I almost didn't buy this because there was no cutter on the box. Stupid, I know, but we need things to be simple in our house and that was almost a deal-breaker! I'm so glad I picked it up anyway. It's awesome parchment paper! We had previously bought the white stuff, so I wasn't sure how this would be different. It seems a little thinner, which I actually like. It's easier to lay flat compared to my old stuff - less "paper" like. So far, I made a sheet of baked turkey bacon on it, and also baked some fish. The turkey bacon was impressive - not a drop leaked through to the sheet pan underneath. It did bleed through a bit with the fish, but I had more oil and liquid on those. Either way, this made clean-up a breeze! I think I've found my new go-to parchment paper. The lack of a cutter ended up being a non-issue. Pull the paper out, press down on the lid to clamp it to the place where there is normally a cutter and pull. It tears so easily and very cleanly! No scary, metal cutter needed!
I've been using this parchment paper for years. It's the perfect parchment paper for me. I understand it may not be so for some people as everyone is different but I do not get the review saying that it was just 3 inches long. Anyways, I need to back up my 5 star rating. :) I'm baking very often as I prefer to buy as little packaged foods as possible. Cookies, pastries, cakes, macaroons, croissants, pies, etc. require parchment and this one is my secret weapon is non-stick performance. Yes, the box is flimsy, yes, I'm cutting parchment with the scissors, but it doesn't make the product itself bad. Better yet, I'm reusing it in some cases, like when I'm making Napoleon cake, I'm rolling my 10 layers on only 2 pieces of parchment, so I'm using each piece 5 times! Same is true for cookies, croissants, parmesan laces, and other goodies. I'm also using this parchment to wrap homemade charcuterie, line pans when roasting poultry/meat/vegetables, cooking meals in a parchment envelopes...
Okay, confession: I really want to hate a product called "If You Care, " even though I care, because... ewww. So sanctimonious. With that caveat out of the way, this is the best parchment paper out there. I use a lot of parchment in the kitchen, and this is the only one that never fails me. Nothing sticks to it, and it can stand up to a 550° oven long enough for my pizza dough to set on the stone or steel. Great stuff.
I don't want to love this parchment paper but I do. The name is such a turn off, I feel like it's sitting there on the shelf silently judging me when I grab the on-sale Reynolds brand. After trying it once from a local store I was hooked. I feel like it lasts forever, I like that I can cleanly cut it to whatever size I need, and it's great for roasting veggies/meat at high temperatures.
It doesn't break while baking bread at 450 F. I reuse it several times until it starts to break apart. I used to fold the cut piece crosswise in both directions to stop the paper from rolling/to stay flat before weighing it down with dough but I found out that this paper breaks at the fold. I'm happy with the purchase as it comes to my door and I don't need to go shopping.
As a cancer survivor I am VERY consciencious of chemicals that go into my food. Therefore, I choose parchment paper instead of aluminum foil when cooking and baking. It is further important to use UNBLEACHED parchment so as to not have toxins released into the organic and clean foods I prepare. This is definitely my go-to brand for parchment paper. High quality from a company who not only provides a great product, but also cares about our planet. All the more reason to support their mission!
The only Parchment paper I will use!! Let me elaborate: Rolling out the perfect pie dough, and enabling flawless transfer to pie pan - check, lining cookie sheets - check, cutting into squares and stuffing into muffin pans for "fancy & trendy" muffin cups - check, lining cake pans with perfect-not-a-crumb-lost results - check, lining tiny loaf pans - check, lining large baguette pans - check, lining & releasing ooey-gooey brownies from the pan - check, using in place of corn meal and a pizza peel for amazing brick oven pizza* - check, folding into see-through heirloom seed envelopes - check, tracing paper for sewing patterns and projects - check, toilet paper alternative - haha, kidding, but this stuff is seriously amazing and has so many uses! If you are a baker or aspire to be, this, If You Care FSC Certified Parchment Baking Paper, will up your game immediately. It has performed at or above my expectations for every task I've put it to. In my days as a farmers market vendor, it was an absolute godsend! My kitchen will never be without it...definitely can't say the same for the bleached white, thick as construction paper, always tearing while in use - but never tearing off the dang roll, huge roll of junk, being sold by "big W named baking supply company" - that stuff is a complete waste and not worth the cabinet space to store it. Back to the perfect parchment...*I mentioned I use it for brick-oven pizza, and I do realize it says right on the box that it is "oven safe to 428*F/220*C" and here I am using it in a 500*F oven on a brick pizza stone, but I'm telling you, it works so perfectly and after the typical 6-7 minutes to fully cook the pizza, the edges of the parchment are only just slightly blackened....that said, you should use some common sense (and of course set a timer!) it is thin paper in a really hot oven and could potentially catch fire - BUT in years of using it (somewhat) responsibly, I have never had that happen ;) If You Care...I know I do, so I really love that it's unbleached, love that it's not too thick - and not too thin, love the recycled packaging, love that it is compostable, love that the paper used is harvested for FSC certified forests....I could go on, but really, I've given more than enough reasons for you to add this to your cart NOW and have Amazon drop it at your door by the end of the week! Happy Baking!! Also, check out If You Care Unbleached Muffin liners - another kitchen must have!!
this natural colored parchment has a crisp texture, making it easy to crease and tear off the metal free package. there is also no center cardboard tube, that package is full of parchment only. if you look at price per square foot, this is one of the better bargains on the market
I just recently got into baking sourdough bread and needed some parchment paper which can hold up to high heat in my Dutch oven. Read the reviews here and my experience mirrors all of the good reviews. I baked with it twice so far inside a 450 degree Dutch oven. This paper did not catch on fire and held up well. I was able to lift both big boules of bread out of the Dutch oven with the edges of the paper and it did not break.
I do feel like this product judges me if i reach for another product. Like if you care you’d reach for me and not that plastic bag... but it is my normal go to. I really never used parchment much until this year and now I use it for everything. Because I do care and I try to avoid aluminum. I tried other parchment but this is my favorite, I’ve bought other products by them now as well.
