got this as a gift for my nephew, he loved it. Caution though, there are tiny worms in the kit that i suppose could be swallowed. He seemed okay with them and he's 3.

Just like Daddy! This little set is great for the kid who wants to be just like daddy and go fishing! My husband is a fisherman and all of the boys like to follow him around. This little set gives them a chance to look like daddy and big brother and to pretend to fish. It even has little fish, worms, and a net! We love that everything fits inside the tackle box to put away.

I do not know many preschoolers that do not like to pretend to fish. This set is prefect! A reel that really works. Fish that float in the water, and you can catch with the reel. A cool looking vest. I must say, er, type, the cutest worms ever! And so much more is included. This is a STRONG set. I really feel like this toy set will be around for a long time. I like that everything is stored in the tackle box. Excellent for your child's imagination. I recently purchased another set for a child's birthday party we are attending this weekend.

I bought this set for my 2 year old grandson. He is now 7 and has a 4 year old sister. They get this set out almost every week when they visit. They love the fish and the worms. They make a "boat" of a blanket and fish off the edge. If they don't feel like fishing they will just incorperate the critters into whatever make believe they are doing. Money well spent.

This is the best fishing toy set out there. There are three fish of varying sizes that have magnets imbedded in their mouths...three worms...and a fishing pole (which is not very big...fits my four year old quite well though) with a retracting line. And that line is well constructed...where all others will break with ease...this one is constructed well and built to last even after rough play. This is the most appealing feature of this set. The tackle box holds a good deal and the net is a nice addition to the set. The vest fits my four year old well but would never fit my seven year old. We use this mostly in a kiddie pool or the community pool...but it would certainly work in the bathtub too.

Purchased this set as a last minute Christmas gift for my 3 (very nearly 4) year old. He absolutely LOVES it! I really love how it covers so many educational areas. Math, active play, role play, writing/pre-writing, hand-eye coordination -- everything you could want all rolled up in one convenient carrying case! Only con: We've had to put up the 3 worms because baby brother (8 months) has taken to putting them in his mouth. This is of no fault to the product, just a note for anyone with babies in the house.

My son has had this since Christmas 2015 . Hes almost 3 (30lbs) and loves having me put the vest on him (still lots of room) and he plays with it all the time. (He still cant figure out the little snaps, but its not a cheap vest). Hes figured out the magnetic fish (it took a while and lots of cheating) and the net is holding strong. We are currently about to use the tackle box as a treasure chest for his third birthday. (The hinges are good after daily use.) Im debating giving this as a birthday gift for nephew. He can be very hard on his toys (think using the tackle box as a step stool and throwing the fish across the room). Still looks in good / almost new condition. If he cant break it- youre probably safe. I highly recommend! P.s. his dad takes him fishing - (he just runs around around and throw sticks in the water) but he has connected it with this toy and it probably adds to its daily use.

Best age: Toddler (purchased for 3 year old, perfect age for use) Pros: Complete kit - comes with "tackle" box, vest, activity book (geared for closer to Kindergarten age), rod (large, made for children's hands), three fish (small, medium, large), three worms (small, medium, large - they slip on the hook above the magnet and may slightly interfere with snagging a fish), and a net. Cons: Would be nice if it came with more fish. The tackle box doesn't have a latch and ours doesn't actually click closed - so if we go to lift it by the handle, the contents dump out. It is a pity it was poorly designed in that regard, but I'm still glad I chose this set over some of the others I had seen offered online. My three year old has already logged quite a few hours with this toy and it doesn't show any signs of wear yet. I was able to get the rod to cast, but it took a lot of force and didn't really work well - so we pull out the line and then "catch" the fish and reel them in. The reel is simple enough for my toddler to use. I DO NOT think this toy is meant to go in the water, we have not tried - but I wouldn't advise it. Would I recommend: YES! Fun toy, worth about $20.

This is an awesome little fishing kit. My boys love playing with it (we purchased two so they each had their own fishing pole) and we play games with colors and size. It definitely helps with fine motor skills because you have to be really "on point" when trying to get the hook into the fishes mouth. The vest is great, tons of pockets, but the buckles are really hard to unbuckle for a toddler. Heck, I have a hard time getting it unbuckled and keep meaning to change it to velcro. That would be a better alternative to the buckles and really is the only major downside to the kit. The worms are not magnetic, which is also a bummer, but I've actually put them away because they are small and my youngest still likes to put stuff in his mouth.

I love this cute set! I have bought it for my kids and a couple times since for Bday gifts. I keep coming back to this set, as it is adorable on, kids love it, it is a little different than the gifts you often see kids get - it is just that cute. It always comes in a plain brown box, with the little fishing box (with all times in it) in plastic packaging - so be ready to get a gift bag or gift box for it. I would not buy for anyone over 3 - while cute looking the fishing pole has a magnet that catches the little fish off the ground - so it is more of a great looking but not too much activity set. That said, perhaps an older child could enjoy it for the "dress up" aspect.
