Tried off brand bags, always had a falure rate of at least 50%, bit with the foodsaver brand its less than 5%. No more searching out that steak in the bottom of the freezer only to be disappointed by freezer burn. I also pre season food for my sous vi and freeze. Always works great.

I use my Food Saver often. It comes in handy when I purchase meat and veggies on sale in bulk, and I repackage them into smaller portions to freeze. We save so much money doing our grocery shopping that way. The bags are a little expensive, but there is less waste once you get used to exactly how much space you need for each bag.

We watch the sales, particularly for meat, and when it is on sale we really stock up. Then we divide it into portions suitable for the two of us and bag it using these bags (in different sizes) and our suck and seal appliance. We can leave it in the freezer for a year or more and no freezer burn. We save a LOT of money shopping this way. Case in point? London broils, usually about 7.99 a pound for USDA choice, was on sale for $1.99 a pound. We bought 50 pounds for $100, and saved $300.

I've tried some of the OEM bags because they cost less but found them to be stiff and not vacuum very well. The Food Saver brand are more flexible and vacuum more completely yet still strong. Definitely worth the extra cost.

I love my Foodsaver. It has revitalized cooking for me - because I can keep frozen steaks and chicken breasts in single serving packs, thaw in a dish of water quickly, cut open and cook. So easy. These bags are made by Foodsaver and work very well with my machine. I have bought off-brand before, and they were too thick. So are the "heavy duty" bags. They aren't as versatile if you want to cut them smaller to save the roll. These work well when you make a smaller sized bag to seal up for one chicken breast. The roll is most economical, and the value was great on Amazon in comparison to stores.

When the bags showed up, I felt like I had probably misjudged and they'd be slightly too small, but they're actually perfect for most of the sous vide and freezer storage I do (I only cook for myself and my spouse). Unless you make monster steaks, this is a pretty good width so you don't feel like you're wasting a lot of material. I even fit tritip in here, although sometimes I have to cut some off and put it at the end of the bag to get it in there. But if you're doing sizeable roasts, you're going to want to go bigger.

We have owned a foodSaver sealer product for quite a number of years (1st one bought in the '70's). We are now on # 3, only because we keep upgrading and pass on our older units to other happy friends. Now, on to the sealing rolls!!! The size of choice for us is mostly the 8 inch wide roll (20 feet long), which is usually perfect for one or two pieces of meats: steaks, chops, chicken pieces, and etc. (We sometimes use the 12 inch wide for roasts, whole chicken, etc.) We also freeze our own veggies, fruits, and the 8 inch size, again, is just right.....the roll can be cut to any length size bag, and the material is clear so you can see the food, or anything else you wish to seal. The sealed bags keep the air out, which means fresher food (no freezer-burn), and can go into the microwave, or boiled. The manufacturer says that you can re-use the bags, but mostly we don't bother (I know, waste of money). What we freeze has such a long life compared to regular freezer-wrap/freezer ziplock bags, that we are more than pleased with the results! We have never used anything but the FoodSaver products/bags so we can not do any sort of comparison with a different brand, but we do think that this brand is far superior than anything else. Love our FoodSaver!

These are great for freezing food for every day use. My husband also freezes the fish he catches in Canada to bring home. Keeps the food fresher in the freezer for longer periods than regular zip-top storage bags. The rolls allow you to make any size bag you need. Will definitely buy again.

I really like the pre-made bags. You can just pull them out and bam you're ready to go. I have never bought any before I always had the rolls. But now that I've used these it's hard to go back to making my own. Even though it's very easy to do. I love everything food saver.

Aside from the fact that I have to purchase special product to use my heat sealer, I'm satisfied with the quality of this product. Actually, the rolls usually outlast the food saver. I'm now on my third sealer and, after purchasing an expensive sealer in the past, I now purchase inexpensive units.
