I was worried that because of this piece's affordability, I'd never learn to do anything because it wouldn't hold its tuning. I'm very impressed with the quality of it and how well it holds tuning so being brand new. I had low expectations, and I'm very happy with this purchase.

Excuse me but this is such a wonderful beginner Ukulele. I play it all the time, at least for a few hours a week and it sounds great. It falls out of tune after a few hours and you have to tune again but that is how it goes with nylon strings. It was also delivered promptly in a very cute box. I've even dropped it a couple of times and it's still going strong.

I bought this for my niece who liked playing my OS OU-5. It's a great starter for a child. Good materials, excellent workmanship, tunes easily and is in tune all the way up the neck. It is a laminated (ply) construction but has a strong voice and very, very passable tone. Laminates are fine for kids because they need very little maintenance and are rugged. Also great for an adult player who wants a good playing, good sounding second uke for the beach or campground without risking their expensive instrument. NEW PLAYERS TAKE NOTE: All ukuleles use nylon strings. These can take several days to 'settle in' and stay in tune for long periods. If you buy a new ukulele and it keeps going out of tune, do NOT complain or despair. Just keep re-tuning until the strings stretch out and stabilize. ALL UKULELES go through this process whether they are beginners or professional models.

I bought this ukulele because it was the cheapest I could find, and I wasn't certain if I'd be able to pick it up. However, it turned out to be much easier to learn than I thought and I'm glad I got it. I'm also impressed with the quality of this instrument--I've been playing it pretty often for over a year and haven't had to replace any strings yet, and it sounds great. The strings it came with are also some kind of plastic, which is much easier on my fingers than metal guitar strings. Great buy, at least if you're getting into playing the ukulele.

I ordered two Ukulele's for my daughters. One was this Makala and the other the Lanikai. They both cost about the same and we wanted to have them be different to avoid any conflicts between the girls. Amazon shipped them quickly and they were both very well packaged, as usual. Christmas morning the girls opened them up and the difference was immediately apparent. The Makala looked like a much better instrument. The Lanikai looked pretty, but it also looked pretty cheap. The difference in tone was astounding. The Makala sounded so much warmer, sweeter and musical. The Lanikai sounded tinny and cheap. It looked like an instrument, but it didn't sound like one. The Makala was quick and easy to tune. And it held its tune from the get go. The Lanikai struggled to hold its tune generally, but on of the machined tuners simply would not hold a tune. I contacted Amazon and they gave me a full refund on the Lanikai. It is shipping back today. I ordered another Makal but with the black tuning pegs to maintain a difference for the girls. I am super pleased with the Makala. It is surprising great quality for the money. I highly recommend it!

I bought this uke to learn on and I've been seriously impressed. It's easy to learn on cuz it helps build calluses, but even as you get better playing you can still appreciate the sound. The sound is beautiful. Mine stays tuned for long periods of time and the feel itself is great. LOVE LOVE LOVE this ukulele. So glad I got to have a great first uke so I could really hear my progress.

I was so excited for this shipment to come in. It came in two days and it was perfect (despite the odd, semi-open box they shipped it in). I tuned it with the Snark Ukulele Tuner, which helped me out so much considering I know nothing about tuning one. I played it and it was beautiful. I love the sound and the beautiful, dark wood. The ukulele is light with a nice finish. The only problem, however, is that it goes out of tune rather quickly. I strummed it and it would need to be tuned again after 5-10 minutes of playing. I don't know if it's the quality of the strings or a mishap on my part, but this purchase was completely worth it for me, especially since I'm a newbie when it comes to playing this ukulele. 9/10.

I'm so thrilled with this ukulele! I haven't played in many years and recently became interested in playing again. This time seemed perfect for my needs and it didn't disappoint! The delivery was amazingly quick, the packaging was perfect and the ukelele was in pristine condition. It sounds lovely! I highly recommend this seller. Happy strumming!

I bought this for my daughter. She has played the violin for 6 years and was wanting something that she could play some more pop music on. She found that the Ukulele was an easy instrument to transition to because it uses the same music and for the most part finger placement for notes. This is a light instrument. The sound quality is good for an acoustic instrument at this price point. I expect that this will last her a very long time and will make it easier for her to transition into a guitar in the future.

this ukulele has such beautiful sound. I could listen to my son play it all day! Beautiful color and look. great quality. We are so happy with our purchase. He has another ukulele too. I much prefer the sound of this one!
