For the reviewers who claim this gate is cheap or defective, you are wrong. Take a moment and read the instructions. Out of the box it appear to be "warped" as others have referred it it - but it is actually designed that way on purpose...so that you can tighten it and create the proper amount of tension. I had it assembled and working in less than 10 minutes. It is durable, strong and fits my door opening perfectly. I have two five month old golden retrievers who destroyed the two wooden gate we had before I found this one. They can't chew through this gate nor are they able to knock it down through brut force! I am 100% satisfied.

I have been eye balling this gate for a few months now, I've watched the price jump and grabbed it when it was at its lowest I saw. I ended up buying two, my son is about to be 2, he's in and out my kitchen it gets frustrating telling him to get out of the kitchen and I made the jump to buy two of these because I have 2 entries. One entry is bigger then the other, and one entry is about normal door size, this gate comes shipped UPS. The only issue I had was UPS delivered one, then the next day they delivered the other. The gate comes with 1 extender a gate, since I didn't need one of the extenders for the door sized entry, I used it for the bigger entry. It's pressure mounted, YES there is a gap but you keep tightening it and it comes together and is in place when it's tightened. you don't need a wrench (possibly a drill because you have to mount it to stairs, which includes screws and caps to do so.) The intructions are simplistic. I can open it with one hand with some force, but I would prefer two hands. It opens one way, and doesn't automatically shut, you have to manually shut it, you will know it's secure when it clicks. I finally have my kitchen back and my toddler cannot figure out how to open it which is awesome! Took less then 10 minutes to install, and I am very happy with this purchase.

I got this for a pretty unorthodox reason but I'm really glad I did cause it's working out really well for me. I have a litter box for my two cats in the bathroom because it's the easiest place for us to keep it contained....unfortunately I also have two dogs and they will make a huge mess out of it if I don't keep them out of there. For a while I was using a regular baby gate but it was such a pain in the butt to have to step over it every time I wanted to go in and out of the bathroom. I also had to put a box on either side of it so that they could get in and out without having to scale the gate so I not only had to step over the gate, I also had to step over the boxes. And taking the more traditional baby gate up and down over and over again is not a fun task so I was kind of at my wits end. When I got this one I was hoping the bars would be just wide enough that they could fit their heads through but unfortunately they were just a little bit too close together for them to fit.....which ordinarily for most people I'm sure would be a good thing since these are generally used to contain more than one species of creature to one side or the other, haha. After looking at the problem logically for a few minutes I realized that I could actually just mount the gate in the door frame about 5 inches up from the floor so that the cats can pop under it easily but the dogs can't fit through it. And it works PERFECTLY. The frame of the gate is obviously higher off the floor so I have to remember to step over it and I suppose it could be a trip hazard for some, but I haven't had a single problem remembering. Install was actually remarkably easy and it was very well described in the directions - just insert the four pins in the holes at the four corners, hold it in the doorway, and then unscrew the tension cap thingies until the rubber feet are firm against the door. A couple review said it would be better with two people but I did it by myself in 2-3 minutes. I was dumb and didn't even measure my door frame first (Durp!) but even though the item description says 29"-39" opening I was actually able to fit it into the 28 1/2" door frame. Upon first trying it I was actually really afraid it was going to be a bust and not fit even with the tension caps screwed in as far as they would go, but with a little bit of exertion I was able to get it to squeeze in and then only needed to unscrew the caps maybe 1/8" on either side to get it to stay super firm in the door frame. This one stays in MUCH better than the wooden baby gates that I've always used in the past. Even at their tightest with the little notches that the metal piece fits into I could never get nearly as nice, firm fit as this one has. And actually at first I did have it extended too far and the latch kept sticking really obnoxiously but I unscrewed each side just a few turns on and it works very smoothly now. The gate also comes with an extender to make it up to 7 1/2" longer but I obviously didn't need that and ended up just storing it in the closet in case I ever decide to use it in a different area. The latch is extremely easy to use.....which would be a blessing and a curse for most people using it as a baby gate. It does have a little red "lock" that fits over the latch so that it can't be opened, but I can tell you right now my friend's very smart 2 year old would have this sucker figured out in a matter of minutes. I'm not really sure how you would avoid that though because unlike the baby gates that have the closure that can just be put on the other side, this one is right on top and pretty easily reachable. Fortunately for me, no matter how brilliant they are, my dog's don't have thumbs... ;) The metal of the gate itself seems really heavy duty and sturdy and all of the fittings were really nice quality as well. I imagine this gate is going to hold up for a long time and I actually think it looks more attractive than the standard wooden baby gates too. My dogs are pretty annoyed I've blocked their access but the cats and the rest of the family are all happy not to have to deal with that nasty nonsense anymore. :)

