One snow storm so far this year, thankfully! Shovel worked very well on 8 to 12 inches of fairly wet and heavy snow. Handle is configured so I could push snow on my concrete drive into a nice pile then shift hands and shovel it away. Scoop is quite large so wet snow can make the shovel heavy- be wise. Nice edge, got right down to base of snow and scraped concrete clean with little effort. Maybe it won't snow here again until next year, I expect shovel will work just a s well then.

My trusty snow shovel broke towards the end of February 2015. I could hardly blame it after the record-setting amount of snow we received here in the Boston area. Though spring was around the corner, I knew I needed another shovel just in case more snow fell. Luckily, I did make this purchase, because sure enough, we did get more snow. Nothing over a few inches, but so far, I am very pleased. And as a life-long New Englander, I think I have pretty high standards for snow shovels! First, the blade is nicely curved, so the snow gets scooped into the blade as you push it along the ground. What I especially like is that you can scoop a good amount of snow in one push. Second, the steel wear strip works great. It makes for smooth movement over my driveway, and I can clear the snow right down to the blacktop. Third, the shovel is not too heavy. We literally have a 4-to-5-foot snow bank on either side of our driveway because of all the accumulated snow this season. I wouldn't say it's "easy", but I am able to use this shovel to throw snow over the tops of the snow banks. (I am a 5' 6" female, not especially fit, but not exactly out of shape either. Manually shoveling snow is probably the most exercise I get all year!) This product boasts a "unique VersaGrip" handle which is kind of hard to see in the product photo, but basically, there's a bend in the middle of the handle. So far, I haven't noticed it being especially comfortable on my hands or anything, but it doesn't bother me, either, so I think it's fine. As I mentioned, I didn't get this shovel until the end of the snow season, so I don't know yet how sturdy this shovel will be under the weight of heavy, wet snow, or whether or not the steel wear strip will work effectively in helping to break up that layer of ice that sometimes builds up on the driveway. Still, I'm willing to give this product 5 stars now because it's doing a great job so far, and I suspect that it will hold up. I do tend to keep up on my reviews, so if I make any new discoveries in the coming winters, I'll be sure to update this review. Now, I want to say, I'm big on online shopping, and I'm always careful to read reviews before making a purchase. This shovel surprised me because it looked really great, but at the time I bought it, there were only a handful of reviews. I jumped over to the web site of a major home improvement retail chain, and sure enough, they had dozens of reviews on this product - and all were positive. If there still aren't a ton of reviews here when you look at this product, try checking out reviews on other sites. UPDATE 3/4/2015: Last night, we got a few inches of snow, then rain. That makes for a very wet, very heavy slush. This shovel felt sturdy under the weight, and held up fine.

I have one of these. It's real back saver. You can move a lot of snow with this thing. I use it on our sidewalks up to the front and back doors of our our home. Basically I use it anywhere I can't get the tractor powered snow blower. The ergonomic design that allows you to easily push the snow, as well as the two front handles to use for leverage when picking up the snow, really is a back saver. I've pulled muscles in my back several times with ordinary snow shovels. Not with this thing. So far, so good. If you don't have a powered way of moving snow in your driveway (snow blower or plow) and are left doing it the old-fashioned way, then I would especially recommend something like this. Would have been nice if my dad would have supplied me with at least a shovel like this back when I was a kid and had to shovel our driveways.

I've lived in northern New England my whole life and this is the best shovel that I've ever used. I'll be buying one for every member of my family. Has a good sized bucket, and the ergonomic handle really does make all the difference. After 10+ feet falling this last winter, this shovel still looks brand new. Highly recommended, this is the last shovel I think I'll ever buy

I haven't tested this shovel yet, but I wanted to have an emergency shovel to keep in my small car. I was actually surprised at the size of this, as I was expecting it to be smaller. However, if it was much smaller it would be a pain to use. The handle flips down and folds into the shovel itself, making it about the size of a legal piece of paper (thicker, of course). It is curved, which is ideal for shoveling, but did make it somewhat difficult to find an out-of-the-way place for it in my hatchback. You can lay it against the side of your trunk, but will stick out on the edges.

