This Mann cabin filter is exactly the same as the OEM one found in all applicable later 2010+ model Volkswagen vehicles. The manufacturer is the same and the materials are the same. Please don't be confused by some reviews regarding stronger frames or foam materials. Previous years may have had slightly different materials. Installation takes only 10 minutes or less and requires no tools. Do not pay your dealer for this. Manufacturer recommended service interval is every 20,000 miles. For what it costs, I'd recommend yearly changes. Step 1: Unscrew the two plastic thumb screws located underneath your passenger side foot well area (directly below glove box). Step 2: With the screws removed, peel back the carpeting. It is only held in place by the surrounding plastic panels. For greater ease, remove the carpet panel completely. Do not worry it. Putting it back is easy. Step 3: You should be able to see a rectangular plastic box towards the back. The cover slides to the right to open. Push firmly to the right. Once it is fully pushed to the right, gently pull down on the cover to remove. Step 4: Pull down the old filter gently. Take note of the orientation of the old filter. There will be some leaves and debris, so make sure to cover your face and eyes. Clean the area. Step 5: Place the new filter in gently in the same direction as the old one you pulled out. The frame is paper, so it is bendable. As long as you don't manhandle it, it should be fine. Step 6: The filter bottom has slots where the cover latches go. Push it up and slide to the left to lock. Replace the carpet and the thumb screws. Step 7: Buy yourself a 6 pack and a tank of gas with the money you've saved.

This is the OEM brand that VW uses for all of its replaceable filters. It's a great product, charcoal-impregnated heavy-duty fiber. It takes about three minutes to change. I was asked to pay $35.00 for this refill at my local auto parts store. Yeah, I wanted it, but...no. I like the store, but don't feel a need to pay a $350% mark-up. Amazon fixed that for me. If you park your car on the street, you should change your Cabin Air Filter once every 6 months. If you suffer from allergies, you should change it every 4 months and vacuum your car seats and floor monthly. Call me anal retentive if you like, but I spend 4 hours a day in my car, and want to breathe clean air while I am in there. PS...The filter box is right behind the glove box (so it's easy, no tools) and you would not believe all the crap (dog hair, feathers, leaves, construction dust) that it stops you from breathing in. If you ignore it, you risk blowing out your vent fan (expensive) or A/C compressor trying to blow clean air past a clogged filter. Change it yourself and save a bunch of money at Jiffy-Lube and your VW dealer when you bring her in for service. A word to the wise.

I have a 2014 Jetta S MK6. It look me 5 minutes to set up, I am NOT at all a car person - I would typically rather just pay someone else to handle this. ..Never again, the entire process took 5 minutes and it made a world of a difference - VW forgot to change my last filter during maintenance, and it started to smell like total ass. Not anymore! Thanks!

This filter fit the VW Passat 2015 perfectly. It was an instant fix for the terrible smell coming out the vents in my son’s car. Apparently, you should change these cabin air filters at least annually, especially when the car is driven by a physically active and thus smell-exuding young guy. The funky smells can get trapped up pretty fast in the old dilter and then it gets recirculated back into the car. Blech! Not too hard to change it out either.

Whenever I would turn on recirculate in my 2016 Jetta SEL the cabin would fill with a musty smell. Despite my best efforts, I could never get it to subside completely. I honestly was not aware that the SEL had a cabin air filter, I thought it was only on the premium, but I figured I would look to see if may I could install one to help with the smell. Low and behold, when I looked under the passenger side dash, there was the factory installed filter. I promptly removed it and found that it was the source of the stench, covered in dust and various debris. Ordered the Mann replacement based on reviews - great fit and no more musty smell!

The product is better made than the OEM product. This is made in Germany and it is more substantial that the OEM filter in terms of quality and has the added charcoal functionality. Not to mention at a much better price. It is a good value buy. The product fits perfectly and the installation takes less than 10 minutes (if you know what you are doing ... ) Recommend watching the You-tube video on the installation and it is a breeze. Dealership wanted $60 plus taxes (part and labor only) and I saved $50.... feeling smarter and lucky already (albeit my luck does not last long but until then....) Highly recommend!!

The install for this in a 2007 VW GTI was simple. Under the glove-box on the passenger side is where you have to remove the foam padding to get to the plastic cover that holds this in place. This package will come with the instructions showing pictures how to replace it. Its very easy to do and you'll save lots of money doing it yourself rather than taking it to the dealer. I have 59,000 miles on my 2007 VW GTI and I don't think I've ever replaced this. I should of replaced it at 40k miles according to the maintenance booklet. When I replaced this I just feel like the air in the cabin is cleaner. Theres no odors and with my AC blasting a lot this summer I feel its good clean breathable air. So I recommend keeping a clean cabin filter in the car. It's easy to do, not very expensive and often overlooked. If you want to keep a clean car and good air, why not replace it?

Exactly the same filter as was in my VW. Removal and installation can be done in about 10 minutes, just follow the instructions that come with the filter! It really does make a difference if you change your filter. My cabin smelled like I had cow turds hidden somewhere in my car (the old filter looked like a bird had made a nest in it!) and the morning after I installed this, the small was gone! Do yourself a favor, don't pay your dealer $50 to sell you and install this. Do it yourself and save some $$$!

Definitely recommend this, both my 2012 Golf TDI and now 2017 Jetta came factory with a non charcoal filter. These filters get rid of that nasty musty A/C condenser smell and also helps reduce smells that come from outside.

Similar to the Mann air filter and and oil filter, for my 2012 VW Jetta TDI, this appears to match the OEM product. I actually went with the activated charcoal after I managed to leave some frozen chicken in my car for a couple of days in the hot desert sun and had some lingering not so great odor in my car. I cannot say if time or the filter did it, but I have been sticking with these since then. I change them out a bit more often due to living a dusty environment. Fit is perfect and they capture quite a bit of dust and particulate.
