I was very skeptical of this product. I have a dog who has extreme anxiety to fireworks, storms as well as separation anxiety. I have not tried this out yet for the latter two but just tried it out this weekend when I knew there would be fireworks at our open/not-well-insulated log cabin. What a difference it made! There were only a few fireworks but my dog would normally have started panting, yawning and shaking for at least an hour or two. I gave her two chews (since she is 60 lbs) in advance of the fireworks and her ears merely perked up when the fireworks went off, and then when they stopped she just laid back down. These are wonderful!

I have an Australian shepherd rescue who was obviously over-kenneled; while most dogs don't like to potty in their bed, she just lets it rip. No squating, a puddle just suddenly appears around her. I made repeated trips to the vet, did a number of tests only to discover there was nothing wrong with her but anxiety. The vet put her on clomicalm and it worked (she stopped peeing all over herself, her bed, my car and the house), but, at $80/month it just wasn't feasible. Drs. F&S sell the same perscription for about $60 but every month it would require the vet to fax in a new perscription; they's say they sent it, the vet said he never sent it and viceversa and 2 weeks later we'd finally get the meds in the mail. It was a major headache! That's when I started searching for alternatives and decided to give Composure a try. I went straight from Clomicalm to Composure without any break and she seems to be doing really well. I've seen no evidence of withdrawl from the rx or lag time with the herbal remedy. I even shared a couple treats with my nuerotic border collie on July 4th and he seemed a lot more calm than I expected. I'm about to start month number 2...if anything changes, I'll bE sure to update my review.

We have a (legitimately) crazy dog who nips when she's nervous, can't sit still without pacing, gets super anxious when we're gone, and acts out spitefully by chewing on our stuff or pooping somewhere when we do something she doesn't like (and that's barely the tip of the iceberg of her issues). The first year we tried every type of training and everything else we could think of, but she's still nuts, so we started looking into medication. We met another dog who came from the same breeder is also just as crazy and is on Prozac, so we are suspecting that the dogs are inbred and thus have a logical reason to be as crazy as they are. However, that dog is still crazy and still packed and gets nervous, the Prozac just took the edge off, so we wanted to find another way to try to calm our dog. Long story short, our vet recommended trying Vetriscience. We were skeptical at first, but willing to try anything. For the first few days there was really no noticable difference. But after that she actually started to calm down. She stopped pacing, and she nips much less. She doesn't get as anxious anymore, so she doesn't chew things up anymore like she used to. Our dog is a little too crazy to be totally changed by anything of course, but this stuff makes her MUCH more manageable. We keep her on these chewies daily now, and I'm honestly not sure what we would do without them because we ran out one time and crazy dog quickly came back. We learned our lesson.. never again!

Composure works absolutely wonderful for our Boxer. We first started using this several years ago when we were moving. Our dog went from constantly pacing back and forth, to laying there watching us pack. It does not make her drowsy but definitely helps keep her calm. Started giving it to our new second boxer and it helps her as well. Well worth the money paid. I highly recommend it.

A must if you love your dogs! We use these all the time for our 3 border collies. We have tired buying tablets from the vets to calm them down during 4th July, thunderstorms, or even when we have people but do not like the side effects of the chemicals. This is a natural way to take the edge of your dog's anxiety and you can actually see that they are happier after digesting the chews. Our dogs like the flavor, the chews are quite small, easy to for them to digest and without no side effects. Highly recommended. I hope that you have found my opinion to be helpful with your decision process to purchase this item. If this is the case, and where Amazon asks if this review helpful, please click "yes". One of our little fur-babies has terrible separation anxiety. He even urine marks in the house when we are at work so we had to crate him every day. I had tried these for my other dog (who will NOT go into a crate) who is crazy hyperactive, but found something else that was more effective for him. So we tried these leftovers with the separation anxiety pooch and he no longer gets upset when we're gone for the day. These work so well that we have been able to stop crating him and he has stopped marking in the house! To save money I buy the 60 med-large chews and cut them into thirds for a 12lb dog. Seems to be just the right amount and is MUCH cheaper than buying the small size chews. I give it to him 30-60 minutes before we leave for the day and he's good for 8-10 hours. I give him a second dose if we go out for the evening as well.

