Amazing product
This is one amazing tool. Quickly finds faults in underground cables. Used in conjunction with the cable tracker and it makes jobs so much faster and easier. Wish that I had purchased this months ago.

Wire tracer
I use this Tracer for the first time yesterday it worked amazing I have a much more expensive Greenlee did I try to use first and because the wires are shorted out it would not Trace near as well. I know which one I'll be using next time

Great tracker if you know how to use one.
This one works a little different than other wire trackers. I like it a lot better. If you think on how a metal detector works this will work great for you. It works for wire and metal pipe. When you swing the wand back and forth over the wire it beeps at the wire not like the other ones that you listen for the null (those drive me nuts). I had to do a whole 18 hole golf course with over 1600 heads. I had to track all of the wires to the heads. It is very quick and efficiente.

it locates extremely well but it could be more robust design
The design is not bad but it looks kinda like one of my college project classes. its not that it is poor quality it just isnt the class of product that I would expect from a company like Greenlee. The metal enclosures are functional but certainly not industrial grade, weathertite, sealed, robust. it looks very similar to a project i did in college in which we cut out, bent and coated metal and used a couple screws to hold pieces together. to me, in the end this simply means it wont last for 5-10 years without very careful handling and cannot be used in bad weather. now the operation is superb. it basically injects a tone into the wire or metl pipe on one end and you have a probe (antennae and receiver) to locate the tone. the tone injection is done using three methods: directly wiring tone generator up to conductor or pipe (not recommended for live wires), a loop clamp which opens to clamp around any conductor or metal pipe (works very well and only method really needed IMO), or a box mounted, high powered inductor (not needed unless deep, long run or used to locate utilities that you dont know where they start or end but takes two people - one to carry the inductor and another to carry the wand 20 ft away and parallel to the other person as you walk). I located telephone, cable and electric service in a 1.5 acre front yard in less than 10 minutes - very simple and straightforward. I gave it 5 stars because functionally it is outstanding although I wish the design were more robust - we'll see in 5 years if i still feel the same.

I have cut my invisible Fence many times over the years and was tired of spending the money on service calls. I did some research and thought I would give this unit a try. Since my purchase I figure it has paid for itself and is saving me money now.

Great tool.
Great tool. I went to a job to locate where the underground cable was damaged and it only took about 10 minutes to locate with this tool. Very happy with purchase.

Was able to easily find the buried electric line.
This product worked great for my use. I haven't mastered finding the depth but when needed will come back to these reviews as there are some excellent recommendations how to properly use the product. Was able to trace the wire for at least 400 feet which included obstacles and found one spot I had been looking for where it had been tapped with a circuit being taken off going a different direction. Now I know where to dig to make some alterations.

Buy it
Very very good tool. Located under concrete slab to six feet for me. Built economically but well. Directions are well written enough to make you successful. Did not take long to figure out.

Most bang for your buck.
Not exactly the best you can buy, but for my application, it is the best for the money. The construction is not bullet proof for sure, but if care is used, this unit will last longer than I will ever need it. I've used it many times now to verify wire and pipe locations I was vaguely aware of and it turned out to be very precise when I exposed the locate during excavation.
