My boyfriend has this hideous black down vest that I hate. His dog bit into it and cast feathers everywhere. I hoped it was the end of the ugly vest until he pleaded with me to "fix" the big chewed dog hole in his vest. The hole was about 2" long and i tried to sew it. No such luck, there were still feathers everywhere coming through. I purchased a traditional patch, but it needed to be melted on and the material of the vest was nylon, so there is no way it was going to work (would have melted the origional material.) I came across this Gear Aid GORE-TEX Fabric Repair Kit. It was my last attempt to fix this vest. Well, it worked PERFECTLY. I attached it right over my poor sewing job and then put it in a low heat dryer the next day (for about 20 min). My boyfriend was so impressed with the repair, he couldn't even FIND the repair at first. This is a wonderfully strong product that I WILL buy again if I ever get a tear in a down jacket, sleeping bag, tent, or similar structure. The item worked as specified and made for a very clean repair. My only problem now is that my boyfriend is back to wearing this hideous vest all the time....at least now there are not feathers falling out of it. :) **note: if you wanted to use this patch for a tent (or similar thin material) you would probably be best to patch both sides of the fabric. This would eliminate the sticky residue on the inside of the patch. You could set it with a low heat hair-dryer or sit in the sun for a day. It would make a great "on-the go" patch for avid hikers/campers since it is self-adhesive.

My Gore-Tex bivy sack had a couple holes, the largest a tear just over 2" long and a couple other smaller holes (see photo). I purchased two of these kits. For the large hole I put the 3" round patch on the inside, both for strength and so I wouldn't have exposed adhesive on the inside of the bivy (plus, I'm a bit of a 'belt and suspenders' type of person). I then put a rectangular patch over the large hole and used a single patch to cover the two smaller holes. The adhesive seemed to hold the patches very well, and I'd be comfortable making a field repair and using it at this point. Since I was home, per the instructions, I used an iron set on medium heat to further set the adhesive (I put a piece of parchment paper between the patch and iron so I wouldn't get adhesive on the iron.) The patches seem to be very well bonded to the material and are quite flexible so I don't expect any issues, but I will update this review if I have any.

I have a Frog Toggs classic fabric rain jacket. Last camping trip I reached over a lantern, and the sleeve melted (see pic). It was about a 2-3 inch hole. I ordered a couple of these kits, and they worked great (so far). It's basically a sticker where you peel off the back paper and apply. I bought enough to do the inside of the hole as well, otherwise the inside of the sticker will stick to your arm, clothes, or whatever is on the other side. But your application may be different. I went over it with an iron, and I think that's the key to a good bond, almost fusing it to the surface. It seems to work well. I'm taking it out to the field in a couple weeks. If it fails or does something weird, I will update this review. Otherwise, I would recommend this product highly!

I just about gave up repairing my Simms Waders. There were tiny pin hole leaks from wear and tear and I was placing drops of sealer on it, recommended to repair leaks. It would stay dry for half an hour and then I had a foot full of water. My last try was this Tenacious Tape Gore-Tex. It worked and has stayed working for 4 different fishing trips. Because the patch was where the neoprene and gortex meet, it is also where I slip my foot in. I had to be very careful about sliding my foot in as the tenacious tape has a layer on top that is not conducive to slipping my foot by. I purchased another item: Waterproof iron-repair patch 3" x 9" to place over the patch. This made it easier to slip my foot in. And no, with this second patch I did not iron it. It was inside the wader and I didn't use it as the main patch. Hopefully this information helps.

If you look at my ratings profile, you'd probably think I give out too many 5 star reviews. While that does seem like it is the case, I really do not buy too many items from Amazon that I have not thoroughly looked at and found to be highly rated by other Amazon shoppers. These Gore-Tex fabric patches are no different. I have a camouflage Gore-Tex rain suit for hunting and recently when I was stepping over a barbed wire fence, I didn't push the fence down low enough or step over high enough and punctured a hole in my suit. I found these rated highly on Amazon and bought them. These are not too heavy a material for my rain suit, they cut to size easily and they ironed on very easily, sealing very tightly and conforming to one of the seams very well. I am very glad I found these to repair my Gore-Tex rain paints with. I bought an extra package to have on hand should I do the same thing again in the future. Updated 6Feb2020: Two years after I used this to repair a hole in my Gore-Tex hunting rain suit and the patches are still hold strong and not peeling up on the edges. I wear this gear several times a year while hunting in inclement weather. I am very happy with this product.

I used this to fix a rip in a pair of fox racing riding pants. I cut the patch to the correct size and stuck it on the inside of the pants. Didn’t use heat. Just pressed it with my hands. Looks fine from the outside. Just a little L shaped line that you can barely notice. I’ve worn them numerous times and washed them since and the patch stayed on just fine. This should prevent the rip from getting any bigger.

Used this to repair a nearly new horse turnout blanket. (Why do horses gleefully tear their new blankets, but old ones live forever?!?) Super great adhesion on the patch, and water is beading up beautifully. I did use a heat gun instead of an iron, then pressed the tape firmly. My horse is staying dry despite drenching rains for a fraction of the cost of taking it in for repair.

I have a non Gore-Tex running vest that I use in the winter and early spring, it is 100% nylon. Consistently throwing my keys in the same pocket led to a hole. This patch kit was easy to use and held up the rest of the spring. I have no doubt it will remain durable.

I couldn't be happier with these patches. I had an expensive gore tex jacket sleeve get chewed up by our new puppy and the manufacturer directed me toward this repair tape. I spent a great deal of time washing the jacket in sportwash, then cleaning the area on the jacket with isopropyl. Once done the patch went on easy. Several 20-30 second firm presses with a warm iron set the tape. It has been worn now on a nearly daily basis and doesn't show signs of coming off. It's already been through a warm wash cycle with sportwash and didn't phase it. Since then I've used it on gloves, a boot tongue that got melted, and a down jacket with an ember burn hole. Each repair has worked exceptionally well. As with any adhesive, prep the surface, prep it again, and be careful not to get hand oils on it!

My Marmot down winter coat had a few rips in it and I was tired of leaving feathers everywhere I went. I purchased these little patches and they were so easy to put on! Just peel and stick! My coat is a charcoal gray color and I ordered the black. It doesnt match perfectly, but it's better than losing my feathers! :)
