Love this toy! Love Melissa & Doug!

I purchased this toy from Amazon. Even though it came shrink-wrapped, not all of the magnets were included. I thought it was odd that there were no magnets within some of the door. It wasn't until I turned the board over that I realized we really didn't received everything we should have. I called the Melissa & Doug number on the back of the board and they were great. It doesn't appear to be a call center. You talk to a really person. I called after hours and left a voicemail and they actually called me back! They sent me a replacement toy with ALL of the magnets. My 1-year-old loves this toy. She loves opening the doors and taking the magnets out. It also gives us the opportunity to talk about animals and noises. Would definitely recommend!

Melissa & Doug Toys Are Top Quality

The ONLY problem that I have had with this gift was that the kids lost all the pieces in such a short time. When they did have all the pieces, they loved playing with it and I loved the quality. Melissa & Doug make the best toys! While I think it should go without saying, please watch your kids when they're playing with this. It may not look like they can swallow one of the pieces, but kids are crafty.

Seems like a very well-made good toy

Seems like a very well-made good toy. The thing I like about magnets inside is that my 22-month old likes to throw everything out and then see where things fit, so stuff gets lost and his attention goes elsewhere. Now with this thing, he turned it upside down, but nothing fell out, so he had to take the time to open one door at a time and really pay attention. We even played it like a memory game. I asked him who is behind this door? And he would make a cow noise guessing it was a cow. Or I would ask where is the cat, and he would go looking behind the doors. The puzzles usually have pictures behind each piece identical to the puzzle piece, but what I like here is that there is just background picture, so you can actually switch some animals around. Encourages imagination. My boy tried to fit 2 together. Didnt allow for the door to shut, but it was a cute idea :)

Fabulous teaching toy!

FUN WAY TO USE THIS TOY WHEN YOU'RE BUSY MAKING DINNER AND THE BABY IS DRIVING YOU CRAZY:(this works for babies old enough to feed themselves Cheerios) Put baby in high chair Open each puzzle door and put a little "puff" or a Cheerios behind it and close the door Place in front of child on high chair tray The baby will enjoy this at least until she or he eats all the Cheerios or "puffs" and then you can refill it. My grandson will play with this for about 15 minutes before he gets bored. Really well made like all of their toys.

Great - but I got it too young

This is a great toy. My daughter got it for Christmas/her first birthday, and she loved it immediately (though not necessarily for its intended purpose). The problem was that every magnet went into her mouth - and some of them are small enough to choke on. So we put it up for a few months. Now it is about six months later, and we get it down occasionally. She really likes opening the doors and moving the animals around, and she can make their noises and put them back where they go. She will entertain herself with this for a good length of time. But she has to be monitored closely when using it, because she still puts the magnets into her mouth. And when she does, play time is over. I think in the next few months this toy will be even better (though some of the animals are already ruined from spending so much time in her mouth).

Cute

My one year old and 2 year old love this. And the animals are magnetic. They like to stick them on the refrigerator too. My one year old has chewed them up to where the sticker is coming off though. Otherwise they enjoyed opening and shutting the flaps and moving the animals around

This farm puzzle has been fantastic! As a speech therapist, I use this puzzle daily with many different kids. I've used it daily for several months now and it has held up very well. Some of the kids I work with have difficulty staying focused for long on a task or toy. They have all loved this puzzle and enjoy opening/closing the doors. It's been great to pratice animal sounds and vocabulary, following instructions (put in/take out/open/close), and just for fun as an engaging toy. I felt compelled to leave this review because this item has been so helpful for my therapy. Highly recommend! :)

Best education entertainment for a young child!

I am amazed how much my 14 month loves this puzzle. We play a game where he has to remember which doors still have the magnet pieces left and which ones he's already found. The doors have notches so it's easy for his finger to open and he loves the animals hidden behind each door. These are the types of toys that don't get donated after a week. It is easy to store and very entertaining. I love watching my son's little mind work hard as he plays with this. I am keeping this on my list to buy for all his buddy's birthdays.

Two year LOVES this toy!

After reading the reviews.. I bought this toy for my daughter for her second birthday. I had absolutely no idea she would fall in love with this toy.. my goodness, she LOVES it! Two months later, she plays with it every single day. She has mastered all the pieces.. educational value is through the roof. She knows exactly what all the pieces are and the corresponding sound to the animals.. and she knows where to put all the pieces once they are all out. She loves lifting up the flap and seeing all the animals. One thing I want to note. This toy only gets a 4 star for durability b/c the magnetic pieces are wood with a paper picture on top - my daughter put one of the pieces in her mouth, and the paper has torn. I do wish the pictures of the animals, plan, farmer, etc. were painted on instead. So dont let your child put the pieces in their mouth! Overall, highly recommend this toy.. do not listen to the "recommended age" for this toy - my 2 year old daughter loves it, perfect age for her.. and very educational regarding building up memory skills of where everything goes. By far one of the best toys we have for her.

High quality busy activity

Purchased this for my two year old daughter. I was concerned she would rip the doors off the tiny hinges but so far so good. Seems to be really sturdy and high quality. However two or three of the little doors do have slightly rough edges on one side. If you're super concerned about splinters you may want to check it over with a piece of fine grit sandpaper first... I also completely missed that it comes with removable wood animal magnets that are hiding behind the doors so... Bonus?