I bought my first years ago, and just bought two more, because these shovels are the best I've ever used, in terms of the amount of snow they clear and the ergonomic design. The double-handle design makes for firm, solid control as you push forward, and the lower grips make lifting and clearing snow much easier and far less fatiguing than when using more traditional shovels. Or, if you want, you can simply push a snow out of the way, and never have to lift or throw it, because the shovel is especially wide and well-designed. I have to clear a couple of long drives every year, and this shovel makes the task bearable. My first shovel has popped a rivet, where the plastic bucket attaches to the aluminum blade. It has lasted years before this happened, and it probably happened because I was using it to break up ice. I may pick up a rivet gun and fix it, myself, rather than toss the shovel. That said, this is probably the best snow shovel available. You will not regret getting one.

How often can you refer to a shovel as "awesome" or "incredible"? Not often, I'd assume, but this is one case in which that kind of praise is warranted! I live in New York City, and this winter has been brutal. Last week, we were due for an ice storm, but the car had been stuck, plowed in by the Sanitation Department with no hope for release, as our old shovel had been stolen. I needed something quick, and wasn't prepared for all the options in shovel technology. Having no clue what to look for, I picked this for 2 reasons: I liked the idea of ergonomic grips, and it's bright, blinding yellow, so if it gets stolen, it'll be more easily recovered. When it arrived, I was shocked by how huge it is - it's hard to tell, looking at a picture of it, that it's actually that big. My boyfriend actually laughed at me for buying such a crazy big shovel - he thought it was overkill! Once I got to shoveling, I had both snow and ice to contend with, and this shovel handled both with ease. The ergonomic handles and the foot step area made it as easy as it could've been to plow through mountains of the stuff standing as much as 3 feet high. The way the handles are spaced, as well as the fact that the shovel itself is surprisingly lightweight, made it pretty easy to lift large piles of snow without feeling like I was going to break my arms or back, and the edge of the shovel worked so well to get under the ice down to the pavement. I can't believe how (relatively) quickly I was able to get through all the mess with this thing! A friend & I nicknamed it the "Bad-A** Shovel" - it's that great. I'm super happy with my purchase - it gets the job done really well, it seems pretty durable, and you can see it from a mile away so it'll be easily tracked down if a jealous neighbor gets their hands on it. And my fiancee is no longer laughing at my shovel-purchasing prowess!

This is an excellent product! Absolutely perfect design for clearing large amounts of snow from sidewalks and driveway with less effort. First of all, the shovel part is well designed. It's large and shaped so that you can push snow out of the way like a snow plow instead of doing a lot of heavy lifting. Secondly the handle is well designed and lets you use two hands and makes shoveling easier on your back, which is essential for me. Thirdly, it's sturdy; I've had one for years and it's still in perfect condition. I will never buy any other kind of shovel. I even searched online to find one to order for my brother for this winter. (I saw that one person complained that it's "hard to store." I just hang mine up on a nail in the wall of my garage, and it stays there without a problem. What's so hard about that?)

we've had a couple snows now so i feel i can review this. Pros: it's a great shovel and really is good for utility. nice pusher, good scooper, and not bad at edging. it's great for scraping stepped/driven on snow. the handle feels comfortable and it really feels like it's going to last forever. Cons: the bend in the sides means it's not very good at side edging. not a big issue since you can go straight on but on stairs with 6" of snow i had some difficulty getting them clean. As you scoop with the side against the edge the snow just falls over the sides. This is really only a problem when the edge is against the side and you can adjust by just not doing it. Others: If I could design it myself I'd make it taller. I'm 6'2" and it would be just fine with me if the handle was longer.

Why can't all companies and products be this good? This is a special purpose shovel. I don't use it as much as my Rugg Backsaver. I shovel a real lot of snow and when I need it, this shovel is indispensable. It is unique, nobody makes anything else like it. Pushing, scraping, and moving giant chunks of snow, it's unbeatable. Ergo design lets you use both arms. Not great for tossing snow but that's not what I have this one for. See the photo. When you get those big piles of packed snow, I chop a giant chunk of it loose with this thing. Then I ram the blade underneath and pry the chunk off the ground and drag it to get rid of it. I have moved hunks weighing at least 100 lbs, easily, like pushing a baby carriage. Work that would have taken hours is done in a few minutes. It is also great for lighter snow storms where you have a lot of area to clear. I push it along and all the snow gets scraped up and accumulates in the scoop. Then, when I get to the end of the driveway I can either lift and dump or just tilt it to unload if I have room for that. After a year of abusing this thing, I wore the metal edge out. I emailed Ames/TrueTemper. They sent me 4 new edges ups, a day or two, no cost at all to me. Couldn't be easier......John, Massachusetts
