Just Buy It
I've been wanting to buy a portable bandsaw for a while. I couldn't make up my mind between this DeWalt or a Milwaukee. I did a lot of research, and after talking with friends that owned Milwaukee's and a friend that had the DeWalt, I decided to go with the DeWalt. And I'm glad I did, it work great.

I built a sturdy hardwood, formica table top stand to use as table saw a year ago and have used many hours for brass and small steel cutting with pleasure. I was prompted to review when faced with cutting 3 1/2 diam. circles out of 1/2" steel. My plan was to cut a tangential square around my scribed circle, cut off points, and grind down. To my delight the saw followed the scribed lines like a jigsaw, with minimal tooth marks, and I was able to skip the grinder and true up to the scribed circle with a 220 griit 1 inch belt sander with a Dremel sanding wheel polish. It was slow going with gloves for generated heat and cramping thumbs from push, but job done- using a well used blade. Blades are a little pricey but last. Great tool as typical for DeWalt.

What you'd expect from Dewalt - A+
I debated about purchasing this saw for quite a few months. There are much more affordable options from places like Harbor Freight but I am a sucker for a Dewalt tool. This thing is extremely well made and I have used it quite a bit more than I had expected to. I have a nice horizontal bandsaw but sometimes it is easier to just cut the material with this instead of moving things around. It comes in a large case and has plenty of power. It should last me a lifetime, which is why I bought it. Buy once, cry once

Buy this not that!
Had a Dewalt DW328. Save your money on that model and purchase this one for the same price. This unit has more metal and less plastic. It appears to have cooling fins on the motor section. It has plenty of power as well. The DW328 I have got hot and the plastic motor housing distorted and caused the armature to hit the field coil. Cost to fix was half as much as a replacement saw. I searched for an alternative and for the same price as the DW328 I bought this Dewalt DWM120K model. Who knows why the have two models the same price. The DW328 really should be under the B & D brand name. That's my opinion of the DW328's quality.

Great product. Wish I had bought one 10 years ...
Great product. Wish I had bought one 10 years ago! I've been using it to fabricate suspension links, roll cage, bumpers, etc. Cuts A-36 and 1020 DOM like butter! Much less noisy and messy than a chop saw, with cleaner cuts! Gave 4 out of 5 stars because the original blade fatigued and split at the welded joint, making it inoperable. Disappointing because the blade was in otherwise great condition. UPDATE: I've been using this bandsaw for over 6 months straight now on my current project.(many hours of use) Changed my review to 5 stars. I replaced the original blade and have been having good luck with the replacement. I discovered matching tooth count to material thickness is very important to long blade life.

Versatile saw for many uses.
Good price for a DeWalt product, especially for a deep cut portable band saw with the features it does have. I mounted this saw in a SWAG V 3.0 Portaband table which is a great combination to have a compact vertical band saw that is versatile and well made. The built in LED light with its own switch works especially well when used as a vertical saw. Variable speed works well for my purposes and the saw easily maintains blade speed. If I were to use it as a hand held portable the adjustable handle has 3 positions for a comfortable grip. It looks like a well made product and has a good warranty. I would have liked a trigger lock for use with the SWAG table but I just use a velcro computer cable organizer to keep the trigger switched on and I use the foot switch from SWAG which is a Harbor Freight item capable of 20 amps. Just a heads up, some of the images are "cutaway" views and the bottom drive wheel is solid like the top idler which protects the drive chain. I do suggest using Olson Saw AC70010 Saw Blade Lubricant or BOELUBE Machining Lubricant - MFR : 70200-00 or similar which you can find on Amazon. I cut a lot of aluminum and it keeps the chips from sticking to the gullets of the blade. Also I recommend Lenox bimetal blades for all metals, Lenox makes the best blades in my personal opinion. The saw is made in China, it does not mean it's cheaply made but I think you should know this. In addition it is stated a table does come with the saw but it only has a foot plate included.

Faster, cleaner, cooler, safer.
First one arrived with a defective tire on the drive wheels. Return for replacement was very easy and amazingly quick. Second one arrived in perfect condition and has become one of my most used and valued tools. I teach welding at a small college and use it to cut up all sorts of metal for sample projects. fast smooth cuts in mild steel, tool steel, stainless, copper, bronze, etc. Way safer than grinders, pr cutoff tools, faster and without the dust and sparks. The shop stays cleaner. I hadn't considered that when I ordered the saw, but it has been a substantial improvement. The blade lasts much longer than cutoff wheels. In the last month I have probably saved the price of the saw just in cutoff wheels. I made a simple wall mount for the saw so it hangs on the wall with a foot pedal from an old sewing machine and haven't used my chopsaw since. Again, it is way faster, cleaner, and cooler. It has also taken much of the load off my plasma cutter. If you fabricate with metal, you will be glad you bought this machine. Final point ... since I bought this saw, I haven't burned my fingers or shot a piece of small metal across the shop with a hand grinder. You know you have done it, Wear your PPE and enjoy this really fine tool.

Love this Dewalt Portaband
Easy to use and I mounted it to a stand to be used in the vertical position. I really like the variable speed too. blades are also really easy to change out. Haven't had it long enough to evaluate how long it will last but I've done quite a bunch of cutting having it mounted to a stand in the vertical position and it has worked nicely. When sun isn't coming in the shop window, the line light makes it really easy to keep my cut line straight too.

Shoulda, coulda, woulda!
I ordered this saw to reduce my workload will finishing an addition on our lake home. I didn't want to hand saw the uno-bar for my roof, nor did I want to hand saw all of my aluminum railing parts for my deck. All I can say is "WOW" I shoulda bought this saw twenty years ago! It handles great. Leaves an excellent cut. It is quick and efficient.

Big open cutting jaw
Made tough. Strong motor and adjustable speed lets you cut precisely and comfortably. Good visibility of the cutting face and weight of cutter assists gently in putting weight on the cutting blade. Has a light to assist the cutting surface evaluation in progress in low-light conditions. Blade replacement appears straight forward and blade is very stable in the running hardware.
