Good price, and yes, it can slice beef! (you just gotta freeze it a bit)
Now unlike a lot of people who bought this product, I used this to make beef jerky that was paper thin instead of vegetables. I put the beef in the freezer for a bit until it was firm, and selected the thinnest setting. A night passed, and I had made my best batch of beef jerky yet! Thin, crispy, but still packed with flavor. (If it isn't apparent I really like beef jerky and this works pretty good for making it thin.)

Does POTATOES, Zucchini, Whole Onions, Cucumbers and More.
I love this product! It DOES do potatoes! I'm low carb high fat so I don't need it for potatoes, but my husband loves them. It works great for julienne on zucchini and yellow squash. And the julienne has a neat effect on a whole round onion as well. When you julienne a squash, understand the first cut will be just the skin, unless you cut that part off with a knife. The little thing is great for cucumbers too! EASY cleanup especially if you have a sprayer nozzle on your sink, the high pressure water makes cleanup in 10 seconds. The three thick and thin cutting levels are fun to play with and make dishes much more desirable. On tall items, like a long zucchini, I feel it is safer to start with your hand without the guard, and as you progress closer to the unit definitely use the HAND GUARD!! Just go at a nice pace and never get in a crazy rush, I hear these things are sharp! *The blade lock after cleaning is a superb idea.

This Gadget works!
I have had it for 8 months and use it to julienne potatoes (not carrots - they are too hard), sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, potatoes, etc. BUT - VERY IMPORTANT - I recommend purchasing the glove blade protectors since the provided food gripper does not work very well and puts undesirable holes in the food. The gloves have protected my hands and allowed me to completely slice or julienne most or all of the food item. I have made the mistake of not using the protection, even with the gripper, and paid for it in blood almost every time.

Perfect Mandoline. No fuss or Hassle.
This is my first mandolin so I'm not expert but this thing is fantastic. I hate a hassle and won't use something if I need to take it apart or wash it by hand, etc. This mandolin is made for those, like me, who love easy and simple gadgets without the fuss while still getting results. Again, it's my first so I can't compare the results but I love thinly slicing watermelon radish and other for garnish and bowls (see picture. I would never be able to cut a radish like that. I cut it thinly length wise after I used the mandoline but it's all done in a matter of a minute). You don't need to remove the blade, you can wash it in the dishwasher and determining thickness is as simple as moving a button to 1,2 or 3. I use it with the gripper and bought the no cry gloves separately (I'm dangerous in the kitchen!). Next to vitamix, this is my favorite kitchen gadget I purchased this year. It's insanely affordable too! I highly recommend.

Cuts really well
I like how it allows me to slice vegetables thinly and easily which is something that is usually a pain due to the counter space in The Cutting Board being extremely small. I didn't like how I cut my finger the first day but that is entirely my fault. I was not having a good day with sharp objects because about 10 minutes prior to that I also cut my finger with a knife. That's why you should use the safety Implement although it doesn't really work well for zucchinis until about the last third so keep that in mind. I haven't tested it on very many things but it works well and the blade doesn't look too hard to replace if I really need to, but it's only $10 so if it lasts me a year I'll be happy.

Surprisingly easy... be careful!
This is very easy to use, but I caution you to slice things slowly. The plastic addition they included to use when slicing stuff isn't easy to use, so I end up using my hands. You can EASILY slice your fingers if you do it too quickly and aren't paying attention to how much veggie you have left. If you DO use the plastic, it's easy for the metal blade to bite into it and carve off a chunk of plastic as well. Otherwise this thing is perfect and does exactly what I need it to! Cleaning it is relatively easy. Since I just use mine with potatoes, I rinse it off as soon as I've finished with it and put it up to dry. If I needed to get off something dry or crusted on there, that would be more difficult as you can't take it apart and clean the blade safely. Lastly, you can store this so the blade is flush and won't cut you by accident. Very nice feature to have.

I love this!
I got this to make my grandmother's German cucumber salad. I love that it has three thicknesses plus a closed position that prevents you from cutting yourself on the very sharp blade. It cuts my cucumbers perfectly, easily, and safely. It also works well for other things I've sliced like onions, tomatoes, apples... actually, given how easy it is to use, I keep looking for things to slice.... Clean-up with hot soapy water is quick and easy. I am so glad I got this and think it is definitely worth it.

Really sharp slicer!
This slicer/mandoline is amazingly sharp. I love that it has different thicknesses, that makes it very versatile. At thickness 1, I shred cabbage for slaw, at 2 apples for pie or cucumbers for salad, at 3 potatoes for Spanish tortilla ... and I could go on and on. Saves a lot of time if you need to cut large batches of fruit and vegetables. You've got to be really careful though, it can easily slice off a piece of your finger or nail if you don't use the guard!

Like a Grater, but for Slicing!
This kitchen tool is wonderful for slicing cheese and meats. I am a terrible meat and cheese slicer, but this made my slices all equal and straight lengths. I no longer look incompetent at parties when I bring the meat and cheese tray. It also takes me less time to cut things because I am not worried about cutting it the exact size as other pieces. My only complaint is that the slicer cuts things at an oblique, so at the end of my sausage or cheese, I have one that is oblique. Watch out for your fingers being sliced! I was very conscious of making sure that I did not get my finger in between the food and the blade, so I hope you do the same as well!

Just buy it- you know you've always wanted one! Great bargain at the price
Always wanted one of these but they were either too pricey or I just couldn't pull the trigger and spend money when I can dice an onion just as well with one of the many expensive chef's knives I own. But I went for it - bought a "gadget" - well, these things have been around forever and for good reason. Unless you've got Ramsay skills, you need one of these. Makes short work of an onion - like seconds. Takes longer to rinse - wash - rinse and dry than it does to cut up say 3 large sweet onions. Slices up tomatoes likity-split. Do yourself a favor and spend the what $15 buckscheap on one of these. Oh and by the way, prepping to cook is one of the joys of the process get that right - but having good tools to do the job is essential. This is an essential tool! Highly recommend!
