A very handy add-on for your truck! I'm familiar with tools and working on cars, but was a bit apprehensive about the installation regarding having to turn the nut to install the support post, it appeared to be confusing and complicated. It turns out, there was nothing to it. I marked the nut with a drop of paint (do this so you can keep track of how many turns you have made), turned the nut 9 times, done! The rest of the installation is very simple with basic tools. My F150's tailgate lowers and raises easily and smoothly. 100% Recommended.

Absolutely wonderful for many reasons. Functionally it is perfect. I am using it on a 2010 Ford F150 Platinum 5.4 liter. The tailgates on these trucks are extremely heavy. In fact it almost knocked my wife over when she was unprepared. Now you can unlatch it and the tailgate releases easily and lowers slowly and stops gently. I am sure that will prolong the life of the hinges and the camera. Installation was fast did it on my lunch break at work. Instructions were clear and everything you need excerpt for some common hand tools is included with the kit.

I should have done this to my 2009 F150 SCrew Lariat long ago. Instructions were easy to follow. Only mod. I made was at the ball mount plate. I did not want two different metals (causing rust) coming in contact to one another. I put two layers of mylar I had on hand to the truck side of the plate then installed per instructions. I read where some are having a problem installing the blind nut for the ball mount on/at the gate. I did not encounter any difficulty. After installation I opened and closed the gate 20 times and rechecked everything. All was/is good. Love it!

This is a must have for any pickup owner! How many of you have accidentally allowed your tailgate to drop? If you have an old beat up pickup truck, it probably doesn't matter. However, if you have a nice truck and are particular like me, you don't want the tailgate falling. This installed easily and in a matter of minutes and it works exceptionally well! I highly recommend this product and you certainly can't beat the price.

Ok, this is a tale of two things. First, the item is exactly as described and once installed, has worked great. No issues and wish I had bought this sooner. Second, on the installation, the directions getting the blind nut installed did not work for me, and had to youtube it to get it work, as did a lot of other people. But once i figured it out, went on easy and taking away the time I spent figuring out the blind nut install, total install time was about 5 minutes.

Excellent product. Buy the original Dee Zee tailgate assist. Lots of knock offs and you'll be sorry if you saved a few bucks. Installed a DZ-43200 (Ford F-150 2004-2014) on my '06 Ford F-150. About a 15 minute job and they give you great instructions and the T-50 Torx Wrench needed. You can use American Tools for the other wrench and socket not supplied if you don't have Metric. You don't need to buy anything. Wife loves it!!! I think it is great too. If you can't get enough leverage with the T-50 supplied, slip a box end over it and break the cable bolt loose.

I just installed this product on a 2010 Ford F-150 XLT Super Cab in 30 minutes. 10 of those 30 minutes was spent thoroughly reading the install instructions and studying the pictures. Addition tools needed that are not included in the kit: a 5mm allen, a 10mm wrench, a 13mm Wrench, and scissors. Blind nut installation advice: You must first adjust the distance of the blind nut’s center allen bolt top to the inside washer to 3/4 inch, then you can install the blind nut...but remember you must keep the center allen bolt from turning with the 5mm allen wrench while you use the 10mm wrench to tighten the inside nut which expands the blind nut’s back-end inside the tailgate to secure it into place. I cannot attest to the durability of this product since I just installed it; but it works for me as designed. Hope this helps.

Got these from amazon, they came in original box and wrapped in plastic, the plastic was stretched and was a little dirty from a garage. I put some on my truck two months ago and they're without a doubt the best product I've installed. My f150 got these and I honestly wouldn't buy anything else. Please keep in mind I'm aware there's better products available at much higher prices but I'm not a race driver on a closed course, neither is half the folks who run them but that's their money, but for my money I refuse to buy cheap off name brand junk, and draw the line at really high priced stuff that earned their reputation from spending money advertising rather than research, I usually go with mid priced stuff such as these and I found a real gem with these, I'd definitely recommend this to someone!

After I ordered, I read the low rated reviews, and they all talked about how difficult it was to install this product. I almost cancelled my order until I sorted reviews by most recent. The newer reviews all claimed that installation was super easy...and they were RIGHT! DeeZee must have updated their installation instructions and provided new tools. The instructions were clear and I installed this in about 15 minutes. It works great so far! I have a feeling it might get a bit slower in colder temperatures, but I’m ok with that. If it’s a major issue this winter, I’ll update my rating. So for now, no more “Oops”....BAM!! (When the tailgate slips out of my fingers and slams down...). Now I have to get used to NOT having to support the tailgate as it’s coming down... I have a 2013 Ford F-150 XLT, and it fit perfectly, with the instructions tailored to my truck.
