Oh So Good!

I discovered Tortuga Cakes on my very first cruise to the Caribbean. They had small ones on the ship in the original golden flavor. It was rum, it was cake, it was duty free so the cost was cheap – I had to try it. SO glad I did. Rich, buttery and yes it has rum. Raises arms straight in the air, palms facing each other "And it's good!" It was so good; I bought about a dozen more to enjoy on the ship and to bring home. Unfortunately, back then the only way to get these was to visit the Caribbean. Any time I knew a friend or colleague was heading in that direction, I gave them money to bring back a couple. Then a few years ago on a hunch I Googled it, and angels we have heard on high YES!!!, I could order them online! Obviously they were not as inexpensive as getting them duty-free, but still, a good price for what they are. And let's face it is considerably cheaper than paying for a cruise to get it when my little heart desires the deliciousness. Do not give these to young children, these are rum cakes after all. Overindulge and you may start feeling good from more than just the wonderful flavors. Besides the little darlings simply would not be able to appreciate it and you won't want to share it with them anyway. Every time I give the small cake as gift to someone, they become as hooked as I have been for nearly fifteen years and counting. The original golden remains my favorite of the flavors, but holy *bleeeep* the chocolate, is light a cigarette good. The other flavors are so delish as well. Unless there is a flavor you personally are not fond of, you cannot go wrong with any of these cakes.

So, I stumbled upon the Tortuga Rum cakes while shopping in my local Kitchen Store. I bought a small one as a stocking stuffer for my husband on Christmas and he loved it so much, he asks for the Rum cake every year!! Last year my Kitchen Store closed so I had to start ordering them off of Amazon. I was so surprised that they made different flavors!!! We all love them and I will continue to buy them!! They are moist and flavorful and I totally recommend them, you won't be sorry!!!

Fresh and moist

I bought these because they were an Amazon Lightning Deal and I remember my family liked these from our previous cruise. Well, these were better than what was sold on the cruise ship! More moist and delicious, we all ended up eating one each. And that's saying a lot because our previous experience was 1 for 4 people. Now we couldn't get enough of these rum cakes! 2 weeks later all 6 were gone because they tasted so fresh and moist. Would absolutely buy from amazon again, but would skip these on a cruise ship.

All Flavors Great, Long Lasting

These are awesome. We liked all six flavors, including key lime, which is the weird one of the bunch. Originally I thought we would eat one or two of them and leave the others as gifts. The cakes all had expiration dates on them a year in the future, so it is a good "throw down" gift. And also, who doesn't like cake? They are small enough to eat alone (though high calorie!) and even better if you share them with someone over a coffee. The inside of each individual box has eating instructions, such as serve warm, serve with fruit, and serve with ice cream. We will definitely buy more, both for ourselves, and as gifts, probably at Christmas. I highly recommend these cakes to anyone who likes rum cakes or needs to stack their gift closet. I enjoy writing product reviews since I base so many of my purchases off of the reviews of other shoppers and hope my review was helpful to you in your purchase decision.

Worst purchase ever

I will never purchase this product again. I started out with a single cake that I planned to share. Before I knew what was happening the whole thing was gone. The same thing happend with the second, then the third, etc. It's not possible to have just a piece, or just a single cake. You WILL be stricken by guilt as you take the last bite. You WILL spend hours in the gym as penance for your transgressions. I can no longer put myself through this and will simply refrain from purchasing this product in the future.

Tortuga Original Rum Cakes

Purchased as gifts... there were well received. To be fair, I also sampled one of the them - it was very moist, very "rummy" tasting. The cakes are small.. something on the range of a large cupcake... but that is what I was looking for. The boxes themselves lend well to gift giving - I added a gold ribbon bow and tag. Perfect for my use. Hope this info was useful to you in making your decision as that is my whole reason for writing my unbiased, uncompensated reviews!

A taste of the Caymans

Ever since diving on Grand Cayman, these have been something of an obsession. Rum cakes are a Caribbean staple and these are probably the top brand. So moist, so delicious. The only flavor I'm not big on is Coffee, as I'm not a coffee drinker either it's just not my favorite. But these always arrive in perfect condition with a pretty box that would make for a nice gift. The individual cake boxes are nice and the plastic bags the cakes come in keep them in perfect condition. I've ordered these several times and never had any cake not arrive perfect and begging to be eaten. A bite of these takes me right back to the beach.

Moist, Delicious Cakes! Arrived Quickly.

We travel the Caribbean regularly and always head for Tortuga Rum Cakes. We discovered Tortuga Rum Cakes at a bakery in Nassau which caught our attention a block over by the wonderful smell and have been hooked since. I was a little concerned after reading online reviews about the freshness of these cakes. I decided to give a shot and couldn't be happier. It allows us to have this wonderful taste of the Caribbean without having to travel! These cakes arrived quickly, were packaged well which sealed in the freshness of the cakes. They were moist, and fresh tasting! Will be ordering again from this seller!

Yummy

So yummy and the perfect size for an individual dessert or to share with one other person. One of these heated up in the microwave for a little bit with a scoop of ice cream made for a really pretty and special Christmas eve dessert. Since the box comes with a variety of flavors my guest could choose which one they wanted.
