my review is based on the price
My view of these discs reflects the rest of the 5-star reviews on the site.. they work fine for me and out of 3 spindles i've yet to face a bad disc.. that's about all you can say about discs, unless you get into the speed of them, which I haven't bothered with or have needed to worry about.. What I wanted to write about is the incredible fluctuation in price these things face throughout the year.. my first set a few years ago was around $18, which is a good price, and still the lowest you'll find for 100 discs here.. but then they jumped to $23 and even $26 at one point for a few months last year prior to December, which makes you want to go out and buy the Verbatim discs for about the same price (if you can get them from Japan and not the cheap countries they also make them in).. i mean what's the deal in buying 'generic' if you can get name brand for the same price? so i held off and just added these Amazon discs to my cart, knowing that if the price changed, I would know simply upon entering my cart next time.. and they did. In November they were $26 before going out of stock for a month.. and mid December they were back in and listed for only $14.99, so I bought some. But then they reduced further down to only $11.22, which is incredible for 100 blank discs.. However now, as of today, they're back up to $24.99. So this is a good item to keep in your cart so you can jump on the sales when they do mark them down throughout the year.. and based on the prices I listed, you can decide when to buy..

Amazon's no frills CD's
I have to agree with most others here about the good quality and overall appearance of Amazon's no frills CD's , they look nice and perform perfectly. I too was surprised to learn about their product line. I have been burning CD's and DVD's since they first came out with the burners and have owned the"big name brands" to the plain wrapped "OEM" versions of both burners and media. I am not going to go into a long drawn out review of each one , I only want to say the best burners can have issues burning the best CD's - DVD's and if you are constantly ending up with coasters / toast and Frisbee s 10 to one it's your burner and software combination. Building custom computers gives me the opportunity to "road test" the projects before letting them go out the door so I have had first hand experience burning brand name media on what was considered a top of the line burner only to find out the burner was to blame. Sometimes more bells and whistles do not make a better product , they only give more opportunity for errors and burning at the data rates these do it does not take much to ruin a project. We all have our own ideas and opinions on what is the best , I will only say that for me SATA DVD burners and SATA hard drives work really well with Multi-Core processors having Maximum Memory , regardless of who made it. Multiple SATA hard drives are even better. (key word SATA not IDE) Since my "n-no name - lite" SATA-DVD combo writer continues to perform flawlessly with Amazon's bargain priced CD's I am now looking for Amazon's DVD's and I imagine they will be another bargain. I almost passed on these after reading one comment about these being thin , well what-ever . . . it does not mean they are of a lesser quality or strength. My results after burning approximately 25 so far have been 100%. I would recommend them to anyone. I also like the branding (keep it up Amazon ) looking forward to more of them. Don F

Great price at time of review
This review is for the DVD+R spindle. I purchased 2 of these at a discount (14.26) and then one again at 12.90. Anyway, so far these discs seem to be as good as others that I use (RiData, Verbatim, TDK). The ID listed in ImgBurn is AML-003-00. I'm using a Sony Optiarc AD-7280S 1.01 disc drive and burning at 16x (and these did burn at 16x unlike the older that I bought a few years back, but I was also using a different drive then). The discs have the same image and come in the same spindle, but the logo is etched (like most brands) rather than printed on in black like in the picture (yaaahhhh!!!). I will use these for multi-program video discs. I will update later with any issues. Just wanted to give some info for people thinking about ordering these. UPDATE: Purchased 2 more at 11.98! And is lower now on December 30,2012. Insane! These should last me for a good while. I average out at 13 cents per disc overall. Not bad at all. The few discs I've burned have played without issue so far. Works with ASUS DRW-24B1STa 1.04 at 16x, as well. I would probably opt for one of the other brands I listed if these were regular price, but for the price I paid, best deal ever. UPDATE: New Lite-On IHAS124 D (firmware states 8L08) drive burns these at 16x, and 12, 8, and 6x (no 4x). Pioneer 110D recognizes them only at 4x (old drive that no longer burns anyway). Discs are good so far. Several Linux Distros and DVD Video discs play perfect.

