Best Christmas gift ever! My grandson, who has FAR more energy than any living human being, always wants me to participate in sports. I have arthritis in my hands and it's excruciating to catch a ball, no matter how "easy" he claims to throw it. (Plus my technique is imperfect, according to him but that's another story.) So I bought him this and now I'm watching him jump from my chair that he personally garbage-picked for me. ("Grandma, people throw away perfectly good things, like sticks! I collect them!") It only took him an hour to master and now he can jump no handed. Oh, yeah. Perfect gift. Gonna need a heavy duty on for his dad.

Kiddo finally has enough weight and power to compress this pogo stick. Our daughter is 6 years old and about 51 pounds, and just got to where she can compress this pogo, but it still takes all her strength. For that reason, this pogo may not be as much fun for kids under 60 pounds or 8-9 years old. Love the padding! Gives a great bounce thanks to the heavy duty spring inside. Would highly recommend this pogo to anyone considering buying one.

Bought this for my 8 year old and he could not be happier with it. Despite being only 52 lbs he had no trouble getting it to bounce right out of the box. It took him about 3 hours to totally master the balance. Seems well made and comes with instructions for ordering replacement rubber caps for the bottom when they wear out. Great choice for a kid. Be sure you check the weight range and have helmet and pads on hand (while my kid hasn't crashed yet, I could definitely see the potential for elbow and knee injuries).

I bought this for my 10 year old daughter who weighs 62lbs. Good quality and well built. Great for a beginner. She has progressed very quickly and has started jumping over objects so I think we will need to upgrade her to a new pogo stick within the next 6months since she is an "aggressive jumper." Her friends do not tax it as much even though they weigh more than she does. My son who is 7 and weighs 68lbs does not stress it as much as my daughter due to their difference in skill level. Even with my daughter's aggressive jumping style the pogo stick seems like it can handle it.

Daughter wanted a pogo stick. I'd had bad experiences with pogo sticks as a kid decades ago. They fell apart, made a mess, were loud and jangly, etc. Not this one. It's solid as a rock, nicely padded, looks great and doesn't make a mess (so that I don't mind having it lean against the wall in her room), isn't loud and crazy sounding, and she picked up the skill within about 45 minutes and hasn't stopped bouncing since. It's been about a week and by now many thousands of bounces, and it works just as well as it did the first moment. She's eight years old and about 55 pounds, right in the range for this model. For the price (less than your average skateboard, for example) it's hard to see how you could do better. If you have a kid that wants a pogo stick, this is a safe bet.

This pogo stick is awesome. Gave it to my 6.5 year old for Christmas and he immediately started practicing on it in our basement (since it was cold and icy outside). Now at 7 he bounces on it outside almost every day and has gotten very good on it! He can hop any direction he wants to go, uses it on our narrow sidewalk, and can probably get a good 50 bounces in before he hops off now. It is still a bit difficult for his five year old sister to bounce on, but I imagine in a year or so she will be able to figure it out better.

After buying one of these for my 7-year-old son, I decided to get another for my almost 9-year-old. It seems to be a good size and fit for him, but he is obviously going to outgrow it before his younger brother. It is neither too difficult, nor too easy for him to bounce. It is well-built and he seems to have no problem using it. If I could change anything, I would make the handles a bit longer, but my son doesn't seem to mind it exactly like it is. I had been looking at pogo sticks for a while and reading reviews and this is the one that seemed the best. I feel after buying it and evaluating it, I feel like I made a good choice.

We gave this to one of our sons on his 8th birthday. He has been bouncing ever since! He absolutely LOVES this pogo stick. Yes, it was stiff to start with but we set him to "work" on a hard surface and within a few bounces he was off and bouncing. I LOVE the fact that this pogo stick is ready to use straight out of the box. NO ASSEMBLY REQUIRED nor any maintenance! This pogo stick is sturdy, well made and our son can bounce well over a 100 times without falling off. A FANTASTIC purchase. Thanks, Richard and Liz

This Pogo Stick was purchased for a child 42" tall and 38 pounds. He was very sure that he wanted to have a pogo stick. Initially it was very stiff and the balancing was difficult, but after a couple of weeks he is jumping all over the place and has designed a course jumping over boxes of various heights. One tip that was very helpful was to learn on a grassy surface rather than the cement sidewalk.

This is a great first pogo stick and my six year old daughter loves it. I carefully read some of the negative reviews for the product before I purchased the stick and, as a mechanical engineer, can offer the following observations after several weeks of use: 1. The hard rubber center cap at the top is secured by a screw and should not easily come off unless it receives a hard knock. I always make sure that the cap is still secure before I let my daughter use the pogo and asked her to stop using the stick immediately if it appears to come off. 2. Some reviewers complain that the stick is not suitable for smaller kids. My daughter weighs around 45 lbs and can comfortably use the stick. In fact, if she jumps hard she will bottom out the spring. The weight range given in the description of 40 to 80 lbs is in the right ballpark, perhaps a little optimistic toward the upper end, i.e. at 80 lbs the spring is likely to bottom out a lot. So when some reviewers complain about smaller kids not being able to use the stick, the kids are probably new to pogo jumping. The parents lift them up and balance them on the stick, and when the stick's spring does not compress they conclude that the kids are too young for the stick. What they may not appreciate is that the spring is not supposed to compress (or only very little) with a static load of 40 or 50 lbs. If it did, the spring would be too soft for jumping, i.e. dynamic loading. It took my daughter half an hour or so to work out that in order to start, it is not sufficient to just step onto the stick but necessary to almost jump onto it with one's full weight. So don't be confused or discouraged by reviewers complaining that the stick may not be suitable for smaller kids. If your kid weighs 40+ lbs they will be able to jump and enjoy the stick once they have mastered the skill. 3. The design of the rubber pad at the bottom appears to have changed from the picture above of the red/blue stick. The pad is now fairly large and even after substantial use it is still securely attached. Generally, the stick appears to be well made. I particularly like the foam padding which makes the upper part of the stick quite safe. The only minor downside is that the chrome plating of the bottom (inner) tube will wear off quickly because of friction between the inner and outer tubes (steel rubbing on steel). Overall, we are very happy with the product and the price. With a bit of common sense and attention I am sure the pogo will last and give our daughter and her friends lots of fun. UPDATE NOVEMBER 2012: After more than two years of use, the pogo stick is still in good condition and we never had any issues with it - and our daughter is not the careful type! Neither the cap at the top, nor the rubber pad at the bottom have come off or given us any trouble. I noticed that the foam padding hardened somewhat over time, probably from exposure to the sun, but it is still OK. Our daughter is now 8 years old and while she can still use the stick, the spring bottoms out regularly so we will have to get a larger one soon if she wants to keep up pogo jumping. I upgraded my rating from four to five stars because the stick has served us very well.
