If you like sweet hot chocolate then this is great. More flavor than what you get in the grocery store. And much better price, since in our stores it isn't possible to get hot chocolate that isn't in pre-measured pouches. This way you can make it as strong as you like. Is much better if made with milk rather than water. If you are a more serious chocoholic try the Godiva dark chocolate mix. If you are somewhere in between you can combine them. Amazon carries the Godiva as well.

I first discovered this at a coffee shop I worked at in 2003, then at another coffee shop in 2004. I didn't taste it for years and then re-discovered it again at a coffee shop that makes amazing iced mochas. I looked into it and found out they use Ghirardelli! No wonder those mochas are so amazing. I recently discovered I can buy this in 10lb boxes on amazon, which I'm doing now since it lasts longer than the 48oz can. I throw this in coffee most of the time, but every now and then I make hot chocolate or chocolate milk for my kids which they love. I have noticed I have to follow the method the coffee shops use, which is to blend this into cold drinks using a blender, or it doesn't mix well. Side effect is foamy chocolate milk and it's delicious. :)

Zero complaints. I got tired of purchasing those smaller bags of Ghirardelli hot chocolate. The stuff I normally get is the "double chocolate" hot chocolate. I was looking on Amazon to see if they made something bigger than the smaller package I usually get, because I go through it quickly and it's not a very good deal. I then saw this. I was concerned because it wasn't the usual stuff I get, however it does say Ghirardelli... and it does say cocoa... so I figured what the hell why not try it. Even if it isn't as good, I'm sure it's still good, right? Well I was right. It is basically the same thing. I can't tell any noticeable difference between this and the "double chocolate" hot chocolate they sell. Oh and did I mention it's the best damn hot chocolate you can get? Seriously, I've tried it all. Including the terribly over-rated Starbucks hot chocolate (which by the way, is literally disgusting). This stuff is plenty sweet, but not too sweet, and the chocolate tastes just right. Definitely no need to add sugar like I did with, say, the Starbucks kind. This stuff mixes pretty well into the hot milk too. I usually put some milk in a cup, microwave it to get it warm (about 1:30 in case you were wondering - don't wanna get it boiling), then eyeball a couple teaspoons of this stuff. It says you should use 3 tablespoons per 8oz of milk but that is way too much and you don't need that much. I have a giant 20oz mug that I love using, and I use 3 heaping teaspoons of this stuff and that is more than enough. I could probably get away with just 2. Anyway, like I was saying, it mixes pretty well. Sometimes you get some hot chocolate that you make with milk and it doesn't really mix very well in with the milk. I haven't really had this problem. It does take a minute to stir up completely, but there aren't any chunks of hot chocolate at the bottom of the cup. Also, the date on this stuff is good. I bought mine in the middle of November 2015 and the date on it says March 2017.

My favorite cocoa. All the so called "gourmet" cocoas have high sugar contents and aren't nearly as good. I mail order this because "gourmet" cocoas like Stephens have displaced this in my local stores. They must give the stores a higher profit margin because they aren't nearly as good

We've been using this to flavor espresso beverages, and couldn't be happier. Excellent, full chocolate flavor without being too sweet, and lasts a long time. My only advice would be to make sure that you have a sufficiently large container at home just in case yours arrives damaged. I've ordered this item from Amazon twice now, and both times the container arrived with the upper rim badly dented. The contents weren't compromised in any way, thanks to a freshness seal that is under the lid, but once that seal was opened, the dented rim made it impossible to fully close the container again. As overboard as Amazon tends to go with packing items that don't need extra protection, it's a little frustrating to see them fail to protect the things that actually need extra padding.

I used this cocoa powder in alot of desserts that I make. Mostly on brownies and Frozen hot chocolate (serendipity) and it always turn out so great. I've recently used this for chocolate lava cake and it turned out great as well instead of melting choco chips. I'm on my 4th container and with the holidays approaching I need to make more hot cocoa! Definitely a great chocolate

This makes a delicious espresso mocha, hot chocolate, and especially brownies (recipes for all 3 are on the tin). It works great with my espresso machine's frothing wand. What distinguishes this from syrups or other powders is it actually contains a blend of ground-up chocolate, cocoa powder, sugar, and vanilla. The chocolate melts and mixes with the other flavors to make a super-rich and chocolaty mocha. I did find it cheaper at my local grocery store though.

I buy this regularly, because it's a staple for my household. I've always been partial to Ghirardelli chocolate, knowing it from an earlier life in the San Francisco Bay Area. And even though its corporate headquarters are across the Bay in San Leandro and its "sister" or "parent" company (I saw both in the corporate profiles) is Lindt in Switzerland, it's still not huge like Hershey's or horrible like Nestle (if you don't know, Nestle is responsible for some terrible stuff around the world, like selling baby formula to Africa that the FDA wouldn't allow to be sold in the US and using up water in otherwise protected areas, due to political shenanigans, affecting the environment and communities adversely). And it's really good chocolate. The sweetened cocoa is just right for my taste, meaning an adult taste that doesn't like things oversweetened. But it satisfies both cravings for chocolate and sweets in one lovely cup of cocoa.

I dont usually write a review so quickly but I purchased this for a Christmas hot chocolate bar. Now if you make hot chocolate from this cocoa at the right dosage it will taste like heaven, no we dont know how it feels to be in heaven but I can imagine it feels like this hot chocolate tastes. Its thats great, especially on a cold winter morning to warm you up. It just taste like chocolate delightfulness. Not cheap or watered down but rich, bodied and fulfilling. And please do yourself a favor and use milk, not water.

As I write this review, I'm having a cup of hot cocoa using this as we speak and it tastes so good. Ghirardelli has always been my favorite brand for anything chocolate. This is something you can use for baking, cocoa, coffee, etc. It's not marketed as a hot cocoa mix, but you can use it for that plus the price and amount you get is wonderful! I will continually purchase this as I run out and thank you for making this available.