Most of the reviews have already included the specifications, etc., so I won't add to that. Here is my opinion: this works perfectly for what I wanted, which is to keep my two large German Shepherds from coming into my bedroom. Previously they were allowed to but my dog allergies started to flare up badly and the doc recommended that I keep them from sleeping in my room. Also, I was beginning to get worried about falling over one of them when I got up in the middle of the night (and I didn't want to use a motion-detector nightlight since it interferes with my sleep and the dogs kept activating it all night!). My dilemma: I didn't want to close the bedroom door for a variety of reasons including the fact that the dogs have perfected that "hangdog" look when I close the door (and then open it slowly to see what their reaction has been!). This Regalo Easy Step Walk Thru Gate has been perfect. The dogs are relaxed because they can hear and see into the bedroom and I sleep better because I'm not sneezing as much. My allergies have quieted down a bit too. The gate was simple to set up; I had to use the extension that came with it. I only pressure-mounted it because the dogs don't jump up and try to push it in. If they were more active, I would probably have had to use the wall cups. So far I have not needed to take it down since the latch opens and closes so easily. I don't keep it "locked" because there are no little children in the house to open it and the dogs, smart as they are, have not tried to do that either, knock on wood!

Awesome gate. Tall enough to keep my psycho shitzu poodle downstairs and he has been known to kamikaze over any object we put in front of him. Built strong and stays put too. Great value!

A lot of people stated the gate came with a defect but it is because they must not have read the brightly attached paper (see photos). This gate works well and is so much easier to use than my previous gate I would highly recommend it.

Couldn't be more happy with this gate. For the uninformed that keep leaving negative reviews; how about you read the instruction manual instead of jumping to conclusions. It clearly says in the manual and the orange tag hanging on it that it comes from the factory with a gap and when you put the threaded feet in to mount to the wall and adjust them, the gap will disappear! This gate is made of metal and strong. I love the fact that it has an open gate feature so I can leave it set up full time for my dogs and be able to walk through it instead of taking it up and down like the cheap wooden gates. A+

I love this gate so much I went and ordered more after I set this one up. Very easy to set up. Door opens smoothly and stays open until you close it back up. You can choose to lock the latch or not. I don't use the lock since my little walker is only 8 months old and doesn't actually reach the top of the gate. It is nice to have it there for when she does reach it. They height is perfect. The entire gate is strong and sturdy. I love the bars because my baby can still see out of or into the room (depending on what side she's on). My favorite part of course is the door. Other gates have to be completely removed and replaced or you have to climb over and I'm only 5'3, I don't enjoy climbing over anything. The design of those other gates also make it hard for the little ones to get a good view of the other side. When I fence her off in her bedroom while I'm cleaning she can see me and she keeps calm. She enjoys playing with her older brother through the gate as well, they reach through the bars and grab or growl at each other and they both get a kick out of it and I finally have some peace of mind. I wasn't ready for my tiny critter to start walking independently at 8 months old so things had been pretty hectic for a few weeks since I hadn't actually baby proofed anything yet. This gate is definitely a blessing, since my kid loves to be free, she wont stay in a walker, bouncer, activity center, nothing! I can now cook and clean without running into my baby or having her tug on my pants while I do dishes.
