. When the first one went, I found this Waste King, installed it and was very happy. 6 months later the second one went, so I simply searched My Amazon list to buy another of the same. The second one had the dishwasher drain going to it, and after seeing the Amazon recommended purchase of an adapter, I wasn't sure if I'd need one. Another review said they didn't need it, so I didn't order the adapter. What I can say is if you're installing a dishwasher drain for the first time (new house, adding dishwasher where there wasn't one before), you might need the adapter. In my case, the plastic fitting for the drain hose was the exact same size as the Badger disposer that I replaced. So if you're just doing a replacement, you probably don't need the dishwasher drain adapter. Others have already said it, but this is a great disposer for the money. I like how fast it spins and how quiet it works. I liked it enough that I bought the same model when my other sink disposer went out.

Great garbage disposal, super easy installation!
This garbage disposal is super easy to install! When my InSinkErator Badger 5 got totally rusted in less than 2 yrs (my husband installed it at that time), I saw this one on sale and decided to give a try. Now I am super glad I did since it was almost half the price (with the sale) and the installation was breeze. First, all the pieces were connected when the product was shipped, and I thought some of the parts were missing so I called the customer service. The customer service was very prompt, and the representative sent the part in free of charge very next day without thousands of questions. How nice! Also, at that time I found out waste king was part of Moen, even better! Anyway, with superior customer service, I finally installed it and I just couldn't believe how easy it was compared to InSinkErator Badger 5. Waste King's EZ mount system is fool proof for real. I you read through the instruction as it recommends, then you are good to go. One down side of this garbage disposal is it comes with the plug in cord. So if you don't have an outlet under the sink, you either have to create one or have to cut the cord and do hardwire it. I really wanted to make an outlet under the sink, but I was not handy so I just cut the cord and hard wired it. It is working beautifully and I think the noise level is almost same or slightly less than InSinkErator Badger 5. I have been using it for few months now, and really there is no complaint!
