I bought one of these in 2003. It is great for travel as well as every day use. I am a quilter who likes to have a TV tray with a small iron to the side of my sewing table. The surface is large enough to press most blocks. The area where I press the most was becoming worn and discolored from years of use, so I decided to replace. My old one is still in good usable shape, so I will donate it to the sewing teacher at a local high school. Considering that I easily received 15 years of use from the first one, it is a very frugal purchase.

Giving 5 stars because there's actually nothing wrong with the product or the price. I will likely use this a lot during a quilting class - it's the perfect carry along tool. However, i much prefer my large 24x36" cutting mat and thick wool felt pressing pad. The silvery surface material for ironing is slippery, whereas my 3/4 thick wool felt pressing mat is firm and grips. It's a great product, I just happen to have developed a preference for the wool mat and large cutting mat instead. I do use it to store small squares and such that I've yet to assemble into blocks - use it like a file folder :) It keeps me from losing or dropping little pieces, so they stow out of the way safely, and don't get wrinkled or lost. That's a hidden feature. The unit is made very well, super sturdy, and served me well until I invested in my large cutting mat and the wool felt pressing mat. Perfect to start with when beginning as a quilter, or to carry along to class.

I bought this product originally because it was an economical way to get a pressing and cutting board in one for my quilting projects. I have limited space and I must say, this Omnigrid is amazing. I can pull it out when I need it. It's big enough to suit my needs and yet when I'm done with it I can fold it up and carry it (by the handles) to be put away. It's a lot less clutter than buying both separately. Another big plus is that I can carry it around wherever I am going i.e. a quilting class - it's lightweight, and fits easily in my car. One thing I particularly like about this is that - although its lightweight, it's sturdy. So when I go to cut something with my rotary cutter on it, it doesn't slip and slide like other cutting boards I have used in the past. This product is great for pressing fabrics and squares. One thing to be wary of is that if you are planning on making a queen-size quilt, then it might take quite some time to move and press it along the pressing board. But it is perfect for pressing squares (both small and large) and small pieces of fabric. I simply cut and then press - all in the same movement! On top of all of that, I happened to be in Joann Fabrics the other day and saw the exact same thing for DOUBLE the price. It's quite the deal if you ask me. It made it to me in three days - with no extra or upgraded shipping. Very happy with this purchase.

LOVE THIS SO MUCH. I take it with me when we have quilting day rotating. I also leave it out at home with the small steamfast iron and it saves me all kinds of time not to have to go to the laundry room to iron with the big board and iron. Way Cool!

I use this on my sewing table for an ironing station right there where I'm sitting. I have my sewing area set up in an "L" shape, so after I stitch a seam, I just turn to my left and press it, quick and efficient. Then when I need to pin or cut fabric I can just flip it over or put it down under the table out of the way. And it's easy to tuck away out of sight in a closet when I'm not in sewing mode. This was definitely a worthwhile investment for me.

I used this for a month on vacation, every day. It was fantastic. Compact, efficient and perfect for the small space I had next to my sewing machine. Love it!! Don't hesitate. Buy this for your sewing room, your travels and for a friend. The ironing pad is great and the cutting pad is also. I got nothing for this review except the satisfaction of knowing somebody else may enjoy it as much as I have.

This was just the right size (12x18”) to fit by my sewing machine. The side for ironing has a very thick pad so can handle the hot iron. I purchased a mini iron to use with it as I sew a lot of doll clothes. Now I don’t have to put up the big ironing board and iron. Great space saver.

If you take sewing classes outside of your home, you need this! It is completely worth its cost. This weekend, I went to an all day quilting class and this came in incredibly helpful. I brought a small folding table to set up next to my station and it helped that I didn't have to get up each time I needed to iron a small item or use a rotary cutter. Not to mention the time spent in line behind my fellow classmates. I absolutely love this! Omnigrid is high quality. I trust their products.

This thing is awesome. The size is useful for both cutting and pressing without taking up the entire table. Had a bit of a plastic-y scent when first opened up but that faded away within a day thankfully. It's heavier than I'd expected and I don't know that I'd want to lug it around routinely but I bought it to use on the side arm of my sewing cabinet and for that, it's perfect.

Product dimensions listed are correct: 13x19. But that is the closed or "folded" size. I had mistakenly thought that was the open "working" size. So I was expecting something much smaller than what I received. The cutting mat is 12x18. The ironing pad is also 12x18. When this thing is open, it measures 19"x26". Just make sure you have room for something this size. It velcro's closed, and has a nice handle for carrying. It will be great for taking to classes. But it's actually too big for me to use next to my sewing machine, which would have been nice. I do like it though, and maybe I'll order the smaller 8x11 size, as well. Update: I've only had this thing for a week, and I am SO in LOVE with it! No room on my table, so I just toss it on the bed and cut some fabric without dragging out the big, heavy mat, or iron my fabric without dragging out the ironing board. So cool. What a time saver. Ironing pad is stable so iron doesn't wobble, and is thick enough that you don't have to worry about the hot iron damaging the bed/table/floor it's sitting on. It folds up and takes up NO space when I'm not using it. Don't want to be without this thing! (I purchased the little Sunbeam Hot-2-Trot mini-iron to use with it. Together they've made my life so much easier!) Now, I'm going to make a case for them.