LOVE THIS PRODUCT SO MUCH! My GSD had major anxiety about riding in the car, he would cry and work himself up so badly it would cause him to vomit everywhere, which was very disappointing for our family because we looked forward to taking him out on trips and camping. I gave my pup 3 pieces and took him for a ride to training. There was very minimal crying and no throw up! I went through the entire pack and now he begs for car rides and truly enjoys them! I recently bought another pack to help him control his anxiety when home alone in his crate. It is worth every red cent, people! My pup is so much happier now and I'm so thankful for that! Only con I can think of: The scent is absolutely disgusting, so close the bag up fast and securely. (The scent doesn't linger, though, so once you give them to your pet it is over with. Doesn't cause any bad breath either.)

I was pretty skeptical to try these. The facility that we use for day care sells them for $30 a bag, so I was happy to find them here at this price just to try them. The dog likes them, and while there's a smell, to me they just smell like vitamins. Have been using them for 3 months on a 3 year old 52lb mix breed (our best guess is boxer shepherd or cattle dog mix) female dog who is VERY leash reactive and very strong. She is very friendly and playful off leash, goes to day care and the dog park and socializes very well, and thinks everyone got up this morning just to let her kiss them. But on leash, seeing another dog creates a tornado of pulling, lunging and jumping which scares everyone/everything that comes near her and is nearly impossible for me to handle because of her strength. As someone else noted in the reviews, the first 3-4 days these seemed to make her more hyper. After the first week, they took hold and made her a completely different dog. She falls into the one a day dosage for weight and I had to play around a bit with that. One whole one in the morning made her a little lethargic and MUCH less playful and fun. A whole one at dinner had worn off by morning when we walk, so wasn't much good. We finally settled on 1/2 at breakfast and 1/2 at dinner. She has become a much calmer dog in all situations. Since she is getting a little older, I thought maybe she was just finally growing up and have tried stopping and/or reducing the dosage twice. She was back to the 'old' leash aggressive behavior within 24 hours. Those 2 tests proved to me that the treats really do make a difference.

My granny dog has developed a nervous disposition with age. She barks at everything, if there is any change in her environment she starts nervously chewing on the base of her tail. She is also developing some mobility issues. For almost a decade this girl was my faithful jogging partner. We would run 3.5 miles every morning. About a month ago she stopped halfway through our jog and sat down for a very long break and has barely wanted to go on even a short walk. These treats have changed everything. She weighs about 55 lbs and I give her one in the morning and one in the afternoon. She's stopped the nervous chewing & incessant barking. She is starting to become the chill, mellow girl of her youth. While her jogging days are definitely over, she has brought me her harness several times this week and we've taken 3 mile walks on her favorite trail each time. She's obviously in less discomfort physically and emotionally.

I've noticed a marked improvement in my dog's overall anxiety since getting these. He's seriously impressionable when something bad happens, and that has left with with anxiety and reactivity. For the first time in a while he's back to some old solid good habits! He used to LOVE sitting by our big window and watch people go by, until they started construction on a building next door and some of the workers would harass him through the window (Waving their hands shaking their head, getting up close and tapping the glass). They treated him like a zoo animal and would LOVE to get him bark, and would laugh at him freaking out. He went from relaxing by the window and happily watching people to standing on defense watching people go by and barking. After MONTHS of not seeing him relax by the window I finally for the first time yesterday saw him with his head down and him just RELAXING. He's also tends to be weary of males while on leash after a couple of bad encounters with our resident crackhead who would live in an alley near us, and he'd be over vigilant. He'd stand guard (after we were attacked by him) and bark at any approaching male NOT standing down, but after being on these he'll still bark, but he'll more reasonably move on and continue walking. The dosing isn't perfect, I found that 3 of these does it better than 2, and 4 is too much (he's 80 lbs), but overall very happy with this simple product. It's no replacement for training or a behaviorist but it definitely does help some days go by!
