I originally purchased this product to restore headlight lens but later bought a buffer and used it to do paint correction as well. After trial and error I learned that you must buff until the product is almost completely gone then wipe haze with a clean microfiber towel to produce the desired shine (thanks youtube). It works great but don't use too much in the sections you are working on or you're just wasting product because you'll have to use more to remove the original amount you applied initially.

Love that it works... now I have a lot of work to do

One of the previous owners let someone use a brush all over this black car. In some places the scratches are light and in others there is considerable damage to the clear coat. I washed and dried the car then used Ultimate Compound with a hand applicator on a square foot of the roof. After the first application most of the surface scratches were gone. The deep scratch was still visible so I worked that section a second time. I was unsure whether wax would cover the holographic swirls that this left so I followed it up with some ScratchX 2.0 over a slightly larger area to feather out the holo. In mid-morning sun the holo effect was still visible but it looked much better. I completed this job with Meguiar's Ultimate Paste Wax. Since I know where the deep scratch is I can still see it if I really look, but the hologram effect is gone and none of the tiny scratches show up. Or maybe it's that I've been blinded by the clean, scratch-free waxed surface... Now I just need to do the hood, trunk deck and rear, and the top half of each front fender. I can't wait for this 2007 to look like a nearly-new car.

Excellent product at a great price

EXCEEDED my expectations. VERY easy to apply and REALLY makes my older car come alive. I used a DA large buffer and was amazed at how gentle the product is. BTW, I used to own a detailing shop and this product is better than most of the professional products I used to use. There is no comparison with other compounds. This is unique and produces excellent results. It does take time however so don't expect to take a few minutes, but this is the real deal to prep a car.

Try This First!

Just a simple quick test on my 1989 F350 plastic headlight lenses convinced me that this product makes me happy. I recommend that you try this product first before going the specialized headlight restoration route. It is the fast and easy way to clean and shine oxidized surfaces. I applied it just like a liquid wax with a soft terry foam mitt and then a minute later I wiped the haze clean with no "elbow grease" whatsoever. The attached photos don't really do the "before" image justice. The headlight's haziness was more severe than the photo suggests. Then for fun, I tried it on my old tail lights (after I had already purchased new replacements thinking the old ones were too far gone). You can see that they shine up pretty well. I could have saved myself $42--if only I had TRIED THIS FIRST! This product belongs in every car cleaner's arsenal.

This Product saved my 1988 Ford F-150! Full Review!

This product SAVED my TRUCK! I purchased a 1988 Ford F150 that had not been washed or waxed in 10 years!! Red paint was oxidized and faded. This compound INSTANTLY restored the vibrate and deep color of my Truck. My vehicle has no clear coat but the bottle said it was clear coat safe! Saved money by purchasing here. Bottle was big! Did my whole truck and Im sure i have a 1/2 bottle left! I applied by HAND! Ive seen many other say they used a buffing machine but you can achieve professional results with some elbow grease! restored that WET look to my paint! I have attached pictures! 5-whopping stars for this amazing product!!!!

I've never done reviews on my previous purchases with amazon..but this one really deserves the 5-stars! I had a few scratches on my car because I accidentally bumped into a shopping cart while parking at walmart (how unfortunate). I was really bothered because I don't want my car to have any scratches so I checked online and found this product which had very good reviews and a reasonable price. It really did what I've expected for it to do! You just have to be really, really, REALLY patient while trying to remove the scratches as it probably took me about 40 or more times before I was able to achieve the results that I wanted (by the way, I'm a girl who don't do exercise so guys might take fewer times to remove scratches than me).. So yes, you need to apply the product over and over again and rub it (on a circular motion--with a cotton cloth or something) many many many times! And tadah! The scratches will be gone forever!!! :) Attached are the before and after photos just to show you that it really worked for my car! :)

Ultimate Compound works wonders on black paint

I bought Meguire's Ultimate Compound after multiple users on car care forums suggested it. I have a black car and I noticed that there were a lot of scratches on the area surrounding my door handle. I applied the Ultimate Compound using a terry cloth towel (rubbing it in with small circular motions, then wiped it off) and the results were nothing short of amazing. Best of all, the process only took a few minutes. The overall look of the scratches improved dramatically. I applied the Ultimate Compound to the areas behind all of my door handles and I only wish I would've done it sooner. Afterwards the paint felt very smooth and shined beautifully. I plan on going over my entire car with the Ultimate Compound in the future. I'm happy with my purchase, and I highly recommend it to you if you have similar problems. I included a before and after pic so hopefully other uses find them helpful.

Amazing!

I really wish I would have taken before and after photos to share. So, I went camping the a weekend ago and it only had 4x4 access. The trail was super narrow and my truck ended up with tons of clear coat scratches along both sides. Easily visible up to 10 feet away. My girlfriend thought I should take it to a detail shop. Being the MAN that I am I wanted to see if I could fix it myself. I think I came a across Ultimate Compound in a Google search. Anyways, I researched it more and decided to go with it. For my DIY experiment I got the Black and Decker polisher and also the Megiiar carnauba wax. All from Amazon. Fast forward to after doing the ultimate compound and the scratches became only visible upon close inspection. I could not believe me eyes! No, they were not completely gone but you had to go right up on the door to even see anything. Finishing with the carnauba wax made it even less visible. Even when the sun is hitting it just right you can BARELY see any scratches. Great product and I highly recommend. And it's cheap too!

The best clarifying compound out there

Absolute #1 product. Most folks don't read the directions or watch YouTube videos on how to properly use clarifying compounds. I have used this to remove hard water stains, swirls, hairline scratches, blemishes, and blending after scratch repairs. Absolute ease to work with and made right. Clear coat safe. I am really impressed with this product and I am old and cranky...not easily humored. So, take it from an old guy...this is the stuff you want.

Worked like a charm

My wife hit our the side of the garage backing out and left some nice scrapes and white paint in the front bumper of our car. Before and after pics tell the story though, took some elbow grease but now you honestly can't tell there was ever an issue there. Great product!
