Works Like a charm! The latching is always the factor in these and so far, the latches are still strong and locking well! The lid doesn't warp on the corners, like a lot of them do after time. This is a good strong solid product!

I purchased one of these boxes several years ago while attending college for architecture. With all my art and design classes I needed something sturdy to carry my various pencils, pens, erasers, etc. in and be able to stuff it in my backpack. I picked this box up at an art supply store in Boston about 10 years ago, and still use it to this day. The top section is nice for organizing smaller items (I have some charcoals, blending stumps, kneaded rubber, small mylar eraser, and some worn down pencils) while the two bottom compartments are good for larger items (I have a large mylar eraser, erasing shield, full set of drawing pens, a set of drawing markers, and my 4 favorite sketching pencils). It has held up very well over the years for me. I recently was looking into something for my niece who's getting into drawing, and was pleasantly surprised to see these still available. I will be purchasing one for her as a Christmas gift, and would urge anyone that needs a compact/portable case to purchase one as well. You won't be disappointed.

These Art-Bin double-sided boxes are an organizer's dream. I used one of these through college to tote around all the miscellaneous pencils, erasers, charcoals, and other gear that was required for my drawing classes. It kept everything neat, organized, and most importantly, kept my hands and non-charcoal gear from getting coated in a layer of god-awful charcoal dust. There are foam bumpers in the pencil cubbies to protect your leads from getting snapped as the pencils slide forwards and backwards in the box. I kept those compartments full to keep the pencils from going side to side, as well. You do have to be careful about opening one side of the box first and not spilling your gear all over the floor, but you get the hang of it quickly. It's really a great, sturdy item that I buy for other people and will probably buy for myself again. They would also be great for any other sort of precision tools of a small stature, not just art materials. All in all, an amazing invention for a student who needs to carry supplies across campus. It would easily fit in a purse or a portfolio bag with its slim profile.

For my situation, perfect.

This makes an awesome sketch box. I removed two of the dividers in the lid compartment where there were four square bits that were too small for writing and drawing tools combining two of these compartments into one and using a third to enlarge the adjoining area. This left the top corner square to keep my kneaded eraser in it's own section. It takes a little practice opening the box without also opening the lid section but it is quite easy to get the hang of this. The lid section is especially helpful for stowing items that you need to find at a glance as for the most part they fit in a single layer..

I bought 2. Extremely helpful.

According to my dad, who I got this from, this thing was older than me. I used it for years and of all the times it dropped, it still would work, maybe losing a piece here or there. Finally in my senior year of high school, it took one last fall, and, though it's still intact, now it will not securely close. That's why I'm ordering a new one because it's so weird not having it.

Bought 2; 1 for graphite supplies, the other for charcoal. Great containers for plein air travels.
