My son has used Scout's lullabies for years to fall asleep at night. He used it so much we had to get him a new one by the time he was 2. About the time he turned 4, we had to replace it again. He asked for Violet this time. Every single night for years. These are great toys. I love how you get to personalize the songs with your kids favorite food, colors, and name. I don't mind having to buy a new one every few years (usually it stops working due to the wires inside coming loose from being loved on so much)

Violet has a soft, soothing voice - not obnoxious. I bought this for my granddaughter who is blind and has special needs. It is great that it is programmable to keep her interest. The fact that it learns her name and favorite items and uses them in songs is awesome. It has an auto sleep option, push button which is a good motivator to use this and other cause and effect toys. We thought it might take her awhile to learn all the options but she took to it so quickly and it has helped her advance in other ways. It is absolutely wonderful that it is so affordable with no additional costs for the online account. This is especially helpful for those families with special needs as they so often are strapped financially. This is the first stuffed animal that she has liked and she hugs it and it is so special to her. Awesome!

My 20 month old daughter has both this and Smart Stages Sis. She loves them both, but I think she has a slight preference for this one. It’s much quieter than the other one, which is always a winner for me. I also love the personalization feature. The batteries ran out in this one first, which I think is primarily due to her playing with this toy more. I had to hide her for a while until I remembered to get more batteries because my daughter cried when she didn’t work. When I did pull Violet out to put the new batteries in, my daughter nearly jumped off the bed to get to her. She kept pushing me away so she could try to play with Violet, making it very difficult to finished with the batteries. This is her favorite bedtime toy also. She has had this toy since Christmas, but I am just now writing this review because I now see how much she really does love this toy. One of my best toy purchases so far.

This is the BEST if your kid loves LeapFrog. We have all the leapfrog toys, tablets, you name it. This toy is part of our daily life. It says your childs name, you can personalize what it sings and talks about on your phone, it has a volume adjustment inside the back of the stuffed animal (which we all know can truly stink, if your kid is in love with something that is JUST TOO LOUD!) this has two perfect volume options. It also has a setting for 5, 10, or 15 minutes of sleepy time music. It tells my son Good Night "Max" and plays the music. He falls asleep within 20 minutes with Scout on his shelf.

If you're wondering if you should get it, the answer is YES! My son LOVED this so much that he eventually loved it to death! Scout is an amazing little pup that teaches great things to kids when they least expect it. He grew with our family until my son aged out. Even now, my son likes to listen to tyne stories as he's reading them. The read along feature of other Scout toys make for a perfect transition to reading independently, and it all started with this funny little pup that sang lullabies to my baby boy. <3

Three of my four kids have had a LeapFrog My Pal Scout or Violet. Our first born would have had one but I don't think they were made back then. These little interactive toys are so great! Here's why I think your little ones will love them too! 1) It doesn't just talk, Scout/Violet says your child's name, puts their name into songs, and engages the child on a personal level. As soon as my kids realized it was talking to them they would laugh and try to make it do it again. It is still their favorite feature. 2) You can further personalize the Scout/Violet to sing/talk about your child's favorite animal, food and color. The pup uses these favorite things in silly songs. Warning: they are catchy and you will get them stuck in your head! 3) When your child changes, so does Scout/Violet. Anytime the favorites change you can just set the pup to match. The cord to plug it into your computer (USB) is housed right in the back of the pup. Once upon a time the cord was not attached. Be thankful it can't get lost with these newer models. 4) It plays "Bedtime Music" to which you can decide how many minutes it will play. My kids don't sleep to music so we've never used this feature officially, but they still like to press the paw and turn it on and off and on and off and on and off. I would recommend this to babies 6+ months up to 2 years. My daughter is almost 4 and still plays with hers, but she's really too old for it now.

Came clean and ready to be programmed. The set up process was simple and quick, and now he knows my little's name. My son, 5 month old, was fussy and angry, but the moment Scout said his name, he went wide eyed and started giggling. Scout soothe him to sleep, or entertains him with adorable songs and conversational phrases. I really like the hiccup one, because its something my son gets all the time and it seriously bugs him. I wish there was a little more variety on the favorite animals list, but we just set it as dog because he's too young to have a favorite color or animal. Scout is probably his favorite toy, though. He's always holding scouts paw, making sure scout doesn't wander off like his actual dog. I'd buy this again for future children. Leap Frog did a really good job with this product. PS parents, this thing has variety. You won't hear the same noise over and over making you wish you could throw it out the window!!!!

I love that this dog has customization. There is a headphone plug near the battery case to plug in to a computer or phone. On the website, you can enter the child's name, favorite color, favorite animal, and favorite food. The dog calls your child by his/her name and even makes up songs and interactions with their favorites. There is a 5, 10, or 15 min bedtime music function. The buttons are really easy for small hands to push.

We bought one of these when our daughter was about 6 months old and we loved it!!! It became an essential part of her daily life. When asked how much she likes her Violet her answer was "Too much." Right around her 4th birthday Violets nighttime music button started to mess up, Shortly after her 4th bday we had to buy her a new one. I wasn't displeased with it at all. It had been through daily use and nightly use for about 3 years. We bought a new one and told her Violet had to have surgery to fix her and just swapped them out. (We didn't want her freaking out about a replacement.) I love that you can program names into it even though it didn't have her name. It had her nickname so that worked. One of the best things we've ever bought.

I have boy and girl twins, and we have a Scout and Violet for each of them. Actually we own 2 Scouts, because my son chewed on the foot of one Scout so much that it stopped working. I blame my son for that one. Drool and electronics don't mix, and we gladly bought a new one. I absolutely love the customization options, and both of my kids have gotten so attached to them that they are in bed with them each night.
