Great boat winch!

Overall: This is a great winch. I bought it to replace my boat winch and this was meant to be a direct fitment, however the center hole was off by about 1 inch. It is solid built and almost identical in quality to the one I had on there which lasted 25 years. The belt is solid and strong. Came on the winch straight with no kinks of twists. The clip on the front is a little big for most boats but I made it work. The handle isnt the nicest to wind up but it is smooth. and straight. The locking latch is tight and it will have no problems holding it weight. Pro's: Solid Well made Strong Solid Latch Con's No mounting bolts included Size of the clip

Better than expected for the $$

Good quality for the price. They even used Loctite on the hardware and (lightly) oiled the steel. Seems like a trivial thing, but these days companies try to cut so many corners to save a dime that I appreciate when they do something right! Seems mechanically sound and well built so far.

Works for me

Great price and quality. Perfect replacement for my winch which was dying a rusty death. The mounting plate gives you a few options to line up your bolts, so you shouldn't have to drill any new ones. Also, some reviewers say the hook is too small, so I was prepared to replace it. However, for my application the hook was fine but the spring loaded catch was the problem as it wouldn't swing far enough out of way for me to latch the hook. So I removed the catch, problem solved.

Perfect replacement

My 98 ski boat was in dire need of a new winch, the teeth on the original had been grinded down to nearly nothing. Initially i was worried the bolt holes would line up properly or something like that but they did and it was one of the easiest boat related updates i've ever done. It's been two years now and the winch is still going strong. 5 stars!

Works Well, Rugged And Was Easy To Install

I was happy with this winch and it was a drop in replacement for my Dutton-Lainson DL1100A. My old winch was rated for 1100 lbs., but this new one is rated for 1500 lbs. The winch and ratchet are well made and easy to use. The hole-pattern is for 3/8" bolts with spaces for up to 5 bolts. My trailer only needed two of the holes to mount it. The five bolt spaces (actually 4 holes and one slot) are in a T shaped pattern. The leading row of 3 holes (forward end near ratchet handle) forms the T that that is perpendicular to center of the trailer. There is one hole in the middle and two centered on either side. Each of the side holes is three quarters of an inch from the one in the middle. The 4th hole is along the centerline and one inch back from the leading center hole. The rear slot (under spool) ranges from about four inches to three inches center to center, back from the leading center hole. I only needed the leading center hole and rear slot to mount it to my trailer.

Excellent quality and little assembly required.

Ratchets in both directions with a natural position for free spool and has a nice strap with hook setup. Bolted on the handle and it was ready for installation took me roughly 15 minutes to install on my Bass Tracker Trailer perfect for the small to medium sized boats with a 1500lb capacity.

Terrific Replacement Trailer Winch

Wanted to replace the trailer winch on a boat trailer I purchased recently that had a bent handle. After pricing the cost of just replacing the handle I decided to buy a whole new winch. Was a bit surprised at how much larger this unit was over the one I was replacing, but that was a good surprise. I am really impressed by this winch, which bolted up easily and the price was unbeatable complete with the strap. The flip lever controls the directly and there is no free-spool, which is good for safety. Look forward to putting the winch to use at the lake soon.

Well made and sturdy construction. Heavy galvanized coating resists rust. Crank handle only fits on one side (right side facing forward) but that's not an issue for me. Comes with heavy black nylon strap and heavy duty self-closing hook. You can't go wrong with Reese products. Great winch and worth the price. Comes with mounting bolts and nuts.

Just what I needed without shopping

I broke my old winch by stripping the gears and I needed one without having to run all over looking for a good one at a good price. I ordered this online and got it in two days. Replaced the old one in like 5 minutes or so. This one is made better then my old one which lasted about 20 years, so I figure it should last at least the same amount of time.

Well made!

I replaced the wench on my 175 Tracker because the old wench had been abused by past owners. This wench is well made and has a large gears. The new handle is longer than the old one and barely clears the bow so I used the handle off the old wench that is about 1.5” shorter. It would be nice if the vendors provided a drawing with over all dimensions, mating dimensions, and materials. Even a photo with scale in frame would be helpful.