Better than Brand Names
For the past 18 years I go through about 200-400 DVDs a year for backing up files. Same old story you burn a few, then one is bad. You have to redo one....There is always multiple in a batch that are bad. It is just the way it was. I have always used brand named DVDs as after all this was for backing up files. I trusted the brand. Came across Amazon Basics DVD and they were too good of a deal to not at least try. I will admit I knew nothing about Amazon Basics. Had no idea if it was an inferior product, etc... I was very skeptical. For the first time since using these DVDs I think out of 400 DVDs I have used so far, maybe 1 or 2 were bad. That is a huge difference. I was pleasantly surprised that Amazon Basics makes a quality product. It has only been 1-1/2 years using this product so I cannot contest to the long life or durability of the product as the other brands I can as I have discs from 10-15 years ago still working. But, it appears there should be no issue. The data comes off of the DVDs quicker than the other brands, so really it is a A+ product all the way around and I have to admit I am sold on Amazon Basics. No more looking for deals with other brands, this is my go to product. I have absolutely no reason to question the quality of this product.

Good Product and Great Price
At first I was hesitant because of some poor reviews but I have prepared dozens of videos on these disks. Not a single problem and they seem to handle the transfers perfectly. Overall these were a good product and a great price.

They are packaged a lot better as the paper lining around the outside stays there ...
i was wondering if these would match the quality of the dvds I have used in the past. Well, I am here to say yes they did and more. They are packaged a lot better as the paper lining around the outside stays there and helps support that huge stack of dvds. Then it even instructs you to update your player if need be which I have never seen advised on any of the other products. Good for you amazon. Then after they are done recording without a hitch you find that they have put lines down at the bottom for you to title the dvd. Wonder upon wonder that someone finally thought of that. Now my titles don't look all looney and are straight and you can actually read them. Yahoo. I like the little improvements that they have made on these. Shows me that they put a lot of thought into making these for those of us who use them.

Burned one video disk, went quick and played first time on a DVD player
I had a need to convert a VHS tape to DVD for someone I know, and was out of blank DVD's (except for DVD+RW discs which do not play too well on some DVD players). I did the conversion before these discs arrived, and prepared the ISO image file (with Adobe Encore) in advance of receipt of this shipment -- and when I received the package, I burned the ISO to DVD and not much more than 10 minutes or so later I had it tested playing on a DVD player hooked up to a TV.

What a great company to deal with!
First: Amazon has always treated me very well! I got a message CANNOT RECORD ON this DVD. I called Amazon and they sent me a 100 DVD REPLACEMENT FREE! A second time I got this message. This happened when I tried to copy from a Sanyo VCR to the the Amazon DVD using the Magnavox MWR 20V6 DVD recorder . I put the same VCR tape in a Mitsubishi VCR and tried copying again and it worked! Bottom Line: The Amazon DVDS were fine. I cannot explain why the machine used to play the VCR tape was important, but it was. You cannot beat Amazon's customer Service! CELL PHONE BATTERIES: If a cell phone battery does not list the lithium content in (Watt-hour rating), or the total aggregate litium content they are illegal to be sent by a seller or returned to the seller. This information must be stated on the battery or on documentation supplied by the seller. The USPS refused to accept my small LGTL-C1500 BATTERY BECAUSE THIS INFORMATION WAS NOT ON THE BATTERY OR SUPPLIED DOCUMENTION. This is referenced in DOT's hazardous materials regulation at 49 CFR 171.7

Great Value
There is not much to be said about blank DVDs. They either work well, or not at all. In my experience, the Amazon Basics DVDs work just fine. I typically write to a high capacity (above 90 percent) and have not had any issues. I can burn at 16x, also with no issues. The quality of video is the same as with more expensive brands of DVDs. I have not witnessed any degradation of data over time, and have virtually no issues with these. One time, out of about two hundred DVDs used, I had one DVD that could not be recognized. There were no issues I could see visually, such as scratches or blemishes. Two different computers would not recognize the DVD as blank or containing information. It was just, dead. A half percent failure rate is acceptable for something value priced. And that is where these stand out. The value is incredible. It is hard to justify paying more for a name brand that does not offer any improvement. I recommend the Amazon Basics blank DVDs to everyone who is looking at purchasing them.

Affordable and Reliable (so far)
I was a bit skeptical at first. It has been a long time (years) since I had to buy DVD's and wasnt sure what brand to go with. I didnt want to spend alot but also wanted reliable disks. These seemed to be decently rated and old staples like Verbatim did not seem to have the reputation they once had. I generally use these as throw away 1-2 time use kind of deal. Burn a Windows OS disk, install, toss disk. I rebuilt the in-laws machine yesterday and burnt a Win 10 Pro disk without issue. Install went smooth. It will likely be years before I go through a 100 disks if I ever do, but so far I am happy with my choice.
